Game Of Thrones Alum Richard Madden Will Star In Amazon’s Book Of Strange New Things

Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden has lined up his next TV role with Amazon’s The Book of Strange New Things. The sci-fi drama is based on Michel Faber’s popular novel of the same name, and like most shows which hit the online streaming service, it’s thought that a pilot will be shot and rated by viewers before it’s picked up for a full series.

According to Deadline, the show revolves around Peter (Madden), a priest who is sent into space to help found a new colony, but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but all of life as we know it. It’s an interesting premise, and having a religious edge like this promises to lend The Book of Strange New Things a different feel to most other stories in the genre.

Transformers: The Last Knight adds Liam Garrigan as King Arthur

30 August 2016 10:17 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Joseph Baxter Aug 31, 2016

Liam Garrigan, who plays King Arthur on Once Upon A Time, will again play the character in Transformers: The Last Knight.

Transformers: The Last Knight seems to be shaping up as a different kind of entry in the ultra-lucrative film franchise. Currently in production, director Michael Bay’s fifth go with the protean anthropomorphic automaton film series is taking the world-wrecking rampages into the intriguing expositional corner of Arthurian legend. In fact, the film has just cast an actor to play the ancient lore’s fated eponymous regent himself.

According to Mashable, the one and only King Arthur Pendragon is, indeed, jumping into the Autobots vs. Decepticon drama of Transformers: The Last Knight, seemingly confirmed with the reported casting of Liam Garrigan for the part. Of course, fans of ABC’s Once Upon a Time might be surprised to hear that, seeing as Garrigan already has been »

Transformers 5 Gets Once Upon a Time Star as King Arthur

29 August 2016 6:38 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Production started on Paramount's Transformers: The Last Knight back in June, although very little has been released regarding the plot. Director Michael Bay has been posting photos and video from the set ever since filming started, without revealing any story details. Today we have word that Once Upon a Time star Liam Garrigan has been cast as the mythical character King Arthur, which essentially confirms months of rumors swirling around the sequel.

Mashable broke the news earlier today, with the actor surprisingly playing the same role in this movie, King Arthur, as he did in the ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time. Back in June, plot rumors surfaced that the story centers on Optimus Prime returning to Earth in search of a mysterious artifact, which has ties to both King Arthur and the magician Merlin. This report also reveals that Santiago Cabrera, who had previously been cast, is playing Merlin. »

Transformers: The Last Knight Adds Liam Garrigan As King Arthur

29 August 2016 6:20 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Director Michael Bay recently shared a video from the Scottish Isle of Skye, where he is currently shooting the fifth installment in Paramount’s block-busting franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight. The footage seemed to add credence to the rumor that this latest robots in disguise adventure would draw heavily upon Arthurian legend for its plot, and this latest casting announcement most certainly confirms it.

According to Mashable, 34-year-old British actor Liam Garrigan (24: Live Another Day, Strike Back) will play none other than the good King Arthur Pendragon himself in the movie. Now, if that sounds familiar, it’s because he recently appeared as the exact same character on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. So, either Bay is a big fan of the show, or this is simply a coincidence – either way, at least we know Garrigan has some experience.

The Arthurian TV connections don’t stop there, either, »

Once Upon A Time's Liam Garrigan Will Play King Arthur In Transformers: The Last Knight

29 August 2016 4:40 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

It was reported some time ago that King Arthur and Merlin are expected to factor into Transformers: The Last Knight, and the former has now been cast in the upcoming fifth instalment of Michael Bay's divisive franchise. However, the director doesn't deserve any points for originality as Mashable reports that Liam Garrigan has actually been cast in the role he's already played in Once Upon a Time! On the plus side, we at least know that he's qualified to play the iconic British legend. Garrigan's other small screen credits include the likes of 24: Live Another Day and Strike Back while he also had a leading role in The Legends of Hercules. This is an interesting bit of casting as it now confirms that we'll be spending some time in the past in The Last Knight...unless Bay brings Arthur to the present that is!
