Exclusive: 'Strike Back' heroes won't go quietly in final season trailer & poster

3 July 2015 6:30 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

In this new Golden Age of TV drama, viewers don't lack for the most erudite, artful, philosophical dramas they can possibly find. But sometimes, we just want to watch stuff blow up real good, and in a way that doesn't insult our intelligences. That is where Cinemax's "Strike Back" has come in for the last few years, and the way the show will be going out when its final season debuts here on July 31. (The first few episodes have already aired in the UK.) It's an action show that's always been smarter, funnier and plain better than it needs to be, with great chemistry between leads Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton (both of whom will be headlining NBC dramas this fall), action sequences that put the best of network TV (including "Arrow") to shame and a winning mix of fun and genuine stakes. I've seen the first four episodes of the final season, »

The show that shot me in the face: a salute to Strike Back

3 June 2015 1:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

As the macho military drama begins its final season, Rhik Samadder – who was killed off in season two – pays tribute to its steroidal mix of smack talk and beat-downs

Budapest, spring 2011. I’m in a limousine, flying up an empty road by the banks of the Danube. I’m looking tense, but also sharp, due to the exquisite tailoring of my suit. The handsome military general sat next to me is frowning. “We have to turn around. There’s been an incident at the World Summit,” I say, in a vaguely Pakistani accent, on the phone to someone who isn’t there. Suddenly, there’s chaos. A blacked-out Hummer roars past us, and executes a perfect 180 handbrake skid to face us down. Two more pull up at our flank, hemming us in. Well-built men carrying automatic weapons spill out and advance on us.

It feels like something out of a movie. »

Robson Green thinks a Us remake of Wire in the Blood could be great

1 June 2015 4:01 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Robson Green thinks a Us remake of his noughties ITV series Wire in the Blood could be "brilliant".

The crime thriller was being eyed for adaptation by ABC - though the network later passed on the project.

Green, though, told Digital Spy that the show - in which he played psychologist Dr. Tony Hill - still has the potential to be a Us smash-hit.

"The script was written - there was some amazing talk on who could play Tony Hill," the actor said. "Everyone from Guy Pearce to Billy Bob Thornton.

"They'd Americanize it [and] they'd do a brilliant job. American TV - the high-end stuff - is exceptional. They'd have made a great job of it, but it wasn't picked up - never mind."

Green also ruled out ever reprising the role of Tony if a Us remake did make it to the screen.

"No, I've done that," he said. »

Robson Green reveals why the next Strike Back had to be the last

31 May 2015 4:01 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Strike Back fans, Robson Green has revealed why the next series had to be the last.

Green - who plays Lt. Col. Philip Locke - told Digital Spy that the action thriller's next run gets "bigger and better" than before - and "couldn't really go anywhere else".

Michelle Yeoh, Max Beesley will appear in Strike Back's final series

"You can't write a story like this, and then continue the series," he hinted. "So yeah, we knew it was going to go out with a bang. The storylines were so gripping and thrilling.

"It just got better and better and it couldn't really go anywhere else. But you should always leave your audience wanting more, and I think the finale does that. It really is a very emotional ending."

However, Green did reveal that, early on, that had been talk of Strike Back continuing - perhaps on a new network. »

Watch New Trailers For NBC’s Fall Series Blindspot, The Player And More

12 May 2015 9:00 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

NBC has revealed trailers for a few of its fall series, including Blindspot, People Are Talking, The Player and Heartbreaker  – and the result is an expectedly mixed bag. My first impressions of the trailers, below:

Out of everything that’s coming to the major networks this fall, Blindspot seems like one of the most promising. It boasts a highly capable cast in Jaime Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton, and the story is basically a TV blend of Memento and The Bourne Identity, which I’m entirely on board with. Unless the story is mind-numbingly stupid (of which there’s a disconcertingly high possibility), Blindspot could be the rare NBC thriller that actually draws eyeballs.

Unfortunately, I can’t say that I feel anything apart from irritation toward People Are Talking, simply because even though the trailer, true to this comedy’s title, features a lot of people talking (about sex, sex »

NBC's 2015-16 TV Schedule: 'Blindspot' lands post-'Voice,' 'Heroes Reborn' to Thursday

10 May 2015 9:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

NBC announced its 2015-16 primetime TV schedule on Sunday (May 10), a schedule that arrived with several key open questions, including: What will get the benefit of "The Voice" lead-in? There are, in order, "Blindspot," "Heroes Reborn" and Friday. NBC's fall, which will be buttressed, as always, by Sunday Night Football, includes the premieres of three new dramas (four if you consider "Heroes Reborn" to be new) and one new comedy, with only Sunday and Wednesday nights intact. “We’re attacking the new season with the same programming strategy that successfully turned NBC around — a slate of provocative and innovative series and events that cut through the clutter and will continue to build on our momentum, »
