Spider-Man Animated Movie Poster Leaves Its Mark

23 May 2017 2:10 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

In just a few months, Tom Holland returns to the big screen as Spider-Man in his first stand alone adventure, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but next year, fans will also get a new Spider-Man animated movie, which will feature The Get Down and Dope star Shameik Moore lending his voice to the iconic Miles Morales. While we wait for additional voice cast members to come aboard, Sony Pictures unveiled the first two posters for this untitled animated adventure during the annual Licensing Expo, which is currently happening in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, these posters don't give us our first look at the animated Spidey, but it does feature the movie's new logo.

Collider spotted these photos on the convention floor earlier today, which showcases a graffiti-style logo that is being used for this animated Spider-Man movie. Unfortunately, the Licensing Expo didn't reveal any story details for this untitled animated adventure, but this project »

Han Solo Star Wars spinoff set video shows Alden Ehrenreich racing a podcar

22 May 2017 5:35 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

While there still is not a whole we know about the upcoming Han Solo solo movie, over the past couple of weeks we have seen some leaked concept art and a set photo showing Alden Ehrenreich as the famous smuggler. Today, it looks like we have some footage of a possible action sequence in the movie – what looks to be a podcar race! Courtesy of makingstarwars.net, the amateur footage was taken at the Fawley Power Station in the UK, where the Han Solo movie is currently filming:

There isn’t too much to see in the video (a lot of theatrical fog), but there is a driving sequence starting up right at the very end. The man who took the video, going by the name Steve H., recalls a conversation with a local woman who claimed that they were filming a “drag race” with “odd looking vehicles”. So, is »

Han Solo to Pilot a New Ship in Star Wars Spin-Off?

19 May 2017 3:15 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

When Disney and Lucasfilm's Han Solo spin-off started shooting in February, the studios released the first photo, featuring the cast and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Since then, there have been no shortage of rumors about this Star Wars spin-off, but very few actual photos from the set. Although that changed this morning when we got our first look at Alden Ehrenreich in costume. These images also reveal another potentially interesting detail, showcasing what might be Han Solo's personal transport, before he obtained the Millennium Falcon.

TMZ debuted a fresh batch of images from the set, with one of the photos showing Alden Ehrenreich riding in a personal transport, which is much, much smaller than the Millennium Falcon. No details about the shoot were given at this time, and it remains to be seen if this transport is in fact Han Solo's personal vehicle. »

Brett Ratner in Cannes: 'Television is obviously the future'

19 May 2017 2:37 PM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Us producer and director delivered a keynote at the festival today.

In his keynote address at the Winston Baker Film Financing Forum today (May 19), an ebullient Brett Ratner revealed just how he rescued Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Oscar winner The Revenant when it went over budget; why he will soon be returning to directing; his plans to enter the TV business in a major way; and why he thinks Vr is ideal for porn.

Ratner isn’t just a filmmaker whose own movies have grossed over $2bn. He’s also a prolific producer and film financier - and a co-founder of RatPac Entertainment together with Australian businessman James Packer.

“Nobody really in Hollywood can figure out how I did this. They don’t understand,” Rattner said of his unlikely metamorphosis from director into “mogul” (a description he hates). His friend and Rush Hour star Jackie Chan calls him “the luckiest motherfucker in the world”.

New to Streaming: ‘Logan,’ ‘Good Morning,’ ‘The Lego Batman Movie,’ ‘The Survivalist,’ and More

19 May 2017 5:15 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit platforms. Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.

Before I Fall (Ry Russo-Young)

Harold Ramis certainly didn’t invent it, but his Groundhog Day made the narrative loop device a mainstream mainstay, lovingly aped in everything from Source Code to Edge of Tomorrow to 50 First Dates. In Before I Fall, the loop treatment is utilized rather intelligently by director Ry Russo-Young, from Maria Maggenti screenplay adapted from Lauren Oliver‘s novel. – Dan M. (full review)

The brightly coloured symbols – voiced by Tj Miller, Anna Faris, James Corden and many more – journey through a world of apps to enlightenment in Sony’s latest candy-coloured tech/toy film tie-up

It may be one of the most conceptually baffling films ever to be put into production, but The Emoji Movie is on its way to joining Battleship and The Lego Movie as the flimsiest excuse yet for a major motion picture. A teaser trailer has already been released, with a brief glimpse of a poo emoji voiced by Patrick Stewart, but now a full-length trailer has been released.

The Flash Movie Eyes Back to the Future and Kingsman Directors

16 May 2017 4:42 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Warner Bros. is still trying to get The Flash movie going, after suffering major setbacks, including losing several directors and rewriting the script. It looks like things may finally be coming together, though, as the studio has reportedly narrowed their director search, and it is now a two-horse-race, with both names being rather big. It looks like the studio's top two choices are Back to the Future helmer Robert Zemeckis, and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn.

This is not just hearsay, mind you. Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has been considering both directors for The Flash for a while now, with The Wrap corroborating the Robert Zemeckis news, saying he is the studio's top choice for the job. However, Variety notes that his schedule is an issue, as he is scheduled to shoot an untitled movie with Steve Carrell this August, and Warner Bros. hopes to get The Flash "off »

The Emoji Movie is still a thing that exists and has released a new trailer

Contrary to popular belief, I don't like hating things. Mainly because I have high blood-pressure as it is, but also it's always better to like things and be happy (though if I were an emoji, it'd probably be an angry face one). However, while I'm trying to stay positive and keep an open mind (for instance, I was the first person to shit on The Lego Movie trailers, but ended up... Read More »

First Trailer For The Emoji Movie

16 May 2017 11:42 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

The Lego Movie has a lot to answer for. Given the success of that movie, and it’s Lego Batman spin-off, the gate has been opened for movie based on the most random of properties. Case in point, The Emoji Movie. Yes, a movie revolving around the yellow icons on your phone that litter everything from Facebook to text messages. Coming from Sony Pictures Animation, prepare to venture inside your phone as a society made up of emoji is threatened with deletion when Gene the ‘meh' emoji (Tj Miller) displays more than one emotion, and is therefore seen as defective. From that brief synopsis, you can tell if this movie is for you or not. It’s pretty ironic, considering the lead character, that this trailer leaves me pretty meh. This feels like standard kiddie fare, with poop emoji (voiced by Patrick Stewart, for some reason) and vomit gags aplenty. »

Image Nation Abu Dhabi Pacts With U.S. Producers Roy Lee, Steven Schneider

16 May 2017 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Rome – Prominent Middle Eastern production company Image Nation Abu Dhabi has forged a three-year pact with veteran Hollywood genre movie producers Roy Lee (“The Ring”) and Steven Schneider (“Paranormal Activity”) to jointly produce a slate of high-concept, low-budget horror films destined for the international market.

Though specifics on the projects are being kept under wraps, the plan is to make at least one English-language movie with franchise potential per year, fully financed by Image Nation, according to a statement.

Directors are being decided. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The deal reunites Schneider with Image Nation after their recent collaboration on Emirati director Ali F. Mustafa’s “The Worthy,” a dystopian Arabic-language thriller set for global release via Netflix this month.

Besides “The Ring” and “Paranormal Activity,” Lee and Schneider (pictured – Schneider left, Lee right) each have a long track record churning out other hit horror franchises, including “The Grudge, »

The Emoji Movie Trailer #2 Will Have You Feeling Very Emotional

16 May 2017 9:12 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The first full-length Emoji Movie trailer is here and it's real. Sony has made a movie about emojis starring the voice talents of T. J. Miller (Silicon Valley, Deadpool) as the "meh" face named Gene while Sir Patrick Stewart (X-men, Logan) is portraying the poop emoji. The premise of the movie is that each emoji is living and that they are only allowed to have their specified facial expression. Miller's character Gene is "unfiltered," but wants to be "normal" like the other emojis so he and some friends go on a cross-app adventure or "app-venture" (seriously?) to help Gene. Of course that's not all, while on the "app-venture" something dangerous happens and the fate of all emojis is in Gene's hands.

The story seems kind of familiar, almost like Wreck It Ralph that that toothache of a Trolls movie, but with emojis and probably not as good. While the idea »

Woody Harrelson’s Han Solo Character Is A “Good At Heart” Criminal

12 May 2017 4:09 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The upcoming Han Solo Anthology movie is currently shrouded in secrecy. Though certain things are starting to leak out, like the return of a familiar location, we still don’t know a whole lot of concrete facts about the film. In fact, it hasn’t even been given a proper title yet – which really needs to be rectified soon.

One of the few things that has been officially confirmed, however, is the role that Woody Harrelson will play in the movie. From what we understand, he’ll take on the part of Beckett, the mentor to Alden Ehrenreich’s youthful Han Solo. We haven’t been given much more than that, but in a new interview with The Independent, the Zombieland and Hunger Games star dropped a few new hints about his character’s personality.

Though he was understandably tightlipped, his words do give us some meat to chew on. »

Will Jabba the Hutt Return in Han Solo?

12 May 2017 4:03 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Is Jabba the Hutt about to make his return to the big screen? A new set photo from the upcoming (and still officially untitled) Han Solo movie seems to indicate that very well could be the case. But we do have to do a bit of speculation in order to get there. It is a very reasonable speculation. With that said, let's dig into this a little bit and explain why we very well may be seeing the most feared alien on Tatooine returning to the Star Wars movie universe next year.

Warning: possible, minor spoilers ahead for the Han Solo movie. Recently, the folks over at Star Wars News Net got wind of a set photo from the Han Solo movie that appears to be teasing a return to Tatooine. The photo is an overhead shot that shows a huge set being built in a desert landscape and, though it hasn't been confirmed, »

If these photos are fake, than whoever drew them did a phenomenal job. Some of the photos even bear the name of the movie’s working title: “Red Cup”.
