A movie for everyone, not just Asians!

Saw this movie a few days ago and was very pleasantly surprised. I expected the movie to be funny but not to the extent that it really was. I don't generally laugh out loud during a film, but on a number of occasions I did exactly that. It was very professionally made. The camerawork was spot on and the acting by all concerned was great. It definitely made me laugh, but more than that, I found myself getting quite emotional during certain scenes. I didn't expect that! So it was funny, sad, uplifting, and totally entertaining. Whether you're Asian or not, I pretty much guarantee you will enjoy this film. On top of all that, I found out subsequently that this film is a " not for profit " enterprise. How generous of everyone concerned! Kudos to all.

Emotional and comedic - one to watch!!

We saw this film as part of the Purbeck Film festival and it appealed to a diverse crowd. It was quirky and poignant, familiar yet different, with little Indian cinema references thrown in here and there. There were several laugh out loud moments and the story was engaging, with several plot twists that melded Bollywood drama with real life drama for many British Asians. Some of the characters share a real love hate relationship with the audience and take you on a complex journey; I think everyone will find something in the storyline to identify with and to tug at the heartstrings. The whole party, ages ranging from 11-50 enjoyed the movie.

Great little movie

Warning: Spoilers
Great little movie with a good age range of actors displaying the dynamic, I guess, of a typical South Asian family in the UK. Lovely balance of drama and comedy from the lead actors. I was especially intrigued with the relationship between the father and son around their shared love of music. The mystery surrounding the father's status during the early part of the film, whether dead or alive was cleverly presented. The son-in-law's Bangra drumming in the back garden and the neighbors response made me laugh! The character of Sweetie was a risky inclusion but made a great foil to Harry's dower outlook on life while being tagged. All in all, along with the writing, directing and production, a brilliant effort.
