The Hollywood Reporter stated that: Davies plays “Dickie Bennett,” the smartest of three brothers and a high school rival of Givens. Since Prohibition, the Bennett and Givens families have warred like the Hatfields and McCoys. Dickie’s family traffics in weed, for which Bennett spent time in prison. Judi Dench And Damon Herriman Join Leo DiCaprio In Clint Eastwood's 'J. Edgar'

29 December 2010 9:41 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Clint Eastwood got at least two good presents under his Christmas tree this year: The Playlist reports that Judi Dench and Damon Herriman (TV's "Justified") have joined Eastwood's latest flick "J. Edgar" (formerly "Hoover"). They are added to the growing list of actors that also includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer ("The Social Network") and Charlize Theron.

Herriman would come on board as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby. His conviction came into question later because police were accused of manipulating the evidence, though, which prompted Hoover to launch an FBI inquiry into the police handling of the case. Dench's role in the film has yet to be announced.

As you've probably discerned from its title, the film follows the life of the FBI's first director, J. Edgar Hoover, as told from his perspective. DiCaprio is tapped to play the title character, while Hammer will »

Judi Dench & Damon Herriman Joining Clint Eastwood's 'J. Edgar'

29 December 2010 9:39 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

We already know Leonardo DiCaprio is playing the titular historical figure of the FBI in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) landed the role of his alleged gay lover. Now Eastwood is in the midst of rounding up a supporting cast. Earlier this month The Playlist got word that "Justified" star Damon Herriman will play Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping & killing the Lindbergh baby. Now they've spied a story over at Sandwich John Films who spoke with Eastwood at his California Hall Of Fame induction where he revealed that Judi Dench has already signed on for an unknown role. We're still waiting to find out whether or not Charlize Theron will take the role Helen Gandy, a Justice Department file clerk who ended up being Hoover’s personal secretary. Apparently she's leaning towards the role, but also finds herself in the midst of »

Check out new videos from "Justified" which returns for an all-new season, premiering on Wednesday, February 9th at 10Pm Et/Pt. Timothy Olyphant stars as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a modern day 19th century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. Judi Dench Joins Eastwood’s J. Edgar

29 December 2010 3:15 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Don’t be fooled by Clint Eastwood’s forthcoming biopic J. Edgar not being listed in our most anticipated movies of 2011 article, the film is very much on our radar and we like how it’s shaping up so far. Leonardo DiCaprio has been on board for a while as the titular former head of the FBI and The Social Network’s break-out thespian Armie Hammer will be Edgar’s assistant/life long close friend & possible closeted lover Clyde Tolson.

Australian actor Damon Herriman (from the show ‘Justified’) is Bruno Hauptmann, the man who kidnapped and killed the Linderbergh baby and Charlize Theron has been in talks for the part of Helen Gandy, Edgar’s loyal secretary. Now we can add Judi Dench to the cast, with Eastwood hinting that he is winning the battle for Theron’s signature…

Damon Herriman Added to Cast of Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar”

27 December 2010 1:00 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Shooting is due to kick off in February 2011 on Clint Eastwood’s latest, J. Edgar (previously going by the working title “Hoover”). As we have already reported, Leonardo DiCaprio is already on board as the eponymous head of the FBI, with The Social Network’s Armie Hammer also confirmed as Hoover’s assistant/secret lover Clyde Tolson. Charlize Theron is still in talks to appear, apparently trying to choose between this and a role as the evil queen in “Snow White and the Huntsman”.

Eastwood seems to be on an astonishing run of form of late, turning out consistently excellent, engaging work and it can only be hoped that J.Edgar will continue this. Added to the mix now is Damon Herriman, who has been cast in the interesting role of Bruno Hauptmann. Hauptmann was convicted in the 1930′s for the kidnapping and murder of the 20-month old son of famous aviator Charles Lindbergh, »

24 December 2010 1:36 PM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

Damon Herriman, guy who you probably remember from FX’s Justified, has joined Clint Eastwood’s upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic that we already wrote about.

So, by now, you know that Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer are already on board and according to the previous reports, there’s still an offer on the table for Charlize Theron.

According to The Playlist, “Herriman has been cast as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of abducting and killing Charles and Anne Lindbergh’s baby in March of 1932. His conviction later came into question however, with police accused of doctoring evidence as well as ignoring and intimidating witnesses.

The questions raised prompted J. Edgar Hoover to launch an FBI inquiry into the handling of the case.”

Leonardo DiCaprio will portray a young J. Edgar Hoover while Armie Hammer stars as his assistant and lover Clyde Tolson.

Johnny Depps “Natural Acting Experience”

24 December 2010 5:18 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Paramount have releases in their run-up to the animated feature Rango a nice wee featurette on the techniques director, Gore Verbinski (Pirates Of The Caribbean) utilised when making his first animated film.

The featurette shows how, much like Avatar and other motion capture techniques, the actors themselves act out every moment but more as a animators guide rather than the preciseness that Avatar and others aim for.  It does look fun but also promotes itself as a completely unique way of animated filmmaking which is not the case as this is something Nick Park over at Wallace And Gromit have been doing for years.

Rango also has a large and impressive cast for a animated feature outside of Pixar, Disney and Dreamworks with Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy (Underworld), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Isla Fisher (Confessions Of A Shopaholic), Alfred Molina (Spiderman 2), Ned Beatty (Homicide Life On The Street / Deliverance), Ray Winstone »

Australian actor Damon Herriman (TV’s Justified) has been cast as the Lindbergh-baby kidnapper, Bruno Hauptmann, in director Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic of J. Edgar Hoover, according to his manager. IndieWire initially reported the casting; the 40-year-old actor joins Leonardo DiCaprio and The Social Network’s Armie Hammer, who have already been hired to portray the longtime F.B.I. director and his assistant (and supposed gay lover), respectively.

Damon Herriman Playing Lindbergh Baby Kidnapper In J. Edgar

23 December 2010 1:01 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Many of the major important historical figures involved in Clint Eastwood's next film J. Edgar have already been cast-- Leonardo DiCaprio as former FBI head J. Edgar Hoover, Armie Hammer as his colleague and lover Clyde Tolson and Charlize Theron (maybe) as personal secretary Helen Gandy. Now there's another real-life person set to join the ensemble, and not necessarily someone you expected. The Playlist has confirmed that Australian actor Damon Herriman is on board to play Bruno Hauptmann, the German immigrant accused of kidnapping the Lindbergh baby. The Lindbergh kidnapping, and the subsequent trial against Hauptmann that was allegedly riddled with inconsistencies and fraud, was one of the first major cases Hoover investigated through the nascent Federal Bureau of Investigation. Given that Herriman isn't exactly well known-- he had roles in Nash Edgerton's hugely underrated The Square and on a few episodes of FX's Justified-- I can't »

Damon Herriman Joins Clint Eastwood’s ‘J. Edgar’

23 December 2010 11:30 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Formerly titled Hoover, Clint Eastwood's next film J. Edgar is slowly but surely putting its cast together and the latest piece of casting might provide a peak into the story. We already know that Leonardo DiCaprio is locked and loaded to play the original FBI director and that both Charlize Theron and Armie Hammer [1] are in talks to play two of his close confidants. The next confirmed piece of casting is that Australian actor Damon Herriman will play Bruno Hauptmann, the man who was convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby. In the States, Herriman is best know for a recent stint on FX's Justified, a role in The Square and a bit part in the Paris Hilton horror remake House of Wax. Read more about Herriman's role and how it might fit into the Dustin Lance Black penned flick after the break. The Playlist [2] broke the news »

Aussie Damon Herriman Joins Eastwood’s ‘J. Edgar’

23 December 2010 9:29 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Australian actor Damon Herriman (best known here for his work on FX’s Justified) will be joining the cast of Clint Eastwood‘s hotly anticipated (by me, anyway) next project, the biopic of legendary FBI founder and director-for-life J. Edgar Hoover. Herriman will portray Bruno Hauptmann, the German immigrant who was found guilty of kidnapping the Charles Lindbergh baby and summarily executed. Concerns over the legitimacy of Hauptmann’s persecution (he claimed he was innocent right to the end) prompted Hoover to investigate the case further. [The Playlist]

Herriman joins Leonardo DiCaprio as the young Hoover in J. Edgar, along with The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer as Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s longtime assistant and (supposedly) closeted lover.  Charlize Theron is reportedly in talks to play Justice Department file clerk Helen Mandy, who became Hoover’s personal secretary, eventually working under him for over 50 years. Her involvement hinges on the other project Theron is circling, »

Just because U.S. Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens has solved his Crowder problems in the season 1 finale (well okay, most of his Crowder problems), not to mention putting an extra bullet in dear old dad for old time’s sake (don’t worry, the old backstabber’s still alive and kicking), it doesn’t mean his problems are over. Not by a long shot. Meet the new bad guys of “Justified” Season 2, the moonshinin’, pot-sellin’ crime family The Bennetts, led by the very motherly looking Mags Bennett and her three sons, Doyle, Coover, and Dickie. Season 2 of “Justified” kicks off February 9, 2011 on the FX Channel with the episode, “The Moonshine War”. Raylan tangles with a ruthless Harlan County crime family while hunting for a fugitive sex offender. Justified to Return February 9th

22 December 2010 3:03 PM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

FX has confirmed February 9th as the premiere date for the second season of Justified, the Timothy Olyphant-led drama about a Deputy U.S. Marshall getting assigned to his hometown in eastern Kentucky as punishment for an “accidental” shooting. According to TV Guide, Joseph Lyle Taylor, Brad William Henke, Jeremy Davies, and Margo Martindale are to recur in season two as a prominent drug dealing family that will become the primary rival of Olyphant’s Raylan Givens.

The new night for the show, which aired Tuesdays last season, is a slight cause for concern. FX is obviously still squarely behind the show, but its competition should be stiff. Justified will be facing Shonda Rhimes’s latest sexy doctors drama Off the Map, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, and Law & Order: Svu, in addition to the plethora of cable reality shows and eventually Happy Endings. ‘Justified’ Season Two Premiere Date Announced

22 December 2010 7:21 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

FX’s Justified was easily one of the best, most critically acclaimed TV series of the last year. Based on Elmore Leonard’s written works Pronto, Riding the Rap, and Fire in the Hole, the show follows Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), a modern-day U.S. Marshall who carries himself like the Man with No Name, and is tense, barebones, clever, and wonderfully reminiscent of Jackie Brown, Get Shorty, and Out of Sight.

It’s no surprise that Justified was renewed for a second season, as, again, it was universally acclaimed and had fairly high cable ratings. Now, FX has officially announced that the season two release date will be February 9th, 2011 at 10 p.m. E.T. Just in time for my birthday? Thanks, FX. You guys are really swell.
