Trivia

When Dean looks out the window of his motel room after he's been transported to the year 2014, the movie theater sign says "NOW SHOWING: ROUTE 666". This is a reference to the episode "Route 666" in season 1. It is also a reference to the episode "Hollywood Babylon" in season 2, where the director of the haunted movie set they were hunting has a poster for the supposed movie "Route 666" See more »

Quotes

Dean Winchester: Oh well, if it isn't the ghost of Christmas Screw You.
Zachariah: Enough. Dean, enough. You saw it, right? You saw what happens. You're the only person who can prove the Devil wrong. Just say yes.
Dean Winchester: And how do I know that this whole thing isn't one of your tricks? Huh? Some angel hocus-pocus?
Zachariah: The time for tricks is over. Give yourself to Michael. Say yes, and we can strike. Before Lucifer gets to Sam. Before billions die.
[long pause, Dean walks around the angel]
Dean Winchester: [with his back turned] Nah.
Zachariah: "Nah"? You telling...

The End of the World
9 January 2012 | by (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) – See all my reviews

Dean moves to Kansas City and receives a phone call from Sam, who tells him about his meeting with Lucifer and asks Dean to hunt together with him; however, Dean refuses the request. Sooner Zachariah brings Dean to 01 August 2014, i.e., five years in the future, to show him the effect of his refusal to permit Michael to occupy his vessel and Dean realizes that the world has been practically destroyed.

Dean (2009) meets with Dean (2014) and he learns that he has lost his humanity and the world is crowded of people infected by the demonic deadly virus Croatoan. Further, he sees that Lucifer is occupying Sam's vessel. Back to 2009, Dean changes his attitude, but not the way Zachariah is expecting.

"The End" is so far the best episode of the Fifth Season of Supernatural and puts this season finally back on track again. The plot is excellent and gives the perfect motive to the reunion of the estranged Winchester brothers. My vote is nine.
