Confirmed: Chris Zylka Cast as Flash Thompson in ‘Spider-Man’

9 December 2010 4:00 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

The Wrap [1] confirms out earlier November 22nd 2010 rumor report that actor Chris Zylka had been cast in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot as Flash Thompson. Previously: Eugene is better known to comic book fans as Flash Thompson, a character created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, first appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15 published in August 1962. According to wikipedia, the character is "a star high school football player and classmate of Peter Parker (secretly the superhero Spider-Man) who mercilessly bullies "Puny Parker." On the other hand, Flash greatly admires Spider-Man, an irony in which Parker takes some gratification. After graduation, Flash joins the United States Army and is haunted by his combat experiences, leading to alcoholism. Later on in the series, Flash and Peter become friends." Zylka joins a cast which includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Spider-Man (well, a couple stuntmen and many computers will also be Spider-Man »

‘Spider-Man’ Casting: Peter Parker’s Parents and A Second Villain

3 December 2010 1:01 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

HeatVision [1] has learned that Campbell Scott (Roger Dodger, The Spanish Prisoner) has signed on, and Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire, The Darjeeling Limited), Annie Parisse (Rubicon, National Treasure) and Julianne Nicholson (Kinsey, Little Black Book) are in talks to join the cast of Marc Webb's 3D Spider-Man reboot. Find out which character they will play, after the jump. Scott and Nicholson will play Parker’s parents, Richard and Mary Parker, who leave their son an orphan. As you might recall, Parker's uncle Ben and Aunt May become his parental guardians. Its not clear if they will appear in flashbacks or a prologue, but I wouldn't expect them to have a big role in the film. We previously learned that Columbia Pictures were casting a young actor to play the boy-age Peter Parker, so one could assume the parents are to be used in those scenes (sequences). Khan will play Van Atter, »

The Lizard and Flash Thompson Confirmed for Spider-Man Reboot

23 November 2010 2:44 AM, PST | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

About a month ago, THR reported that John Slattery ("Mad Men") and Sam Elliott (The Hulk) were being considered to play Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief J Jonah Jameson in "Untitled Teen/Action Film," which is obviously the new "Spider-Man" movie. Cbm now found a video of Stuart Allan also auditioning for "Untitled Teen/Action Film." Allan looks to be around 9-year-old and is attempting to get cast in the role of Billy. While the description doesn't mention anything else, Billy is actually the young son of Curt Connors, who eventually becomes The Lizard. And the scene that Allan reads clearly shows that "Spider-Man" will show Connor's transformation into the villain. If you weren't sure before, this pretty much confirms that that's the character Rhys Ifans will play. The site also found Chris Zylka (My Super Psycho Sweet 16) confirming that he was cast in "Spider-Man" on his Twitter account. It is »

Chris Zylka reportedly cast as Flash Thompson in Spider-Man reboot

22 November 2010 7:05 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Chris Zylka has been cast as school bully Flash Thompson in the next Spider-Man movie, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has appeared in shows including 90210, Hannah Montana and Cougar Town along with 2009 teen slasher movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16 and its recent sequel.

Zylka thanked a Twitter user who congratulated him on getting a part in the next Spider-Man and Comic Book Movie says it has learned he is playing Eugene 'Flash' Thompson.

The character, a high school football star who first appeared in the comics back in 1962, relentlessly bullies classmate Peter Parker and was played by Joe Manganiello in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

Marc Webb is directing the next film, which is released in 3D on July 4, 2012. If this latest report is true, Zylka would join a cast with Andrew Garfield in the title role, Emma Stone as girlfriend Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as her police captain father, »

DVD and Blu-ray Releases: November 2nd - My Super Psycho Fallen Centurion Diaries

1 November 2010 4:17 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

This week's DVD and Blu-ray offerings are no longer a cash-sucking onslaught like the last few weeks, which does make it easier for our wallets.

First up, Centurion, Neil Marshall's fun epic, is finally available for us to take home, and we can definitely recommend it with good conscience. Also, series and movies from TV and their dead-tree companions are out, and they are surprisingly decent in this batch. (Well, one re-release is surely capitalizing on the popularity of its actor, and we bet you can figure out which one that is.) Finally, don't forget the duo release of a couple of Roger Corman flicks!

Centurion

Directed by Neil Marshall

In Centurion (review), the Roman Empire stretches from Egypt to Spain, and East as far as the Black Sea. But in northern Britain, the relentless onslaught of conquest has ground to a halt in the face of the guerrilla »

Still “Super Psycho” After a Year

22 October 2010 11:37 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

When we last left Skye Rotter, played by Lauren McKnight (pictured left), at the end of last year’s MTV movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16, she was departing the Roller Dome where a number of her high-school classmates had been slain by her deranged dad Charlie—leaving her nemesis, Madison Penrose, to die at his hands. In My Super Psycho Sweet 16 2, debuting tonight on the cable channel (see review here), we find Skye in search of inner peace and the mother who abandoned her when she was a baby—somewhat heavier dramatic territory than usual for slasher sequels. »
