Loved it

Really loved the series. The people complaining about the host just don't know what it's like to be passionate/excited about something. The host is clearly super passionate about trains and that was one of my favourite things about this series as it wasn't some dull boring person simply reading their lines.

Get that idiot off the screen!!!

This show was about... I forgot... Trains?... Yes! Trains! I had to make sure, because while I was trying to watch it I thought it was about a ridiculously ecstatic troll going under the name of Matt Bown.

Matt Bown hosts this potentially interesting show about all kinds of trains and manages to singlehandedly ruin every single moment of it with his screen presence. It's an enigma and I admit I've never seen anything like this except in parodies.

So, it's the train show and we get to see how the trains are designed, how the railroad infrastructure works and how railroad workers get on about their business. Then comes in this little neurotic creature and screams in the camera how "it's all awesome!!!". Speed train reaches top speed - "oh my god it's awesome". A crane loads the cargo onto the freight train - "oh my god it's awesome". A worker tightens a bolt on the rail - "oh my god he tightened the bolt, it's awesome". Then they let him operate a vehicle... and a normal viewer switches the channel.

Matt must have proverbially escaped from some asylum for overworked neurotic geeks. I just don't understand why he chose this show for his therapy and how the producers let him. Enigmatic. But not more enigmatic then the what is a contemporary train show doing on History Channel.

Great show for rail fans!

Warning: Spoilers
Extreme Trains takes the viewer to places on a railroad that the average person will never have the privilege of seeing, such as in to locomotive service facilities, dispatch centers, bulk product loading and unloading facilities, on rail gangs, and traveling with crews on today's sleek modern locomotives on several major routes throughout the country. Throw in a history lesson here and there, and you have Extreme Trains! Host Matt Baum is a bit "over the top". A drastic improvement to the show would be to remove the obvious and superfluous commentary {"This is awesome", etc} and replace it with more informative dialog with the railroad employees about the topic at hand, but despite that, it is a good show for all rail fans from armchair to serious. I wonder how much of the artificial enthusiasm is due to the show producers in an attempt to give the show a more mass appeal. I met Matt at a train show and he seemed knowledgeable and well spoken. I enjoy the show despite the less than stellar hosting, and was disappointed when I learned there would not be a season 2.

Matt Brown is an idiot!

Warning: Spoilers
I love trains, I love to watch films about trains and if it were not for this mega-mouthed prize dork this would be a great series.

Just as the camera is looking at something interesting he bends over into the camera and makes some mind-numbing comment like "This train is really long" and just in case you didn't understand he yells (yes yells,) "Look how really big this is." Whilst you are absorbing this terrific piece of information he comes out with "Wow man, have you ever seen anything this big- awesome man."

His next piece of creative reporting is to walk over to where they are changing a wheel and say "This is where they change the wheels." Then we have "These wheels are big man, I mean this isn't like your toy trains at home these are big wheels - I mean wow!"

The sad thing is that there some great train train journeys filmed but for some reason they concentrate not on the trains but on this retard.

If you are reading this Matt - please go back to your day job.
