Covert Media has sold the Star Wars spoof “Star Worlds” to multiple markets at the Berlin Film Festival, a week after launching sales.

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, whose credits include the Scary Movie franchise, “Epic Movie” and “Vampires Suck” are writing and directing the project, titled “Star Worlds Episode Xxxive=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.” Covert Media’s CEO Paul Hanson (“District 9”) is producing the film alongside Broken Road ProductionsTodd Garner (“True Memoirs of an International Assassin”).

The film is currently in pre-production targeting a fall shoot. The film is being fully financed and produced by Covert Media, which launched worldwide sales on the film in Berlin.

'Star Wars' spoof drives strong Efm sales for Covert Media
Exclusive: Comedy Star Worlds Episode Xxxive=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue has closed deals in Berlin in multiple international territories.

Covert Media president of international Liz Kim Schwan announced sales on Tuesday on the project that Covert is fully financing and producing.

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer wrote and will direct the Star Wars spoof and their credits include the Scary Movie franchise, Epic Movie and Vampires Suck.

Rights for Star Worlds have gone in Germany (Constantin Film), Italy (Eagle), Spain (Tripictures), and Latin America (Gussi).

Deals have also close with Eagle Films for the Middle East, Movie Cloud for Taiwan, PVR Pictures in India, Tanweer in Malaysia, and Red Pictures for Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. Covert is currently in discussions on additional major territories.

Covert CEO Paul Hanson is producing alongside Broken Road ProductionsTodd Garner and the producers have earmarked an autumn production start.

Star Wars” will soon be taken to another galaxy far, far away by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the duo known for the “Scary Movie” franchise and “Epic Movie.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two will write and direct a parody film titled, “Star Worlds Episode Xxxive=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue,” a spoof on the George Lucas-created universe.

No additional plot details or cast members were announced, but the film is expected to begin shooting in the fall.

Hummingbird is based on John McClain’s Black List script about in the vein of global smash Lucy about a female black-ops assassin whose latest mark forces her to confront her true identity.

Interactive Entertainment, with a team led by co-creator and creative director Ed Boon.

Paul W.S. Anderson’s 1995 movie revolved around some of the game’s classic characters, like Liu Kang and Johnny Cage, who were invited to a tournament on a mysterious island only to find out that the fate of the world hung in the balance.

Barry L. Levy will direct “Stranglehold,” a movie about the Boston Strangler Task Force with Todd Garner and Sean Robins producing through their Broken Road company.

The Solution Entertainment Group will finance the project and produce “Stranglehold.” Myles Nestel is producing with Lisa Wilson, and Stephen Emery is executive producing.

Levy is set to make his directorial debut and will helm from his own script. His screenwriting credits include “Vantage Point” and “Paranoia.”

“Stranglehold” tells the untold true story of the Boston Strangler Task Force, which was assembled as a special unit by the Massachusetts Attorney General to stop the serial killer after more than a dozen unsolved murders in the early 1960s. What no one could have predicted was that this group, led by a disgraced Boston Police Detective and a Hollywood psychic, would unearth an even more heinous crime.

Producers are planning to begin casting immediately.

Set during an alien invasion, the story focuses on a newly divorced couple who must make their way on foot through downtown Atlanta to the suburbs where their young children are at home. It will be produced by Madhouse Entertainment's Adam Kolbrenner with Robyn Meisinger as executive producer. No director or cast is attached as yet. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners is developing alien-invasion thriller “The Fall,” based on a script by Australian writer Pete Bridges.

Madhouse Entertainment partner Adam Kolbrenner will produce with Madhouse’s Robyn Meisinger executive producing. Amblin closed the deal for the script this week.

The story is set amid an alien invasion and centers on a divorced couple who must travel on foot from downtown Atlanta to the suburbs, where their young children are home alone. No director or actors are on board yet.

Spielberg explored similar themes in 2005 sci-fier “War of the Worlds,” a contemporized version of the H.G. Wells novel. The film starred Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning, produced by his Amblin Entertainment and Cruise/Wagner, grossed nearly $600 million worldwide.

Kolbrenner was a producer on the 2013 thriller “Prisoners,” starring Jake Gylenhaal and Hugh Jackman.
