Dr Seuss' ecologically sound tale of a synthetic world where nature has been destroyed is brought to the big screen by the creators of Despicable Me. Twelve-year-old Ted (voiced by Zac Efron) strays beyond the walls of plasticised city Thneedville in search of the Mythical Truffula Tree. He's aided in his quest by the enigmatic Once-ler, a tragic character who lives a life of regret after felling every tree to feed his rapacious business and The Lorax, a bewhiskered guardian of the forest voiced by Danny DeVito. »

For an early poster teasing “Despicable Me 2,” Universal Pictures went with a more minimalist approach: two Minions stand above the date July 2013. It didn’t need to say more because since the first film hit big in 2010, the yellow Twinkie-shaped characters have not only helped launch Universal’s first family franchise in well over a decade, but also made it a major player in the animation game.
They’ve broken out as such big stars — make that important spokes-characters — for the company that the Minions have their own short film series, theme park attractions, a consumer products line that includes toys, games and apparel, and will get their own movie spin off in 2014. They even have their own blimp.
Growing their global appeal over the past three years has now paid off for Universal as it revs up its marketing machine for the “Despicable Me” sequel, out July 3 from Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment. »

Alright, I would have thought that swapping out the current trailer with a new one would have something to do with the replacement of Al Pacino by Benjamin Bratt as the villain Eduardo, but nope, fans will be disappointed with the reuploaded version which has nothing significant to offer of the previous trailer we saw. Also lending their voices to characters are Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Ken Jeong, Elsie Fisher, Dana Gaier and Moises Arias. The film opens on July 3rd and marks the fourth time Universal and Chris Meledandri's Illumination Entertainment have collaborated, including Despicable Me, Hop and The Lorax. »

Benjamin Bratt has come in to replace Al Pacino as Eduardo, the villain in the Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment animation. Obviously he's getting right into it as the film directed by Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin finds release on July 3rd. Pacino had obviously done significant work on the project, however, as tough as it sounds, it's really not that hard to get the voices in, and swap them within the animation process, with a strong team like this one. In this case, Deadline's headline of "Say Goodbye to My Little Friend" is absolutely hilarious. Voice cast includes Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Moises Sarias, Elsie Fisher and Dana Gaier. Despicable Me 2 marks the fourth collaboration between Universal and Chris Meledandri's Illumination Entertainment after 2010's Despicable Me, Hop and The Lorax. »

Mad Men star Jon Hamm has signed on for a voice role in DreamWorks Animation's spin-off Minions.
The story is set in the 1960s, long before the loveable yellow Minions joined forces with Despicable Me's Gru, and establishes that these pint-sized henchmen have been around since the beginning of time, providing their services to the world' elite villains. The plot follows the Minions heading to a villain conference to find their latest master to serve, when they encounter Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock). Jon Hamm is playing Scarlett's inventor husband Herb Overkill.
Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me) and Kyle Balda (Dr. Seuss' the Lorax) are directing from a screenplay by Brian Lynch, with Illumination Entertainment's Christopher Meledandri and Janet Healy producing.
Fans will get another dose of the Minions in this summer's comedy sequel Despicable Me 2. Jon Hamm recently voiced the villainous Captain Murphy in the Season 4 finale of FX's hit animated series Archer. »

Zac Efron has said he is eternally grateful to have starred in High School Musical.
The actor revealed to Flaunt that he has nothing but fond memories of the Disney film series, which launched his career.
"Here's the one thing about High School Musical that a lot of people forget or don't realise. It affected a lot of people; its resonance, culturally, was massive," Efron said. "At the same time, it was in every sense of it, the luckiest break in the world."
He went on to comment: "The wrong thing to do - and that's what all these interviews now are trying to get me to say - is to turn on it, to like s**t on it, call it crap. But that's insane.
"There are hundreds of people who began doing one thing when they were younger, who go on to develop and refine and shape their vision, »

Producers of Fox's hit comedy New Girl have enlisted singer and songwriter extraordinaire Taylor Swift to guest star on the upcoming Season 2 finale. The news was first reported by THR and subsequently confirmed by Fox on their official Twitter feed. Potential spoilers about the Season 2 finale follow so proceed at your own risk.
Swift is said to embody the role of an "important" guest at the wedding between Cece (Hannah Simone) and her appointed husband, Shivrang (Satya Bhabha). We'll have to wait to see just how important of a guest to the proceedings Swift will end up being. It would be funny if she turned out to be "trouble when she walked in."
Acting is something Swift has been slowly nudging her way into over the past few years. She appeared in a cameo role on CSI and also alongside Taylor Lautner in Valentine's Day. Her most successful dip into »

This season of New Girl has seen an array of impressive guest stars including Olivia Munn, Nick Kroll, Brooklyn Decker, Nate Corddry, David Walton, Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis, among others. All those actors have brought something fresh to the show, and it’s made for a very enjoyable season. The newest star that will join that impressive list is Taylor Swift, as the singer will appear in the season 2 finale.
While we don’t specifically know what Swift’s role is, we know she will play an “important guest” at Cece’s wedding (which, for the record, I’m still predicting doesn’t end in “I do”s).
Swift’s previous acting appearances include an appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a role in Valentine’s Day, and a voice role in The Lorax.

Taylor Swift, possibly the singer who best embodies the adorkable ethos of in her public persona, will guest-star in the "New Girl" Season 2 finale.
Swift will arrive just in time to be a guest at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (guest star Satya Bhabha), EW.com reports. Going by the name of Elaine, all we know is that Swift's character will be an important guest at the ceremony.
Could we be about to meet another of Cece's model friends? Is Elaine an old friend of Cece and Jess (Zooey Deschanel)? Is it possible that Elaine is a girl from Shivrang's past, much like Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is part of Cece's romantic history? Wouldn't that last theory be fun?
We won't find out for sure until May 14, when the season finale airs.

Will Cece and Shivrang be seeing Red on their wedding day?
Perhaps, now that Taylor Swift has booked a guest-starring role on the Season 2 finale of New Girl. The pop-country superstar will be playing Elaine, an “important guest” at the climactic nuptials according to EW.com.
Swift may be best known for catchy anthems like “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” “Love Story” and “Mean,” but she’s not a complete neophyte in the acting department, having hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2009 and provided the voice of Audrey in the animated feature The Lorax.

The Croods to top domestic box office with perfectly solid (but not fantastic) opening weekend grosses DreamWorks Animation's The Croods is the studio's first film distributed by 20th Century Fox (since 2006, Dwa had a distribution partnership with Paramount Pictures). First the good news: the animated comedy in 3D will undoubtedly become this weekend's box-office king. Helmed by Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders, the Dwa/Fox release will almost certainly pass the $40 million milestone this weekend, probably bringing in up to $43 million after earning $11.6 million at 4,046 venues this past Friday as per studio estimates published on the web site Box Office Mojo. (Pictured Above: scene from The Croods.) Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful, which had topped the worldwide box office in the past two weekends, should drop two places (also trailing new entry Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler), scoring between $20-22 million by Sunday evening. »
