Terror from Terrible Slasher
hellraiser75 April 2022
This one is an honorable mention of mine, though probably one of my favorite Halloween RiffTrax. This film is another "Friday the 13th" rip off and not the best kind, there are just so many problems which are easy to see why this slasher fails to make the cut. From a script that is clearly undercooked as it behaves like a quickly made rough draft with proofreading uninvolved. A title of the film and the camping ground which is an obvious red flag but also false advertising as we never really get a body count that reaches that quota or beyond it.

Zero suspense as too much is given away like common horror clichés which even a novice horror fan can see a mile away; let alone identity of the killer, which means little to no build up, or there actually is but little to no pay off. A dull and dumb girl protagonist that can't act worth a toss though from her performance looked and sounded kind of bored, yeah, I would be too if I ever acted in this film.

Kind of wish it was her friend that was the lead girl as she has some personality (alright at least a sign of it but it's something at least) let alone a bit of depth which creates connection with the camp and film so you'd think it would make more sense if she was the lead but nope; it's this other girl whom when you think about has no real business being the lead at all in fact almost seem like she's more a lead for another film as there's this business with this all wrong boyfriend. And plenty more badness that cuts like a dull butter knife.

There are plenty of memorable riffs and moment which make this funny.

Like there is this one scene which feels like it takes the lead girl almost an eternity to simply walk from point A to B, as we see her crossing the bridge. It's just funny how impatient the RiffTrax guys get (along with me), Bill says, "WALK FASTER!", it literally looked like a scene in which the editor forgot to do cuts to make a smooth transition to save time or this was on purpose for this to be a time filler scene, really, they couldn't think of anything better to do with the extra time which is just sad. Along with another scene where there is this long shot of this answering machine and Bill says, "WE SEE IT!" yeah again more time wasted, ok it was seconds but still even those sweet seconds could be used for something better.

They also say something about the music which yeah is bad and could almost put Jason Vorhees to sleep, it's just funny when they mention it sounded as though it was made from a Keytar which to me is one of the worst music instruments ever because the damn things don't always work or sound right, like this movie. It's even funnier when the RiffTrax guys almost sound like they want a campaign made to destroy those instruments. If there is one good thing about the film is the music in the end credits is a fun listen but like I said one. At least it's an honorable mention in favorite songs from bad films from RiffTrax.

There are also the signs on the road the Rifftrax guys point out, from one which is clearly generic as there are literally no names for the restaurant on the way or any other place. Let alone there is one sign that shows once again obvious red flags as there are directions for places like "Tenkiller" and "Gore" (not kidding about that one). Either the writer never heard of suddlety or was too lazy to even give these places names, maybe it was a combo of both, but I cracked up along with the RiffTrax guys on that sign.

This RiffTrax makes the cut.

Rating: 3 and a half stars.
