Laing: Jazo PR
Pypo, the multi-platform comedy network for women founded by Emmy winner Stephanie Laing, has partnered with Norwegian Air. According to a press release, the airline’s flights will feature exclusive Pypo content as their onboard entertainment beginning March 2018. The deal will also see Pypo “produce a unique event for Norwegian in early 2018” as well as potentially develop Norwegian Air-specific programming.
“We are very happy to have Norwegian as the first airline to dedicate a channel for Pypo on their flights, a channel for their female passengers to laugh and be entertained. As a frequent flyer and a woman, I appreciate an airline catering to my needs,” Laing commented.
“We are truly excited to partner with Stephanie Laing and Pypo, which is a whole new direction for Norwegian. Together we will be able to bring our passengers fresh content,” added Anders Lindström, Norwegian’s Director of Communications, USA. “We’re very pleased to be able to partake in Stephanie’s creative world and having something so unique produced for us.”
Designed for women “who are taking control of the conversation,” Pypo’s website produces original programming and editorial content. Each week the network chooses a topic to delve into via its content and social media. Pypo’s goal is to build “a place for women who are looking for a new narrative; one that speaks directly to who they are, and what they want.”
Rose Byrne (“Bridesmaids”), singer-songwriter Norah Jones, Michaela Watkins (“Casual”), comedian Kathy Griffin, and Mo Gaffney (“Ab Fab”) are among the stars of Pypo programming. Pypo directors include Laing, Susan Jacobson (“The Holding”), Gracie Otto (“The Last Impresario”), and Camille Solari (“A Tale of James Brown”).
Laing is Pypo’s creative director. She has helmed the short “Trouble & the Shadowy Deathblow” and two episodes of “Veep” as well as produced projects like “Vice Principals,” “Divorce,” and “Banshee.” Laing’s feature directorial debut — the Gugu Mbatha-Raw romantic drama “Irreplaceable You” — is currently in post-production.

Harvey Weinstein’s implosion has been cathartic for Lauren Sivan, one of the dozens of women who have come forward in recent days alleging that the once-celebrated mogul was a serial sexual harasser and abuser. It’s a moment of justice and public condemnation that seemed all but impossible to imagine mere weeks ago when Weinstein enjoyed a position as one of the most powerful figures in media, a skilled operator whose connections stretched from Capitol Hill to Wall Street and whose sense of entitlement knew no bounds.
“You reap what you sow,” says Sivan. “I know that he believed for years that he was untouchable, and a lot of people helped him be untouchable.”
Weinstein’s precipitous fall has been stunning, if not a long time coming. He’s been fired from his own company, ostracized by his longtime friends and collaborators in the entertainment industry, transformed from power player to butt of late-night talk-show jokes, ditched »

Film director Paul Feig called on men in Hollywood to speak out against embattled producer Harvey Weinstein, saying the industry must stop “predatory guys” and stand with the “heroes” who have accused the movie mogul of sexual harassment.

We’re now at the beginning of the awards season in which Oscar-bait films will endlessly campaign all their way to Oscar gold. But, the Academy shouldn’t overlook summer’s hit comedy: Girls Trip. Particularly, I’m talking about the breakout performance of Tiffany Hadish for her role as Dina. Academy members, please don’t forget her. The Academy rarely gives nominations to comedic performances and the last time that they did it was a few years ago with Melissa McCarthy for Bridesmaids. But, she lost to Octavia Spencer for The Help. During that time, McCarthy doesn’t have the breakthrough career that she has

“I think we’ve revealed how horrible people can be,” Apatow, who has consistently criticized Trump, said at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit in Beverly Hills. “And I think through social media, we’ve energized the worst of a lot of people’s instincts. So I think it’s more of a Pandora’s Box that’s going to get worse and worse.”
The comments were delivered during a panel titled “The 1990s: America’s Groundhog Decade” with Apatow and Dee Dee Myers, executive vice president at Warner Bros. and the White House press secretary during President Bill Clinton’s administration. The panel was moderated by Vanity Fair’s David Friend, editor of creative development.

Even though he insists it’s just temporary, his parents are thrilled to have »
Melissa McCarthy’s role in Bridesmaids earned her an Academy Award nomination in 2012, buoyed by the praise that finally women were being allowed to play crass, impolitic characters. The country songstress, who is engaged to Australian country star Morgan Evans, gathered up her best gal pals and flew off to Las Vegas for a weekend of fun before the big day. Wilson in “How to Be Single”
Rebel Wilson won a landmark sum in her lawsuit against Bauer Media, the publisher behind Woman’s Day and the Australian Women’s Weekly. Wilson, who had brought a libel case against Bauer, received a settlement of “more than $4.5m [approximately $3.6m in Usd] in damages, plus interest and court costs” from the Melbourne supreme court, The Guardian confirms. The “Pitch Perfect” actress had argued that Bauer Media attempted to permanently damage her reputation by knowingly publishing lies about her around the release of “Pitch Perfect 2.” Bauer’s publications had written several pieces suggesting that Wilson had been dishonest about her age, name, and upbringing.
The “Bridesmaids” star also claimed that Bauer’s stories had cost her job opportunities, specifically roles in Dreamworks’ “Kung Fu Panda 3” and “Trolls.” “You’re not popular for long in Hollywood, you have a few years until you go out of fashion,” the actress explained. “They took those two years away from me doing what I love, which is entertaining people and making people laugh.”
After hearing both sides’ evidence, a six-person jury found in Wilson’s favor in June. The jury was asked to consider “40 questions and eight claims of defamation relating to a series of articles accusing Wilson of being a serial liar.”
Justice John Dixon’s judgment specified that Wilson was due “substantial” payment. The actress was granted “$650,000 in general damages, including aggravated damages, and $3,917,472 in special damages for opportunities of screen roles lost because of the articles.” Wilson will also receive interest and legal cost reparations sometime in the future.
Dixon’s decision also found that the usual $389,500 ceiling on Victorian defamation cases “did not apply because Wilson’s case warranted an award of aggravation.”
According to tweets from Wilson, her settlement marks an Australian record, but the case was never about money. “I’m looking forward to helping out some great Australian charities and supporting the Oz film industry with the damages I’ve received,” she added.
Justice Dixon has awarded me a record sum and I'm extremely grateful for that. It is 4 times the Australian record.
To me though, this case wasn't about the money.
I'm looking forward to helping out some great Australian charities and supporting the Oz film industry with the damages I've received.
“Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” and “How to Be Single” are among Wilson’s recent screen credits. You can catch her reprise the role of Fat Amy in “Pitch Perfect 3,” set to bow December 22. Wilson is also set to star opposite Anne Hathaway in the gender-swapped “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” reboot “Nasty Women.” Wilson and Hathaway will portray two con-women trying to fleece a tech prodigy for all he’s worth.

Rebel Wilson had a Pitch Perfect payday on Wednesday, when she was awarded $3.66 million by an Australian judge in a defamation case against a magazine publisher who printed articles that she said cost her film roles in Hollywood.
The 37-year-old star had sued Bauer Media — publisher of the Australian magazines Woman’s Day, Australian Women’s Weekly, Nw and Ok — after they published reports in 2015 claiming she lied about her age, origins of her first name and her upbringing.
The articles cited a former classmate, who accused the Bridesmaids star of being seven years older than what the media had been reporting. »
