6 hours ago | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

With Daniel Bryan as your world champion, John Cena still as your number one merchandise seller and Cm Punk sitting out, I thought it would be interesting to look at the latest 2014 stats regarding house show draws.

Interested readers may want to look at my previous work on this subject:

House Show Draws (WM2010 to WM2014) - published March 2014 John Cena vs Daniel Bryan (House Show Draw) - published Feb 2014 Analysis:

- I’m looking at the reported attendance for WWE House Show as recorded by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

- We are not looking at WWE Live Events that were TV Tapings

- We are comparing the attendance to the 2008-2013 non-tv Taping attendance baseline

There were 88 WWE events in the Wrestling Observer archives.  This included four Nxt events and thirty WWE TV Tapings. Of the remaining 54 WWE Live events, attendance was available for 90% of them. Attendance »

Lightning does strike twice!

16 April 2014 1:02 AM, PDT | RealBollywood.com | See recent RealBollywood news »

Washington, Apr 16: A woman has penned a book detailing the horrifying incidents when she was struck by lightning, not once but twice.

Not only was Beth Peterson hit twice, but the second strike came one year to the day after the first - and only three miles away, according to Kgan, the CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids.

Now Peterson has written a book, "Life After Lightning," which chronicles the highs and lows of her recovery.

She lost toes, had to relearn how to walk and read and write, and still feels electricity surging through her body, but says every day is now a blessing. (Ani) »

The top 25 underappreciated films of 2011

12 March 2014 4:15 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Odd List Ryan Lambie Simon Brew 13 Mar 2014 - 05:44

Our voyage through history's underappreciated films arrives at the year 2011, and a great year for lesser-seen gems...

Even a cursory glance at the top 10 grossing films of 2011 reveals something strange: nine of the entries are sequels. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 brought the fantasy franchise to a close with a staggering $1.3bn haul. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon wasn't too far behind with just over $1.1bn. On Stranger Tides continued the Pirates Of The Caribbean series' wave of success, despite mixed reviews.

Elsewhere in the top 10, you'll find another Twilight, a fourth Mission: Impossible, a second Kung Fu Panda, a fifth Fast, another Hangover, and further Cars. Standing alone on the list is The Smurfs, the adaptation of Peyo's Belgian comic strip. In fact, 2011 saw the release of no fewer than 28 sequels - the most we've yet seen in any given year. »

Ed Helms To Commit An Epic Fail For Lionsgate

11 March 2014 10:36 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

It.s hard to figure out exactly what kind of star Ed Helms really is. The comedy lifer has done time in bit parts in colorful ensembles, rising to prominence as a member of The Wolfpack in The Hangover. But since then, he.s had a sea of studio projects fall apart, and he suffered the fate of the final season of The Office, sidelined in favor of other characters. Audiences know him, but by name? Hard to say. The world isn.t exactly bubbling over with Cedar Rapids fans. But he.s a funny guy, and the former Daily Show correspondent is taking his career into his own hands, having conceived of a new starring vehicle (with Nicky Weinstock) for Lionsgate called Epic Fail According to The Wrap, Helms would play the blackest of black ops soldiers, a guy called the Walrus who leads an elite team on a »

The top 25 underappreciated films of 2009

19 February 2014 5:01 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Odd List Ryan Lambie Simon Brew 20 Feb 2014 - 05:40

The unloved films of 2009 provide the focus in our final list of the 2000s' overlooked greats...

The year 2009 will partly be remembered as the year Avatar dominating the box office, with audiences flocking to see James Cameron's leafy pulp epic in shimmering 3D. Making almost $2.8bn worldwide, Avatar was a true behemoth, besting Cameron's own Titanic as the highest-grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation) and hastening a rush of 3D films in the years that followed.

Films such as 2012, Sherlock Holmes and boozy comedy The Hangover were also among the top 10, but as always, some of the most memorable and individual films of the year were far from the most financially successful. So to round off our series of underrated flicks of the 2000s, here's our selection of 2009's overlooked films...

Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor Board Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter as Executive Producers

Still riding high on the waves of his success following last year’s Nebraska, with early predictions set for at least a nod for Bruce Dern in tomorrow’s Oscar nominations, Alexander Payne has found his next project in Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter.

Directed by David Zellner, the drama is led by the Oscar-nominated Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, Pacific Rim), and will be making its debut at Sundance next week.

Deadline reports that Payne and his Oscar-winning frequent collaborator Jim Taylor (Sideways, About Schmidt) have boarded the film as executive producers ahead of its Sundance bow.

Kumiko lives in a cluttered, cramped apartment in Tokyo with her pet rabbit, Bunzo. She works as an office lady, robotically preparing tea and fetching dry cleaning for her nitpicky boss. But on her own time, she obsessively watches a well-known American film on a weathered VHS tape. Rewinding and fast-forwarding repeatedly, she meticulously maps »

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life — a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. This fall, Steve Carell gets into family film mode with the adaptation of the beloved children's book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. Carell and Jennifer Garner lead the family as the mother and father, with relatively unknown child actor Ed Oxenbould taking the titular lead who wakes up with gum stuck in his hair. A first look photo shows the family in the middle of their horrible day as something seems to have gotten inside their house. Look!
