Morgan Neville's moving tribute to background singers, the documentary "20 Feet From Stardom," opened last Friday in select theaters and in turn brought a lot of overdue attention to the artists profiled in the film. While audiences for the most part are likely unfamiliar with the majority of singers that populate Neville's film, anyone who watches NBC's hit show "The Voice," will no doubt recognize one of the film's key players, aspiring solo star and background vocalist Judith Hill. A contestant from this season of "The Voice" (in a surprising upset she was eliminated in May), Hill endeared herself to the masses thanks to her powerhouse vocals, genuine likeability and unrelenting drive. And unlike many on the show, she came with to the competition with experience -- Hill was slated to duet with Michael Jackson on his "This Is It" worldwide tour before his death; after his passing she sang at his memorial service. »

Los Angeles — Michael Jackson's personal chef described for jurors the home lives of the children during the final months of the singer's life and their ongoing grief over their father's death nearly four years ago.
Gone are the freewheeling days when the children, Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson played with their father and traded jokes at the dinner table, chef Kai Chase told jurors Tuesday.
It has been replaced, Chase said, by a weight on eldest son Prince Michael Jackson's shoulders. Daughter Paris Jackson cries and no longer wants parties for her birthday since her father hosted a private circus for her 11th birthday. Youngest son Blanket, who remains home-schooled, wears a T-shirt with his father's image every Friday, she said.

Mistresses proved that the best intentions can send you straight to Hell this week... or at least bring you close to being arrested for "Breaking and Entering."
I like Karen, but sometimes I think she is the dumbest smart woman on TV. I suppose being well educated doesn't give someone common sense, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.
For a psychiatrist, she's certainly unable to decipher her own behavior. She can't stay away from Tom's family because she misses Tom. Oor she feels so guilty for the affair that she's hoping to get caught. It's probably a little bit of both.
The problem is that she's not only hurting herself, she's hurting Sam and Elizabeth. Now Elizabeth must deal with the suspicion that her late husband was having an affair and Sam gets to live with the guilt of exposing that information to his mom.

The Fall proved to be one of the most successful British crime-dramas in many years. It attracted huge viewing figures and left UK viewers feeling just that little bit proud of themselves. You could almost hear the nation sigh in relief, ‘We did it. Finally. A clever, psychological thriller without a Scandinavian woolly jumper or a HBO sticker in sight’.
The Fall certainly was compelling. The series is set in Northern Ireland and follows an investigation into a spate of recent murders involving young professional women. With the case stalling, outsider Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson of X-Files fame) is called in for help. Los Angeles — The head of Aeg Live LLC told jurors Wednesday that he knew Michael Jackson as a sophisticated, forceful businessman and not the drugged-up performer who's been described throughout an ongoing civil trial filed over the singer's untimely death.
Jackson was a far more complex figure than has been portrayed during the trial of a case filed by the singer's mother against Aeg Live over her son's death, said Randy Philips, the company's president and CEO.
Phillips said based on meetings he had with Jackson in 2008 and early 2009, he found Jackson to be a "sophisticated man who had control of his life."
The portrait of Jackson that's been presented to the jury during the seven-week trial has been inaccurate, Phillips said. Jackson was described by both sides in opening statements as struggling with prescription drug addiction throughout his life.

Los Angeles — The head of the company promoting Michael Jackson's ill-fated comeback concerts told jurors Thursday that he never consulted a mental health professional to help the singer despite two high-level show workers suggesting it was necessary.
Aeg Live CEO Randy Phillips testified about emails he sent and received in the week before Jackson's death, including a production manager's characterization that the entertainer's condition was "deteriorating."
Phillips is testifying in a negligent hiring case filed by Jackson's mother against Aeg Live LLC, claiming the company failed to properly investigate the doctor convicted of giving her son a lethal dose of an anesthetic. Los Angeles -- The head of Aeg Live told a jury on Tuesday that he believes a lawsuit filed by Michael Jackson's mother against the concert promotion company was a baseless extortion attempt.
CEO Randy Phillips also said the company bears no responsibility for Jackson's 2009 death, as his mother contends.
Katherine Jackson is suing Aeg Live LLC, claiming it failed to properly investigate the doctor who was later convicted of her son's death. Aeg denies wrongdoing.
Phillips said he agreed with statements attributed to him and defense attorney Marvin S. Putnam that the case was a shakedown.
