A documentary crew followed Metallica for the better part of 2001-2003, a time of tension and release for the rock band, as they recorded their album St. Anger, fought bitterly, and sought the counsel of their on-call shrink.
Aging Cuban musicians whose talents had been virtually forgotten following Castro's takeover of Cuba, are brought out of retirement by Ry Cooder, who travelled to Havana in order to bring the musicians together, resulting in triumphant performances of extraordinary music, and resurrecting the musicians' careers.
In the weeks before his death, Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was rehearsing a show, "This Is It," that was to open in July. I saw This Is It today and all i can say is that it is fitting for the man Michael. That will say more than anything else about how well done this movie is. It makes me sad when i see what a fantastic production this could've been to know that the world never got a chance to see it. But i know it would've been amazing, that's more than enough for me.
For the film it is basically all of his biggest hits that would've been performed in the shows on the big screen instead. It's just rehearsal but he's still amazing in them. Between each song you got some insight into the bigger picture of the shows themselves, and sometimes you'd even get to see Michael as himself.
Michael you were truly one of God's greatest gifts to those of us lucky to be alive now. R.I.P
