16 October 2017 11:56 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It's been a long time coming, but Saw 8 is just around the corner. Despite the fact that Saw: The Final Chapter promised an end to the twisted murder games, Lionsgate couldn't resist giving us another installment of the legendary horror franchise this Halloween season. In order to scare up some excitement, the studio has released a brand new featurette for Jigsaw, which recaps the entire Saw franchise one gruesome kill at a time.

The featurette, titled The Philosophy of Jigsaw, reviews the reason that Tobin Bell's serial killer does what he does. As John Kramer reminds us in this video, "Those who don't appreciate life don't deserve it." The video opens up with a quick reminder of this exact philosophy, but then it transitions into a rapid-fire recap of some of the most iconic traps and kills, in order, from the entire franchise, leading up to some of the »

Sterile New Posters For Jigsaw Raise Awareness For A Good Cause

26 September 2017 7:31 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

For a horror series renown for its grotesque, toe-curling deaths, Lionsgate’s Saw series actually helps save a lot of lives.

Since the franchise first flickered into life in 2004, the Saw Blood Drive has been a time-honored tradition that encourages film fans to donate blood at various locations across the United States, and it’ll be returning next month to commemorate the release of Jigsaw.

Coming by way of Daybreakers duo Michael and Peter Spierig, Jigsaw is a horror sequel that raises some reasonable question marks over Saw: The Final Chapter‘s evocative, and seemingly conclusive title. Nevertheless, John Kramer is back – or, at least, his disciples are back – for a horror spiel involving sick, twisted traps and mutilated corpses. Wanna’ play a game?

As for the Jigsaw Blood Drive, those brave participants who donate blood for what is undoubtedly a great cause will receive a free ticket to bear »

Where have all the 18 certificate films gone?

17 September 2017 12:33 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Mark Harrison Sep 20, 2017

American Assassin and mother! are both 18-certificate films that landed in UK cinemas the same week. This is not common at all...

This feature is rated 18 for discussion of strong language, sex and violence, and minor spoilers for Black Swan, Logan, John Wick Chapter 2 and American Assassin. There are no spoilers for Mother!.

You know how it is. You wait ages for one film with an 18 certificate and then two of them arrive in UK cinemas in the same week. American Assassin, an action thriller adapted from Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp novels, and Mother!, the new drama from Darrren Aronofsky, both landed in the uppermost BBFC category for 'strong violence'.

It's comparatively rare to see the 18 certificate before films these days, when they used to pop up on all manner of films, from raunchy comedies to sci-fi actioners. In the case of many older films that »

Jigsaw gets a terrifying international poster

19 August 2017 9:45 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Lionsgate has unveiled a brand new Japanese poster for the eighth installment in the Saw series, Jigsaw. On the one-sheet, Billy the Puppet menacingly stares forward with a devious smile plastered on its creepy face. If there’s one face from the Saw films that every horror fan would recognize, even on what looks like a faded photograph, it’s that of Billy’s. See the poster down below…

Out of the movies hitting theaters over the next few months, Jigsaw is a genuine wildcard. While the Saw films are loved by many and have grossed close to $900 million worldwide, it’s been seven years since the previous series entry, Saw 3D. The horror landscape has changed quite a bit since Saw popularized the torture porn “genre”, so it’s anyone’s guess if audiences will show up for Jigsaw.

One would imagine that if the film is a hit with domestic and international audiences, »

Billy Returns in New Jigsaw Poster and Saw 8 TV Spot

Do you want to play a game? If you answered yes, then you've come to the right place. Jigsaw, the upcoming eighth installment of the Saw franchise, is just around the corner. As such, Lionsgate is starting to ramp up the marketing campaign, both domestically and abroad. With that, a brand new Japanese poster and TV spot for Jigsaw have been revealed, with the poster easily being the best one we've seen yet.

The official Japanese Jigsaw Twitter account revealed the new poster, which brings back the familiar Billy puppet, who is lingering in the background of this image. The previous posters didn't bring back the iconic bit of imagery, but the trailer that was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con did bring the creepy puppet back into the fold. Billy, which has certainly earned his place among the pantheon of horror puppets, has been a staple of the franchise since the very first Saw movie. »

Frightfest 2017 Interview: Writer Jared Rivet talks ‘Jackals’

15 August 2017 9:05 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

In his latest FrightFest 2017 interview, host Stuart Wright talks to Jackals screenwriter Jared Rivet about ten plus years it took to get his first feature length screenplay produced. Directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Saw 3D and the awesome Jessabelle), Jackals has it’s European Premiere at Frightfest on Saturday August 26th.

They knew it would take steely resolve and iron daring to go up against the violent sect who have brainwashed their teenage son, Justin. But the estranged Powell family and the cult deprogrammer they’ve hired in desperation had no idea how soon they would become the bloody prey in the suspense shocker, based on a true 1980s story, from director Kevin Greutert the visionary Saw VI and Saw 3D luminary. A potent blend of the horror thriller, home invasion terror and murder cult chiller, prepare for a tense and claustrophobic experience that will shatter your nerves to the bone. »
