On this week’s River Monsters, biologist and extreme angler Jeremy Wade goes on the hunt of a mysterious underwater beast — which has been inflicting terrifying puncture wounds on fishermen. Wade travels to the volcanic South Pacific islands after reports of the unknown monster attacking the men while they worked out at sea. As they have spent their lives fishing, the men are no stranger to the usual suspects that lie under the waves — like barracuda and trevally with their razor-sharp teeth. Jeremy Wade investigates “the case of the stabbed snorkeler” in a preview of Sunday’s episode of Animal Planet’s “River Monsters.” In the episode, Wade travels to Sulawesi, Indonesia, where a snorkeler has been impaled and killed by an unseen underwater assailant in front of a packed tourist beach, the latest in a spate of similar attacks across the region. In the clip, Wade travels out in a canoe with local fisherman, catching a brief glimpse of the fish that has been leaping from the water and spearing fishermen and tourists at random, causing injury paralysis and death.
