While Benedict Cumberbatch‘s adoring fans would love nothing more than to see and/or interact with their beloved British actor on Twitter or Instagram, the Doctor Strange star says he’d be “a disaster” on social media.

“I can’t get involved in social media because as they know, it’d be a disaster. I can’t tweet to save my life,” Cumberbatch tells People. “I’d go over my character limits and never make any sense. It would just consume me and I find that whole thing ultimately very toxic. I’d much rather spend my energy doing »

‘Doctor Strange’: How Filmmaker Scott Derrickson Went Mystical With the Marvel Cinematic Universe

5 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

By introducing magic and mysticism to the McU, “Doctor Strange” further enriches and expands its arsenal of diverse superheroes and distinct worlds. And for horror maven Scott Derrickson (“Sinister,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), it became a creative journey of discovery.

The director not only got to play with the supernatural martial arts genre, but also dabble in exorcising the demons of the suave and arrogant neurosurgeon (the latest eccentric genius played by Benedict Cumberbatch). Strange is forced to look inward and open his mind spiritually after a car accident destroys the use of his hands.

“I’m as unlikely a Marvel director as James Gunn [‘Guardians of the Galaxy’] or the Russo Brothers [‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘Winter Soldier’], but, for me, it provided a more positive approach to horror with a little bit more flair,” Derrickson told IndieWire.

Sherlock Season 4 to premiere on New Year’s Day

26 October 2016 1:07 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like people will be ringing in more than just the New Year on January 1st as the BBC has just revealed that Sherlock‘s fourth season will premiere on New Year’s Day with “The Six Thatchers”. This will be the first new episode of a Sherlock season in almost three years, save for its The Abominable Bride special last year.

Little is known about the fourth season, but it can be assumed that “The Six Thatchers” is a reference to Arthur Conan Doyle’s short story ‘The Adventure of the Six Napoleons’ collected in The Return of Sherlock Holmes.

Previously, Benedict Cumberbatch stated that this season might just be Sherlock‘s final, saying “It feels like the end of an era, to be honest. Series 4 goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately.”

Turns out that, while he didn’t provide the voice, Cumberbatch did the facial capture for the film’s villain Dormammu. “We knew it was an all-cg character, but as we were in production Benedict brought it up as an idea,” Derrickson said. “He said, ‘What would you think about me doing it?’ I said, ‘Let me think about it, you know.’ It’s an interesting idea, because I did fancy the idea that as this other-dimensional being he’s not moving through the Dark Dimension, »

Something that's been on the horizon for ages is that The Avengers, as we know them cinematically, are going to be changing in the coming years. The lineup is going to be shaken up, and Marvel Studios has been working diligently to introduce the future members of the team. Movie Review – Doctor Strange (2016)

Doctor Strange, 2016

Directed by Scott Derrickson

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins

A former neurosurgeon embarks on a journey of healing only to be drawn into the world of the mystic arts.

Despite the fact the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a multi-billion dollar franchise, it still seems weird that Stephen Strange has made his way to the silver screen in 2016. Not exactly one of the most popular first-string characters in Marvel cannon, Doctor Strange has had quite the journey to get here (including a rather rubbish TV movie in the late 1970s) and he’s now being played by one of the biggest actors on the planet in Benedict Cumberbatch. But, has the journey been worth it, and how does The Sorcerer Supreme stand up to previous origin stories?

Cumberbatch puts on his best American accent as he plays Doctor Stephen Strange, »
