The mentally challenged mother Susi Landkron raises a small son, Marcus. With some aid from her mother, Britta, she lives with the 5-year-old boy in her small apartment. When a minor household accident happens and Marcus gets injured, the authorities attempt to take away her son. Desperately she asks solicitor Gregor Ehrenberg for help. He recognizes quickly that the problem is not lack of love or her mental problems. In a parallel plot, Isabel von Brede solves a neighborhood quarrel in the proximity of the solicitor's office. Galip, operating a Turkish Doner fast food van and the operator of a Chinese restaurant are accusing each other of ruining their businesses, escalating into a fire in the kitchen of the Chinese.
