- [Metus drives up to Mata Nui, seeing him for the first time, and points his blade at him]
- Metus: State your business!
- Ackar: So, stranger, what are your plans?
- Mata Nui: I begin searching for a way back to my homeland.
- Ackar: Which is...?
- Mata Nui: You will think it sounds crazy.
- Ackar: Well...
- [chuckles]
- Ackar: Well, no crazier than jumping in the arena, armed with only a tail and... that thing.
- [in reference to Mata Nui's companion beetle, Click]
- Mata Nui: True. My home is far from this place. On another world entirely.
- Mata Nui: Before this day, I've never needed help from anyone or anything. Thank you. I spared your life and you saved mine. Shall we call it even, and go our separate ways?
- Ackar: I don't like this! This canyon's ideal for an ambush.
- Kiina: Please! Even Bone Hunters aren't dumb enough to take on three Glatorian.
- Mata Nui: They're getting bolder! Skrall too! In the past months, they seem to know our every move!
- Ackar: True, but don't worry. It's not like we've got much worth stealing.
- [pause]
- Ackar: Well, maybe Mata Nui does.
- [Click chirps angrily]
- Ackar: I meant his blade, bug face!
- [shakes her head]
- Ackar: I can't believe I'm talking to an insect.
- Mata Nui: When an enemy knows too much, it can only mean one thing: A traitor!
- Ackar: I was thinking the same thing, but who?
- Ackar: Hey... What you did with the Vorox tail and... Click, could it work with these?
- [everyone draws their worn-out blades]
- Mata Nui: I don't know. This mask gave me new life. But I still don't completely understand its power. I think it only works on things that are or were alive.
- Berix: No problem. Most Glatorian weapons are made of bone or claw.
- Kiina: Collected a few, have you?
- Berix: [chuckles sarcastically] So funny...
- Mata Nui: [reacting with surprise to Ackar's new blade spewing a huge jet of fire] Of course! Fire is your elemental power. The Mask of Life has simply ignited it. You have become a true Toa.
- Ackar: Thank you, friend.
- [puts his hand on Mata Nui's shoulder]
- Mata Nui: Strange. I have worn many titles, been called a lot of things... but never friend.
- [puts his hand on Ackar's shoulder]
- Kiina: Me next!
- [cheerfully holds up her spear that needs a similar overhaul]
- [first lines]
- Mata Nui: [we see a tropical island paradise, in the middle of a beautiful, endless ocean] It is said that all endings are merely beginnings, waiting to be born.
- [two brightly glowing eyes suddenly light up below the island]
- Mata Nui: My beginning was much the same.
- [the ocean waters start to go crazy, the earth rumbles and shatters, mountains crumble, and the tropical island falls apart as a gigantic metal titan awakens and rises up from under it, the broken pieces of the island falling off its enormous body]
- Mata Nui: Once I was a towering giant, ruler of my own universe. Fearless. Beholden to none. Protector of my people.
- [we see a flourishing civilization of colorful beings, called Matoran, inside the robot's body, each of them happy and cheerful]
- Mata Nui: Until I was betrayed.
- [the yellow eyes of the robot giant flicker out, darkness falls over the universe inside it, then an evil red glow bursts from the robot's eyes]
- Mata Nui: All that I had been, all that I had known was stolen from my by an ever-present evil. My power stripped away. My people enslaved.
- [strange beams of solid light and shutting metal doors capture the frightened Matoran, who try in vain to escape]
- Mata Nui: I was left powerless to save them. And yet a part of me survived. My spirit...
- [a beam of light shoots from the giant robot's chest, flying away into the sky]
- Mata Nui: ... captured and preserved inside a mask warn by a Toa warrior. Its name echoed my rebirth - The Mask of Life!
- Tuma: [Mata Nui confronts Tuma] Yeeesssss. So brave. I hoped all the Glatorian would come. But it seems they're even bigger cowards than I thought! Either he's a madman, or he'd like to join the winning side! Which is it?
- Mata Nui: I'm here to fight form my friends' freedom. One on one. Unless the Skrall leader is the real coward.
- Tuma: I'm going to enjoy tearing that fancy mask from your face!
- [Mata Nui has defeated Tuma and holds up his shield; turns at the sound of clapping; Kiina and Berix look down from their cage]
- Metus: [laughs as he descents stairs while clapping with Kiina's trident tucked under his left arm] I can always pick a winner.
- [seriously to Mata Nui]
- Metus: Now, throw down your shield and your weapon.
- [Mata Nui stares in shock as the Bone Hunters and Skrall snarl and wave their weapons about]
- Metus: That's not a joke.
- Mata Nui: So, *you* were the traitor all along.
- [throws Tuma's shield aside and turns Click back into a Scarabax; sets him down on the ground]
- Mata Nui: Save yourself, my friend.
- [Click scuttles away and looks back to Mata Nui before burrowing underground]
- Metus: [drives Kiina's trident into the ground, trying to kill Click] Cursed insect!
- Kiina: You *coward*! Keeping tabs on the Glatorian so you can sell us out to the Skrall?
- Metus: Not a coward! Just a good businessman!
- Mata Nui: [snarls] *You* were the one that convinced them to unite!
- Metus: Of course I did. You think they'd come up with that on their own? As rival tribes, the nomads did little damage, but together, under one ruler...
- Kiina: You'd lead them against your own people?
- Metus: What have the Agori ever done for me?
- Berix: Oh, well, let's see. We *trusted you*?
- Kiina: The Glatorian will tear you apart for this!
- Metus: [turns from Kiina to Mata Nui] She still doesn't understand.
- Mata Nui: [nods, turns to Kiina] We are the only ones that know.
- [Kiina gasps]
- Metus: Exactly. And by the time the Glatorian realise it, the battle will already be over. I win.
