Forts and papier mache

'Phineas and Ferb' was one of the few Disney Channel shows in (relatively) recent years that was watched by me and my siblings, also Disney fans, since its inception and continued to watch completely hooked, the re-runs being holiday highlights. That's no joke. The earlier episodes are better than the later ones, funnier and more creative, but even when the show was not at its best it was better than quite a lot of the shows airing on Disney Channel, which has not been the same it used to be for years, at the time.

Neither "Thaddeus and Thor" and "De Plane, De Plane" are among my favourite episodes of 'Phineas and Ferb'. They are still both excellent episodes, that contains pretty much everything that makes the show so great. If there is a preference regarding which episode is better, my vote would be "De Plane, De Plane" marginally, it has the more inspired concept and the execution is more imaginative in the main plot. As said though, both episodes are excellent.

"Thaddeus and Thor" is slightly rushed on occasion and could have had a little more variety, the scenario is not that original this time. There are a number of very funny moments though, great sharp character interaction and there is a nice nostalgic feel.

"De Plane, De Plane" is a lot of fun, it's never dull while not being too manic, the dialogue is intelligent and beautifully balanced so the target audience is never called into question, the inventive concept never gets repetitive or tired and the gags are many and all of them hit. Loved both Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplots equally, the one for "De Plane, De Plane" sounds mundane but is much loonier (in a good way) than it sounds.

Coming onto talking about individual elements, the animation is bright and colourful, with such vibrant colours that literally pop out at you and beautifully detailed backgrounds. The chariot racing looks cool and the transitions are slick. The music is in the style that is not usually my style of choice when listening to music, but it is very catchy and pleasant to listen to. The theme song is irresistible with a melody that sticks in the head for days without being an earworm and with very quotable lyrics.

Writing is spot on, while the character writing and interaction is neither bland or annoying and the voice work fits every character like a glove. Dan Povenmire always sounds like he was having a blast as Doofenschmirtz.

In summary, excellent. 9/10.

"Thaddeus and Thor" & "De Plane! De Plane!"

"Thaddeus and Thor"

While not the best of series' episodes, this episodes shows a hilariously competitive Candace and Doofenshmirtz. Though they don't have speaking parts again, Mindy, Thaddeus and Thor are pretty fun lesser versions of Candace, Phineas and Ferb. The episode's fantastic animation, combined with these elemets, made it a really fun 11 minutes. (9/10)

"De Plane! De Plane!"

Despite not being as funny as the previous episode, I still prefer this episode. The reason is that there's a lot of charm in this episode, especially from the gang. I love that we just spent an entire Candace-busting-free episode with the gang. I felt like a kid again whenever we're in the gorgeously designed plane. I wanted to be with the gang here and just relax. There's also the Doofenshmirtz-Perry and Candace stories and they are as funny as they usually are. (10/10)
