Storyline

1920;- June is running an art gallery in London,where Soames comes to an exhibition with Fleur, his daughter by second wife Annette. Irene is also there with Jon, her son from her marriage to Jolyon. Whilst Irene is not happy to see her ex-husband the youngsters hit it off and Fleur invites herself to stay with Dartie's son Val and his wife Holly, in the knowledge that Jon is learning agriculture at a nearby farm. Aware of the feud in their family they agree to keep their friendship a secret but Holly notices and tells her father, Jolyon. Soames attends a charity auction for war victims organized by aristocratic ex-soldier Michael Mont and the two men become friends due to a mutual love of art. Prosper Profond, a wealthy Armenian, acquaints himself with Montague Dartie through a shared interest in horse-racing, flirting with Winifred but also going on a date with Soames' wife Annette.
