Best episode of the season so far
jancape31 July 2021
That seems like an exaggeration but I'm being serious when I say that. It's got everything you could ever ask for in the show. The story, comedy, romance, and character moments were all on point. They managed to fit 3 different storylines into one episode and not make it feel rushed. It also has some of the most gorgeous animation in the season to date.

Way different (and better) than I thought it would be
ErysMae-3164031 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season two of the owl house has been consistently impressing me. Despite this, I saw the title and general description of this episode and assumed it would be good, but nothing special. I couldn't have been more wrong in the best way possible.

I am amazed at the amount of lore and plot points we got with this episode. We got the three classifications of demons and then very quickly learned that not only does King not fit into any of them, but he also has a unique ability of his own in the form of a sonic blast. I liked King's segment of the story, but it was my least favorite of the three.

After King's story was done, we got Eda's story, which explained the origin of the owl beast and events in her life that the owl beast affected, like her Dad (his first appearance!) getting hurt and Raine breaking up with Eda (this makes their interactions in the previous episode far more interesting). Eda then creates a truce with the owl beast and can now take the form of a harpy (with a very cool design). This segment was extremely dense and fleshed out Eda's backstory a surprising amount in the time it took.

Then came Luz's (and Amity's segment). The last thing I expected from this episode was progression on Luz and Amity's relationship (or really any interaction between them), but here we are. Luz and Amity are dating, they are still blushing messes around each other, and it's still absolutely adorable. I am happy to say that, in a children's tv show (made by Disney no less), has a canon WLW couple of main characters, and it's not even the end of the show. I can't wait to see these two get to interact as a couple for more than half of season two and all of (the admittedly short) season three.

This is not the episode I was expecting to watch and it far exceeded my expectations by any reasonable measure. I am very excited for the upcoming episodes and I can't wait to see where this show goes.

Easily the best episode in The Owl House and one of the best episodes of all time!!!
tranefeldtnoa31 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe they pulled off an episode like this. It's astounding! The fact that it's split into different parts, where they focus on one plot at a time (except for in the beginning and end, where all three plot points all merge into one), makes it easy to focus on one plot. Also, this episode has, hands down, the best pacing I have ever seen! It's like the great pacing in The Tales of Ba Sing Sae, in Avatar, but instead of the plot points being completely separate and not having anything to do with eachother, all of the problems are first introduced in the beginning of the episode and then, again, in the end, where everything is concluded, together. All of the plots are also connected to plots that have been previously developed in the season. The sheer thought of the writers putting in so much development for plots and characters, without it feeling rushed is impressive enough! The series actually tried this kind of "three-plot-episode" previously, in Once Upon a Swap (aka the worst episode in The Owl House), but this time it actually worked. King faces the fact that he doesn't know what species he is and discovering new powers, Eda confronts The Owl Beast and ends up forming a truce with it, causing her to turn into Harpy Eda, Luz and Amity faces their fears by asking eachother out and Hooty learns that he is important, even though he isn't very appreciated by Luz, King and Eda very often. Everything in this episode is just so good and done to absolute perfection. This is one of the three best episodes I've ever seen. Possibly the best one. I could literally write thousands of words about this episode, explaining to extreme detail about the greatness of this episode and all of its incredible development for their main characters and plots in season 2.

A master piece
xperiwinklerose31 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There's not much I can say. It covered all aspects of the show, kings dad and him trying to find out who he is, either dealing with her owl inner thing, and Luz and Amity. And they finally asked each other out! This episode was all I could ask for and more and it's just a masterpiece.

"It's gonna be a filler episode, right? ....RIGHT?"
pietrawisk16 August 2021
Holy mother of Jesus I was not ready for this "hooty episode" to be the one where we get the kost plot, the most lore dump, the kost backstory and the most character development for our main crew. I was gasping and on the edge of my seat for every second of this episode. And the eay it was structured was perfect.

I won't spoil anything but the development we got for Luz' problem is groundbreaking, is so cute and refreshing, I was honestly and pleasantly surprise to see something like that so soon in the season. Watch the ep, you'll know what I mean! ;) 10/10 no doubt.

This had me laughing, screaming, and tearing up

I thought this would be a filler, and even though the plot took a backseat, we got some lore and amazing development on some character arcs.

Probably my favorite episode so far.

Continues to amaze

Warning: Spoilers
Every time I think The Owl House is gonna lose steam, they continue to make absolute gold like this. Not only do we get some more of Hooties over-the-top friendliness, but we get to expand on King, Eda, Luz and Amity's developments in their respective arches.

King learning another clue about who he is was simple but inspired, Eda's nightmare sequence was one of the best things I've yet to see in this show, and the artists can put so much character into Amity's expressions.

LUMITY FOREVER! <3 I like that we can have the chance of seeing these two as a couple going forward!

I will say that the pacing can be feel rushed at times, but given we only have one more abbreviated season, that's kind of inevitable. Also it would have been nice to acknowledge Hooty needing to respect boundaries more, success or not in this case. But those are nitpicks. This is one of my favorite episodes of the series, which I seem to say after every new episode comes out, so Dana and company are doing a stellar job!

Also, Eda's new "harpie" form is TOTALLY based off of Disney's Gargoyles series from the 90s. I. Love. That. So. Much!!

Warning: Spoilers
I was only expecting a light tap on the shoulder at best, not this barrage of nuclear-charged ICB missiles in the face.

Thank you, Dana and crew, for this AMAZING and precious jewel of a show!

Hooty ruined everything
This made me hate the season more than I do. There are some funny moments. But the plots are as boring as this season. King's was boring as ever. They ruined Eda. AND LUMITY EXISTS. THIS DUMB THING IS ONE OF THE WORST SHIPS I HAVE EVER SEEN. THIS SUCKS. It is beyond the worst episodes of good cartoons. THIS ARNOLD BETRAYS IGGY BAD, EVERYNE KNOWS ITS BENDY BAD, AND IT'S A WISHFUL LIFE BAD. 1/10.

Tis perfect
camdenpsweet2 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, good episode. First review was declined, prob because I fanboyed over how good it was. Anyways, this episode introduced a lot of key things. King gets some new powers, mainly with a loud "WAH" that the whole world can hear. Eda finally comes to a "compromise" with the curse and becomes Harpy Eda, and Lumity becomes real. The episode was good, and, for a Hooty episode, mind you, a HOOTY episode is one of the best in the season. Honestly this whole season was just amazing, and this episode nearly takes the cake, only behind the Season finale and Hollow Mind. So yeah, a perfect 10/10 from me. TLDR; just watch Owl House.

Good BUT..
TF_IMDb_Account1 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like this wasn't a phenomenal episode but the ending of the episode, the joke that could've been used for massive character development for king but instead just a throwaway gag, that almost ruined the entire episode for me.

Frustrating ending
pauli_gomez9 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited when HE appeared, and then Hooty ruined everything! I felt very, very frustrated.

By the rest of the eoisode was wonderful! I loved the animation and even when he can be too much and do more harm than good, I have to appreciate how much he cares and all the effort he put in helping his inhabitants was incredible!

And of course, Luz and Amity were super cute, even when I wanted to scream to Luz to remain quiet! I mean, yes, she was annoying, but she is also a teenager, and real teenagers are awkward and annoying ;-) And the scene of the small Beast sleeping in Eda's lap was adorable.

Y'all this wasn't THAT great
pledgerock19 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone is talking about the lore and how this wasn't a filler episode and yes, finally at the end we get something. But before that, it was total filler! Hooty is a fun character but I like him more in small doses. Him screaming throughout the episode was grating to me. The joke at the end was just so frustrating! That was the only lore we got and it's nothing.

Also ALSO ALSO WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING WITH FAKE LUZ?! WHY IS IT TAKING THIS LONG TO CONTINUE WITH THAT PLOT LINE??? It's very frustrating. Guess I gotta wait.

Well I still have it an 8. Because Luz and aAaaAAAAAmity Finally. YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH.
