Toulouse, France — Out in force with 29 animated series projects pitched at Cartoon Forum, France also swept all three awards at the co-production mart’s 25th edition.
Les Films de L’Arlequin (“Hollow Land”) took the Producer of the Year award; France’s Canal Plus nabbed the Broadcaster of the Year kudo; and Mediatoon Distribution (“The Garfield Show”) snatched up the Animation Distributor/Investor of the Year nod.
The Cartoon d’Or award went to Belgium’s “The Christmas Log” (“La buche de Noel,” pictured above), a stop-motion skein from Stephane Aubier and Vincent Patar, the Belgian duo who directed “A Town Called Panic” and the Oscar-nominated “Ernest & Celestine.” “Christmas” is produced by Belgium’s Panique, in co-production with France’s Autour de minuit.

Paris– France and U.K. industryites are leading tribute nominations at the 25th Cartoon Forum, the European TV animation showcase set in Toulouse.
British shingles Blue-Zoo Productions (“Tree Fu Tom”) and Robin Lyons (“Help! I’m a Teenage Outlaw”) will compete with France’s Les Films de L’Arlequin (“Hollow Land”), Belgium’s Leon Perahia (“Wolfy, The Incredible Secret”) and the Netherlands’ Submarine (“Fox and Hare,” pictured above) for the producer of the year award.
Cartoon Movie will also deliver an award to the year’s best animation distributor or investor. Nominees are Gaul’s Dandelooo (“Little Houdini”) and Mediatoon Distribution (“The Garfield Show”), U.K.’s Hit Entertainment (“Tale of the Brave”) and Serious Lunch (“Angelo Rules »
