I watched Part 1 of this 6 film series by Ken Burns. It is about Yosemite and Yellowstone. Of course, I have seen both of these National Parks. The film focuses on politics and what it took to preserve these natural wonders. Naturalist John Muir is the star of the show. This eccentric weirdo was a western version of Henry David Thoreau. Yosemite is noted for its Mariposa (butterfly) Grove of Sequoias. Muir insisted that the valley was carved by glaciers. Yellowstone is famous for Old Faithful, the geyser that shoots its water into the air at regular intervals. I look forward to visiting Grand Teton National Park for the August 21, 2017, total solar eclipse.
