Logan blackmails Novakovich into returning to treaty negotiations by threatening to reveal Russia's complicity in Samir's attacks. Jack's investigations lead him back to CTU to interrogate Dana Walsh, who, according to Bazhaev, was placed at CTU by the Russian government and has evidence and names of conspirators thereby. Logan finds out and is forced to reveal the truth about the Russians to President Taylor. Logan convinces Taylor that if the Russians are exposed, they will back out of the peace negotiations and destroy any chance of peace with the IRK. Taylor travels to CTU to meet Jack in person and after a heated exchange orders him to stand down. Jack is to be taken off-site by helicopter for debriefing, but holds his escort at gunpoint and escapes alone on the helicopter, leaving Chloe with no choice but to order fighter patrols to force him down.
In summary, here the events that happened during that hour:
1.Charles Logan confronts Mikhail Novakovich about his country's involvement in the plot against President Omar Hassan. Soon after, President Allison Taylor contacts Logan to let him know that Novakovich agreed to return to the peace talks.
2.President Charles Logan confesses the truth of the Russian conspiracy to President Taylor, and warns that if Jack Bauer gets this information out of the Russians' mole in CTU, the peace agreement will be over.
3.Under interrogation by Jack, Dana Walsh, reveals that she has audio and video files that can bring down the conspiracy and will release them for a pardon.
4.President Taylor tells Jack Bauer that she will not grant Walsh immunity; he realizes that she is actively covering up the Russians' conspiracy. While being transported to McGuire Air Force Base for debriefing, he hijacks a helicopter and flies west toward Manhattan.
5.Chloe O'Brian orders Agent Winnick to call the FAA and the Air Force.
Charles Logan takes on the spotlight as he was able to convince Mikhail Novakovich to return to the peace talks, but refuses to tell President Taylor how he was able to do so.Also,we get exposed that the writers made a weak character in President Allison unlike the previous US Presidents of the show from David Palmer,Mike Novick,Powers Boothe,Charles Logan and Wayne Palmer.Too bad about that development.
Finally,we get a CTU mole brought down in Dana Walsh and Jack managed her to cooperate. As evident in the writing,we get to see Jack have to be so predictable in his actions just like the rehashed plot lines. When he gave in to President Taylor demands of confinement, he wasn't going to go without a fight. The only reason he probably played it calm, was because his plan would have been a lot easier without having it done in handcuffs. We know how Jack always go against the authorities from the White House,CTU and the others. The only thing new is that Jack Bauer heads to federal court to interrogate Sergei Bazhaev, who confesses to a much larger enemy in the midst of today's events instead of using the so-called politics of torture the show is known for.
