- Sergei Bazhaev: I knew you were a cop. I should have trusted my instincts and killed you right on the spot.
- Jack Bauer: Oh, you can add it to your list of regrets.
- Arlo Glass: What're you doing? We've got a "situation", you need to be on the floor
- Dana Walsh: I heard you, I'll be right there
- Arlo Glass: Who was that on the phone?
- Dana Walsh: That's none of your business
- Arlo Glass: Actually it is: when you start sneaking away from the office, making me cover for you, it becomes my business. Now who was that? Kevin?
- Dana Walsh: How the hell... are you spying on me?
- Arlo Glass: Look, if you want to "step out" on your fiancée, is fine with me. God knows I...
- Dana Walsh: [Interrupts him] you have no idea what you're talking about. I am not cheating on Cole
- Arlo Glass: Ok, whatever you want to call it, you better start telling your "boyfriend" what's going on, or I will. Now come on, our undercover operation just went "south"
- Dana Walsh: What's happened?
- Arlo Glass: Jack Bauer was grabbed by an unknown group of Russians. We think they're the ones in control of the nuclear rods
- Dana Walsh: Are we tracking them?
- Arlo Glass: We can't
- Cole Ortiz: [Communicating through COMM] they took Bauer through an underground access behind the building: without aerial support, the best my people could do is track them to a drainage junction near avenue Y and Ocean, they must've had a vehicle standing by. Jack's cell phone was trashed at the scene
- Brian Hastings: There has to be something on the site to help us ID the vehicle, tire treads, transmission fluid, oil residue?
- Cole Ortiz: No, there's nothing sir. The trail's gone "cold"
- Brian Hastings: Well, what about Walker? Did she get a look at these people?
- Cole Ortiz: don't know sir. Frankly, she's pretty "messed up" right now
- Brian Hastings: She murdered our contact: without Vladimir Laitanan, we have no lead to finding Bauer or the nuclear materials. You get her back to CTU for debriefing. I want to know what the hell happened
- Brian Hastings: Yes sir, you might want to "consider" running a psychiatric evaluation on her when we arrive
- Brian Hastings: Count on it
- Sergei Bazhaev: [after kidnapping him] who are you?
- Jack Bauer: [while undercover] Ernst Meier
- Sergei Bazhaev: I've been looking for you to make you an "offer"
- Sergei Bazhaev: You know who I am?
- Jack Bauer: No, all I know is that there's a very powerful man in the Russian syndicate that has been trafficking weapons grade uranium: specifically U-235 fuel rods. After the nasty business with Laitanan, these men brought me here. So I'm just assuming your "that man"
- Sergei Bazhaev: Where did you get this information?
- Sergei Bazhaev: [Irritated] from who?
- Jack Bauer: Farhad Hassan or someone in his "camp". In either case, you're doing business with the wrong "people"
- Sergei Bazhaev: And who are these "people?" The ones you work for?
- Jack Bauer: I'm sure you can understand, I'm not at liberty to say
- Sergei Bazhaev: [after Sergei orders one of his men to punch Jack] you should be less concerned about whom I work for and more concerned about the deal their willing to offer you
- Jack Bauer: I'm not interested in your offer
- Sergei Bazhaev: Two hundred million dollars: half of which is ready to be wired to you immediately. The other half you'll receive on final acquisition of the fuel rods
- Sergei Bazhaev: [Pulls back Jack's hair] you pose a very difficult problem for me: show up out of nowhere, knowing far too much of my business yet I've never heard of you
- Jack Bauer: You've never heard of me because I am good at what I do
- Sergei Bazhaev: What I'm concerned about is that you're a cop
- Jack Bauer: I just killed three people back at that garage. Vladimir Laitanan I stabbed in the eye. You really think I'm a cop?
- Sergei Bazhaev: As a child, I saw KGB throw an entire family off the roof of a building: two of them were small children. I know what cops are capable of, so I ask you again, who do you work for?
- Jack Bauer: I'm sorry I can't tell you that
- Sergei Bazhaev: You have buried your brother's body?
- Josef Bazhaev: [after nodding, hands him the necklace] it's Oleg's: you gave it to him at his confirmation
- Sergei Bazhaev: [Hands it back to him] you keep it, to remind you of him. I'm glad your back: we may have a problem
- Josef Bazhaev: What is it?
- Sergei Bazhaev: There is a man down the hall and claims to be an arms broker. He knows about the nuclear rods
- Josef Bazhaev: [Shakes his head] how could he?
- Sergei Bazhaev: He says there was a "leak" from Farhad's people but I wonder until I know for certain who and what this man is, I've stopped the transfer of the rods: they've been redirected to our waste station off the Wantagh Parkway
- Josef Bazhaev: I'm sure Farhad can't be happy about that
- Sergei Bazhaev: I haven't told him yet, perhaps we should tell him together?
- Josef Bazhaev: How long do you plan to hold him off?
- Sergei Bazhaev: That depends
- Josef Bazhaev: On what?
- Sergei Bazhaev: On how long it takes Dmitri to "break" this guy
- Cole Ortiz: [Talking privately] what's up? You alright?
- Dana Walsh: No, I'm not. I have a big problem and it's the reason why I've been acting kind of weird the past few days
- Cole Ortiz: Ok. Look, if your calling off the engagement, you couldn't have picked a worse day
- Dana Walsh: No, I would never do that
- Cole Ortiz: Good, then what's bothering you?
- Dana Walsh: There are things about my past that I haven't told you
- Cole Ortiz: I'm listening. I'm sure I haven't told you everything about my past either. I don't care what happened before I met you: all that matters is now and what we have to look forward to
- Dana Walsh: I also think that's all that matters
- Cole Ortiz: So what're you so worried about?
- Dana Walsh: I don't want to lose you
- Cole Ortiz: I'm not going anywhere
- Brian Hastings: [Over the phone] we are "exhausting" all efforts to ascertain who took Bauer and where but until any progress is made, we just have to "hope" that Jack can find some way of "salvaging" the operation on his end
- Rob Weiss: [Over the speakerphone as Taylor stands nearby] what makes you even think Bauer's still alive?
- Brian Hastings: Only the fact that he wasn't killed at the point of abduction
- President Allison Taylor: Mr. Hastings, I need a realistic assessment: what are the odds of finding and securing these nuclear weapons within the next few hours?
- Brian Hastings: I can't answer that ma'am but the longer we're out of touch with Bauer, the less likely are our chances
- President Allison Taylor: Alright Mr. Hastings, continue to coordinate with my Office, I want updates every thirty minutes
- Brian Hastings: [Before Weiss hangs up] yes ma'am
- Farhad Hassan: [after Sergei enters the room with his son Josef] yes? What is it?
- Sergei Bazhaev: There is a man downstairs who's shown up to outbid you for the fuel rods
- Farhad Hassan: [Amused] is this some feeble "attempt" to renegotiate terms?
- Sergei Bazhaev: Not at all: this man Meier claims someone in your organization tipped him off to our deal
- Farhad Hassan: That's not possible, his lying
- Sergei Bazhaev: In light of his "sudden appearance", I am holding delivery of the rods for the time being
- Farhad Hassan: What? You can't do that
- Sergei Bazhaev: It's already done. I cannot take the risk of that we may be exposed
- Farhad Hassan: The longer you delay, the more time my brother has to crush his enemies. If he manages to purge everyone in the military who opposes him, the uranium is worthless to me
- Sergei Bazhaev: That's your concern: mine is to make certain this Meier is not a policeman. One of my men is interrogating him now
- Farhad Hassan: [Irritated] that could take hours, even days
- Sergei Bazhaev: Not days. I can promise you that
- Farhad Hassan: You "promised" to assassinate my brother too, your failure to eliminate him has put me under enormous pressure and now because your people inability to maintain secrecy, your break our timetable to suit your needs...
- Josef Bazhaev: [after putting a gun to Farhad's head] don't speak to my father that way: we have honored every agreement we've made with you, and spilled a lot of blood for it. My father has allowed you to stay here and hide from the Feds at great personal risk to our family
- Farhad Hassan: [to Sergei] tell... him to put the gun down
- Josef Bazhaev: [Ignores Farhad] no, we're not taking any more of your demands. Throw him out of here: let his own people "shelter" him if he thinks we're such fools, I'll drive him there myself if that's what it takes
- Sergei Bazhaev: [Steps closer to Farhad] it would seem you used up our hospitality here. Perhaps it's best you joined your men at the rendezvous point to wait for delivery?
- Farhad Hassan: And when will that be?
- Sergei Bazhaev: When I think it's safe: not a moment before
- President Omar Hassan: I'm in the middle of a crisis, so unless it's an emergency...
- Kayla Hassan: [Interrupts him] it is an emergency: we need to talk about you having Tarin arrested
- President Omar Hassan: Tarin has been taken to the embassy to help clarify a few "questions". It's strictly routine
- Kayla Hassan: I know you believe his been working against you but I don't understand is why
- President Omar Hassan: He refused to follow my orders
- Kayla Hassan: You asked him to arrest the family of one of your delegates: a man you considered a "friend"
- President Omar Hassan: This is a matter of the state, it doesn't concern you
- Kayla Hassan: It doesn't make sense: Tarin was in the car with you, if the assassination attempt was successful, he would've been killed too
- President Omar Hassan: The world is filled with men willing to die for their cause. I know you consider Tarin a friend and his loyalty is commendable but trust me I have my reasons
- Kayla Hassan: We are more than "friends", we're in love and have been for almost a year
- President Omar Hassan: [Surprised] you've been "carrying on" with this man behind my back?
- Kayla Hassan: You say that to me after driving mother away with your infidelity? Please don't let uncle Farhad's betrayal turn you against everyone who cares about you
- President Omar Hassan: I can't think of a better way to completely infiltrate my life and influence my judgment by getting close to my daughter
- Kayla Hassan: It's not like that
- President Omar Hassan: You are not to see that man ever
- Kayla Hassan: Father...
- President Omar Hassan: I'm done having this conversation. I need to get back to my work
- Kayla Hassan: What's happening to you?
- Brian Hastings: [Briefing CTU staff] ok people, we've ID'd the suspect we have in custody: his name is Sergei Petrovich Bazhaev, a Ukrainian national sixty one years of age. Now we believe his the one who knows the location of the unsecured nuclear rods. Tactical is on their way to transport him back here for interrogation. Agent Ortiz will coordinate operations from here
- Sergei Bazhaev: I knew you were a cop. I should have trusted my instincts and killed you right on the spot
- Jack Bauer: Oh, you can add it to your list of regrets. CTU has already acquired a great deal of intel on you
- Jack Bauer: [after he doesn't respond] it's over: you know that right? You're finished. I mean on the very least we've got you on kidnapping and murder and that's before CTU rips this place apart and uncovers the rest of your criminal activity: luckily for you though, I'm only interested in "one thing" and that's the acquisition of those fuel rods. So if you were to cooperate, help me out there, that would a long way to reduce what is clearly is going to be a long prison sentence: that offer extends to both of your sons too: Josef and Oleg
- Sergei Bazhaev: Oleg is dead, he was exposed to the rods and became ill with radiation poisoning. He was suffering and I shot him as if he was a sick dog. I murdered my own son... for nothing. You want to know where the rods are? I'll tell you but I want full immunity, not just for me but for my other son Josef
- Jack Bauer: [Shakes his head] I don't think I could make that happen
- Sergei Bazhaev: Then we have nothing to talk about
- Jack Bauer: [after thinking it over] I'll see what I can do
- President Allison Taylor: [During a conference call] Jack, President Taylor, you're on with Mr. Hastings and my Chief of Staff: CTU has been keeping me apprised of your involvement in this, I'm sorry it's taken this long for us to speak
- Jack Bauer: I understand and please forgive me for getting straight to the point: the man we have in custody, Sergei Bazhaev is willing to cooperate. He said he will hand over the fuel rods in exchange for full immunity for him and his son
- Rob Weiss: [Sarcastically] is that all? Why don't we give him a parade down Broadway too?
- President Allison Taylor: Jack, you've been dealing with this man. Is there no other way to getting the location of the nuclear materials out of him?
- Jack Bauer: His file said he did twelve years in a Russian labor camp: in the timeframe, we're not going to break him in time, I can see it in his eyes
- President Allison Taylor: Mr. Hastings, what is your assessment?
- Brian Hastings: Well, at first "brush", I'd say an immunity deal is premature but under the circumstances, I'll defer to Jack's judgment on this
- President Allison Taylor: Gentlemen, I have a peace deal that's going to fall apart at any moment unless I can show President Hassan that we have stopped his brother from smuggling those fuel rods out of the country: make the deal Jack
- Jack Bauer: Madam President, his going to want this in writing
- President Allison Taylor: He'll get it but in the interest of expediency, put him on the phone with me
- Jack Bauer: [Before walking over to Sergei] yes ma'am
- Jack Bauer: [to Sergei] The President of the United States wants to talk to you
- Cole Ortiz: You want to tell me what's going on?
- Arlo Glass: What are you talking about?
- Cole Ortiz: You "implied" something about Dana and I want to know what it is
- Arlo Glass: When she came over before and said she had to talk to you, what did she tell you?
- Cole Ortiz: Nothing, she said she had a problem and said she had to handle it
- Arlo Glass: That's it?
- Cole Ortiz: If you know "something"...
- Arlo Glass: Ok, it's none of my business and I didn't want to be the one to tell you this but I think she went to "meet" with some "guy"
- Cole Ortiz: [Amused] you're out of your mind
