Henry Thomas discusses playing music icon Hank Williams in The Last Ride, currently available on Blu-ray and DVD
Henry Thomas captured America's heart as Elliott in the 1982 classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and he hasn't stopped working since. He starred in one of my personal childhood favorites, Cloak and Dagger, and in notable films such as Valmont, Legends of the Fall, Suicide Kings, All The Pretty Horses, Gangs of New York, Dear John, and many more. The actor returns to play music icon Hank Williams in The Last Ride, currently available on Blu-ray and DVD. Set just days before the country singer passed away, this drama is based on the true story of a young man (Jesse James) hired to drive Hank to a series of concerts over the New Year's Eve holiday, and the bond that formed between these very different men. I recently had the chance to speak with »

You’ll definitely remember Anthony Edwards from ER not too long ago, and now he’s set to take on the world of television again with ‘Zero Hour‘. In the show, he returns – along with a dynamic ensemble cast – to this dramatic adventure thriller, as Hank Galliston, a man who’s questioning everything and everyone he ever believed in – including himself. If you’re a fan of Prison Break then you’re sure to want to check this out as Paul Scheuring has created and written this brand-new series.
So far, only the first three episodes have aired in America. The show is airing over the summer so the UK is currently ahead of America and you can find it here: www.itunes.co.uk/tv/zerohour

We suppose one can't predict exactly where they'll be walking throughout the night, but Kate Bosworth must have known she'd come across a sidewalk when she slipped into this dress? Maybe this Proenza Schouler frock wasn't quite so gravel-colored in the light of the Big Sur star's bedroom? We'll give her that benefit of the doubt, but we're not sure we even love the shape or style. Those heavy short sleeves hide her petite shoulders, and the long length in thick teed doesn't feel like pre-summer wear. So, in the end, maybe it's better off fading into the concrete after all... Sorry Kate! »

I was a big fan of ABC‘s Zero Hour when I previewed the pilot last summer, and was disappointed that they were holding it until midseason. When they finally did air it, they had made a few changes with a few scenes, but it was still the cool Indiana Jones-feeling, Nazi hating, twisty fun mysterious show I remembered, complete with creepy baby.
Of course I was horribly disappointed when ABC canceled the series after airing just three episodes, but over-the-moon happy when they announced that they would air all 13 episodes this summer.
Well that happy day is now finally nearly upon us, as Zero Hour returns Saturday at 8/7c with a two-hour premiere. But… it isn’t the pilot. In fact, they are picking up where they left off, and will be airing episodes four and five on Saturday. If you didn’t see the first three episodes when »

We were so disappointed that Zero Hour wasn’t given more time to gain an audience, but at least were pleased when ABC announced that the entire first season would air this summer, including the first three episodes that aired in the winter.
Happily, ABC has now paired those episodes with unaired episodes from another gone-too-soon show from earlier this season, 666 Park Avenue, according to Deadline. As you know from the SciFiMafia.com Spring and Summer Primetime TV Schedule and the SciFiMafia.com Calendar, Zero Hour premieres Saturday, June 15 at 8/7c. 666 Park Avenue will join Zero Hour on June 22, following it at 9/8c and continuing weekly for three more weeks.
Excellent news, I’m So looking forward to summer Saturdays, these were great shows; thanks to ABC for airing the rest of the episodes.

Ketchup Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to Michael Polish’s “Big Sur,” starring Jean-Marc Barr, Kate Bosworth, Josh Lucas, Radha Mitchell and Anthony Edwards.
Five-year-old Ketchup made the announcement at Cannes.
The film, produced by Orian Williams and 3311 Productions, is scheduled for release theatrically in the fall. Ketchup will partner with Arc Entertainment on ancillaries.
“Big Sur” is Polish’s adaptation of the 1962 Jack Kerouac novel of the same name. It follows the author, named Jack Duluoz and portrayed by Barr, on three brief trips to Big Sur when he is unable to cope with a suddenly demanding public and battling advanced alcoholism.
The deal was negotiated by Ketchup Entertainment’s Gareth West and Stephen Stanley with Wme Global.
Ketchup announced last week that it had acquired U.S. rights to Annette Haywood-Carter’s historical drama “Savannah,” starring Jim Caviezel and Chiwetel Ejiofor. »

Kate Bosworth isn't one to necessarily fall for her director. But this time around, it just couldn't be helped. Appearing on Thursday night's Chelsea Lately to hype her latest flick, Black Rock, the 30-year-old actress spilled to Chelsea Handler on her relationship with indie auteur Michael Polish, whom she got engaged to last year. "By the way, they're very, very in love…so it's very sweet. Because you met him on a set, right?" asked the funnylady. "We did…we worked together on a movie called Big Sur," revealed Bosworth. "I fell in love with him as an artist. He's really one of the best directors I've ever worked with, and [I] realized I »

Kate Bosworth loves cooking shows. The 30-year-old actress is obsessed with whipping up dishes and gets her inspiration from 'Top Chef' and 'Chopped'. She told People magazine: 'I love all of the cooking shows like 'Chopped' and 'Top Chef'. I've just started to learn in the last couple of years and I love it. My specialty is a sausage ragu, it takes about six or seven hours to cook. That's almost my mini-vacation, cooking with my fiance Michael [Polish] and his daughter and just having family time.' Kate was previously in relationships with Orlando Bloom and Alexander Skarsgard before she romanced Michael. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Patrick Fischler is a successful working actor in both film and television. Having had memorable roles on two iconic television shows – as Jimmy Barrett on the Emmy Award-winning series Mad Men and as part of the Dharma Initiative on Lost – he also had Big Sur, adapted from the work of Jack Kerouac, premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and the action-thriller 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, opens later this year. On top of all that, Fischler and his actress wife, Lauren Bowles (she plays Holly Cleary on HBO’s True Blood) decided to star in and executive produce their own short film (which she also wrote), called The Test, about a couple at a critical juncture in their relationship. This is terrific news for all who join me in bemoaning the far-too-soon cancellation of supernatural Nazi clock creepy baby puzzler Zero Hour. We were told that the remainder of the episodes would air, and now, happily, that schedule has been set. The news was somewhat giddily tweeted by the Zero Hour writers themselves, or at least whomever has their Twitter password:
Airing update! ABC’s showing all 13 eps of Zero Hour starting Sat. June 15th at 8pm! Set your DVR’s and clear your summer schedules! Whohoo!

That is to say Sat’s @ 8Pm on ABC Starting on 6/15 not all 13 eps on 6/15…you knew that. Nevermind. Is this thing on? Did you hear some…

Okay, so episode 1 airs on Saturday, June 15 at 8/7c *noting*. Back in March when the cancellation news became public, the writers posted this almost more exciting news:

'On The Road' is the ultimate novel for the Beat Generation, with Jack Kerouac, and has weathered many attempts to bring it to the big screen. But finally, it's made it onto celluloid, with the trio of young stars Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, and our own Sam Riley - best known previously for 'Control' and the recent remake of 'Brighton Rock'.

It doesn't sound like Kate Bosworth is a bridezilla-in-the-making. The actress, who is engaged to her Big Sur director Michael Polish, admits she hasn't even started looking at wedding dresses. "I haven't really thought that much about that detail yet," Bosworth told me at the Topshop Topman party at Cecconi's in West Hollywood. "There are lots of things I need to figure out." Polish isn't too concerned about everything coming together. "He's a filmmaker so he said, 'Don't worry. A wedding is just a production. I do it all the time,'" Bosworth said. Whether you were lucky like me and got a very early sneak peek, or if you checked out the preview that ABC has made available online, or if tonight will be your first view, make sure to check out tonight’s season premiere. A melancholic exploration of Jack Kerouac’s mind during his trips to poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s remote cabin on the pacific coast, Big Sur quietly captivates with a moody mix of striking scenery and rapid-fire narration. Kerouac used his prose to break away from the repressive stranglehold of mid-20th century American values and became one of the freewheeling heroes of the Beat Generation. Finding tremendous acclaim as a rebellious writer, celebrity was surprisingly something he didn’t desire and struggled desperately to escape. The pensive focus of this film is the serious depression and consequential alcoholism of a genius bent on self-destruction. Big Sur takes takes a hard look at Kerouac’s deterioration following the wild success of the novel “On the Road” and is almost entirely composed of his anxiety-ridden introspection. This brooding, despair laden story might »

We very much approve of the new-ish network practice of posting a series premiere online before the premiere, especially for good intrigue/supernatural/serial/DaVinci Code-like shows like Zero Hour. Plus Nazis, Anthony Edwards, and old clocks! I was able to check it out last summer and loved it, and hope you’ll love it too. Watch it, make sure to watch it through the very end (trust me), and talk it up with your friends. We need good shows like this to do well.
First, a very cool poster and a reminder of what the show’s about:
