Nick Stahl Missing

Nick Stahl has gone missing, according to various online sources citing a police report filed by his wife. Stahl’s wife hasn’t heard from her estranged husband in five days. She says Stahl, 32, was last seen in the vicinity of downtown Los Angeles’ Skid Row on May 9. Stahl, who reportedly has serious drug issues, has suffered a series of setbacks in the recent past. For starters, Fox passed on the Mark Romanek-directed Locke & Key in spring 2011. After refusing to pay for a cab ride, Stahl spent a night in jail last January. That same month, he and his wife separated. She later requested to the court that his visits to their two-year-old daughter be monitored, and that Stahl be tested for drug use 24 hours before seeing the infant. Among Nick Stahl’s most important film roles are those in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Go On: Punchy Pilot Clips From Matthew Perry’s New Project

Even after eight years, some of us still can’t help but think of him as Chandler from Friends, but Matthew Perry can be seen below in two clips from the pilot episode of his new comedy, NBC’s Go On, as well as being interviewed about the show. Since Friends, Perry has appeared in a number of popular television programmes, including Scrubs and The West Wing (where he first joined forces with screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin; the master of pithy dialogue). Several mediocre films followed, including Numb and 17 Again, but Perry’s strongest roles always appear to come to fruition on the small screen. Once again joining forces with Sorkin, Perry impressed as the co-star of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, and then – to a slightly lesser extent – as the star of Mr Sunshine (which he co-created), but alas, both were cancelled after just one season. This week's new films

The Skin I Live In (15)

(Pedro Almodóvar, 2011, Spa) Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Jan Cornet, Marisa Paredes. 120 mins.

Almodóvar's silky skills and supreme confidence tempt respectable audiences into an elegantly twisted tale of surgical obsession that few others could pull off. It's best not to spell things out too much about this; suffice to say Banderas's project to create a new form of skin, with Anaya his captive guinea pig, doesn't go where you'd expect.

As usual, there's a lot going on beneath the surface.

One Day (12A)

(Lone Scherfig, 2011, Us) Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess, Rafe Spall. 108 mins.

Fans might not have had Hathaway's migratory trans-Pennine accent in mind when they fell in love with David Nicholls's calendar-crossing odd-couple romance on paper, and the equally wayward period details detract even further. A pity, given the promising material, but Grazia readers will lap it up just the same.

Conan The Barbarian (15)

(Marcus Nispel,

This week's new films

The Guard (15)

(John Michael McDonagh, 2011, Ire) Brendan Gleeson, Don Cheadle, Liam Cunningham, Mark Strong, David Wilmot, Rory Keenan. 96 mins

An eccentric crime comedy like only the Irish can make, but not quite the mismatched buddy cop movie it looks. Gleeson is certainly your provincial Garda and Cheadle the uptight FBI import; the actual crime they're investigating – something to do with drug trafficking – is difficult to take seriously, but casual racism and Americanisation are cleverly worked into a self-aware subversion of the Lethal Weapon premise, shot through with warmth and wit.

Cowboys & Aliens (12A)

(John Favreau, 2011, Us) Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde. 118 mins

A genre mash-up no greater than the sum of its expensive, largely second-hand, parts, this summer spectacle corrals its cast and cliches into a plot loopier than an 11-dimensional lasso – though the title gives you a fair idea. If only it didn't try to keep such a straight face.

Interview: Nick Stahl of Meskada

  • Disc Dish
Nick Stahl

Actor Nick Stahl has a long resume, from TV movies and acting opposite Mel Gibson in 1993’s The Man Without a Face, to playing the infamous John Connor in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, to being the innocent but powerful peacemaker in HBO’s acclaimed TV series Carnivale and playing the nasty and appropriately named Yellow Bastard in Sin City. In his latest movie, independent thriller Meskada, he plays Noah Cordin, a police detective trying to solve the murder of child. While the bustling South By Southwest festival raged outside his Austin home, Stahl chatted with Disc Dish about his films, his love of Texas and, of course, his favorite DVDs.

Disc Dish: Looking at your list of movies, you do a lot of indie movies like Meskada. Do you prefer those as opposed to movies like T3?

Nick Stahl: No, it’s just kind of

Movie of the Week

Sucker Punch

The Stars: Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm

The Plot: A young girl (Browning) is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility.

The Buzz: It’s certainly a great time to be a fifteen-year-old boy, isn’t it? It’s a shame I’m twenty years past my prime – Sucker Punch would have been 100% pure Pavlovian arousal for me back then. The batch of battling bombshells cartwheeling in all their gorgeously rendered video-game glory, coupled with the film’s flawless focus on, and impenetrable belief in, the great escape that can

  • IFC
A look at what's new on DVD today:

"Meskada" (2010)

Directed by Josh Sternfeld

Released by Anchor Bay Entertainment

When this thriller premiered at Tribeca this past spring, Alison Willmore wrote, "the second film from writer/director Josh Sternfeld ("Winter Solstice") has ambitions reaching beyond being a straightforward police procedural," though critics, including her, were mixed about the end result. Nick Stahl and Rachel Nichols star as small-town sleuths who investigate a botched home invasion case that claims the life of a young child in an affluent community and enflames class divisions when the main suspects are from the poorer community nearby. Grace Gummer, Meryl Streep's second daughter to go into the family profession, makes her film debut.

Meskada Movie Review
Title: Meskada Directed by: Josh Sternfeld Starring: Nick Stahl (Mirrors 2, Carnivale), Rachel Nichols (Charlie Wilson’s War, Conan), and Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Warrior) Sometimes just simply watching everyday life can be the perfect inspiration for screenwriters and directors who want to perfectly reflect the conflicts of small-towns across America. As Josh Sternfeld, who wrote and directed the new crime-drama-thriller ‘Meskada,’ thought of the fights over territory, the class system and human rights across the country, he visited small towns throughout the U.S. to witness their everyday way of life. What came out of his journey was not only a showcase of [...]

Robert Pattinson Has the Best 'Twilight Saga' Six-Pack, Kellan Lutz Says

Kellan Lutz has weighed in on the debate over which "Twilight Saga" actor has the best six-pack. Speaking to Access Hollywood on the Baton Rouge, Louisiana set of "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn" recently, the actor famed for his portrayal of Emmett Cullen undoubtedly gave his vote to lead actor Robert Pattinson.

"I think Rob [Pattinson] does now," the 25-year-old hunk answered when presented with the question. Explained why he picked Rob instead of Taylor Lautner or himself, the "Meskada" actor said, "Rob has been very diligent on his bicycle. He bikes a lot and he's been training. I'm very impressed with him and I'd say that Rob [has the best abs] now."

As for "Breaking Dawn", Kellan admitted he can't wait to shoot his arm wresting scene with Kristen Stewart. Reasoning that it is "one of those scenes that the fans are really looking forward to", he added, "Even when I do conventions or hang out with the fans,

Arthouse Audit: 'Black Swan' Soars

Black Swan took center stage this weekend, scoring $1.44 million at 18 locations for what is arguably the most impressive limited debut of the year. Black Swan distributor Fox Searchlight's other major Oscar contender, 127 Hours, continued to lose steam, The King's Speech put up strong numbers again, and new releases I Love You, Phillip Morris and All Good Things had decent starts.Black Swan's $80,212 per-theater average landed behind The King's Speech's $88,863 average last weekend, but Black Swan played at four and half times the theaters, making its feat more spectacular. The movie notched Fox Searchlight's highest per-theater average gross ever, and it ranked 21st on the all-time list (sifting out Disney animated movies, it would be in tenth place). Black Swan also came out ahead of Up in the Air, which opened on the same weekend last year, as well as director Darren Aronofsky's last movie The Wrestler. While
