John (William Windom) is working on a sketch at home while deducing that men spend too much time infatuated with their wives. His new neighbor Farley Borel (Craig Stevens, the title role in "Peter Gunn") snidely reminds him that he is neglecting his wife Ellen (Joan Hotchkis) and daughter Lydia (Lisa Gerritsen) whom seem to enjoy the new neighbor's company. The suave Mr. Borel goes on to claim that John hates women, a sentiment backed up by his boss at work Hamilton Greeley (Harold J. Stone). John says, "I'm going to change my image. From now on I'm going to be kind, considerate, and gallant to all womankind." Ellen is wooed by the overbearing "neighborhood Casanova" Mr. Borel while John struggles to change.
