Kevin Costner Prepping Potential Franchise 'The Explorers Guild'

14 September 2012 8:32 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It seems all it took for Kevin Costner to get back on the Hollywood radar in a big way was to star in this summer's smash hit mini-series "Hatfields & McCoys." Since then, he's joined "Jack Ryan" with Paramount eyeing his character for his own movie in the series, and how the actor is gearing another vehicle as a potential franchise. Costner has signed on to produce and star in "The Explorers Guild" based on the forthcoming book series he's been putting together that will hit shelves in 2014 with the first title, "The Explorers Guild, Volume One: A Passage To Shambhala." Prouducer/writer Jon Baird ("Filth," "Green Street Hooligans") will help develop the heavily illustrated books in what sounds like something up Costner's epic wheelhouse. Here's how Deadline breaks down what it's all about:  The Explorers Guild is a clandestine group of adventurers who seek out the places »

New UK Trailer for Comes A Bright Day with Submarine’s Craig Roberts & Imogen Poots

9 July 2012 7:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Due out in cinemas this Friday, Comes a Bright Day stars Craig Roberts (Submarine) in the lead alongside the very much rising young actress, Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later), and now a great new trailer has made its way online for the romantic-thriller.

Simon Aboud makes his feature debut as both writer and director, and with the likes of Timothy Spall (Harry Potter) and Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, Grey’s Anatomy) supporting, you can be sure that this indie is definitely worth looking out for.

“An offbeat, coming-of-age love story set during the armed robbery of London’s most exclusive jewellers. Sometimes funny, often dark, always captivating and never what you expect.”

Roberts shined brilliantly in Richard Ayoade’s feature directorial debut last year, Submarine, and it will be interesting to see his next follow-up leading role.

Poots, similarly, is certainly on the rise. She’s been spotted on the set of »

Financing Arrives For Adaptation Of Chuck Palahniuk's 'Snuff'; Rudolph Nureyev Biopic Based On 'Dancer' On The Way

3 July 2012 3:09 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While "Fight Club" will probably always be the high bar never to be reached again for adaptations of Chuck Palahniuk's work on the big screen, filmmakers will keep trying. "Choke" came and went and was mostly a disappointment, but "Snuff" should be an interesting gamble. The author's book about an aging porn star who decides to cap off her career by having sex with 600 men in one day, with the story told through the eyes of three men who are lining up to do the deed with her, should be challenging to say the least. And while we never thought financing would come through for a project that presumably has a very niche appeal, money is coming.

Immortal Transmedia, and producers Jean Pierre Magro and Dean O'Toole ("Kick-Ass," "Mister Lonely") are fronting the cash for the movie that will be written and directed by French filmmaker Fabien Martorell whose »

Set Photos Of Imogen Poots Filming Knight Of Cups; Benicio Del Toro May Join

12 June 2012 7:43 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Today we have some additional photos from the set of Terrence Malick‘s new film Knight Of Cups. We get a look at actors Christian Bale and Imogen Poots filming their scenes.

Admittedly, many actors have been known to show up on Terrence Malick sets to do some filming only to not end up making the final cut of the film. So at this point, it’s hard to say whether Poots will be cut out or not seeing as she’s not one of the bigger names on set.

Either way, these new set photos feature Poots taking on a punk rocker look, something we haven’t really seen from the rising star before, who is currently developing the foundations of a great Hollywood career with some interesting upcoming roles in the Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings From Tim Buckley and a new film starring James McAvoy titled Filth. Hopefully, »

Imogen Poots Spotted Shooting 'Knight Of Cups' With Christian Bale; Terrence Malick Meeting With Benicio Del Toro?

12 June 2012 6:42 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

So far, set photos have revealed the involvement Wes Bentley, Neon Indian frontman Alan Palomo, The Cult and Matthew McConaughey on the pair of new Terrence Malick films, "Knight Of Cups" and the project formerly known as "Lawless." Now, thanks again to the trigger-happy paps, another piece of casting has possibly been revealed with rising British actress Imogen Poots spotted shooting with the film's star Christian Bale.

Even though Poots' punk rock look here would probably be well-suited for "Lawless," which follows intersecting love triangles set in the Austin music world, the helmer is shooting "Knight Of Cups" first with "Lawless" star Rooney Mara previously noting that she wouldn't be reuniting with Malick until September.

That means Poots is likely joining Bale, Bentley, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and possibly Isabel Lucas for "Knight Of Cups." The Playlist favorite has been spreading her wings recently, slowly justifying our placement of her »

James McAvoy to star in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby double-feature

It is shown from the different perspectives of the husband, restaurant owner Conor (McAvoy), and his wife Eleanor (Chastain), who goes back to college. Ned Benson (In Defiance of Gravity) wrote the two scripts and will direct both of the stand-alone films. Back in February, it was announced that Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Thing) would be playing Conor but he has now dropped out, with McAvoy taking his place.

James McAvoy Joining Jessica Chastain In The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby

22 May 2012 6:24 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Though he made a straight-up excellent Charles Xavier in last year's X-Men: First Class, James McAvoy tends to get forgotten when you think back to that movie-- it's hard to outshine Michael Fassbender's Magneto and the outlandish dullness of January Jones's Emma Frost, after all. But that's always been one of McAvoy's skills, slipping into a role so seamlessly that he makes it perfect without drawing attention to himself-- see his turn as the doomed Robbie in Atonement, or the shocked observer to Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland. That quiet turn in First Class means it feels like it's been forever since McAvoy was onscreen--well, that and his starring role in Robert Redford's The Conspirator, which absolutely nobody saw. So it's good to hear that not only does he have the British indies Filth and Welcome to the Punch coming later this year, but »
