CBS to air Tony Awards through 2013

CBS has committed to airing the Tony Awards for three more years.

The network has signed an agreement with the the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing to telecast the annual award show through 2013. The awards show has been part of the CBS family since 1978.

"For more than three decades, The Tony Awards has been an annual CBS showcase and a big part of our ongoing commitment to support the performing arts on television," said Jack Sussman, executive vp of specials, music and live events. "We look forward to continuing this great partnership and bringing the best of Broadway to our viewers for many years to come."

Tonys to stay on CBS

CBS just closed a new, three-year deal to keep the Tony Awards on the network through 2013.  The awards show, which honors theater professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway, has been on CBS since 1978.

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held Sunday night at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the telecast featured the year's best in television, with the medium's most famous stars showing up to honor their own. After an opening skit featuring Betty White and the cast of Glee (TV) , the show was underway with Lead Actor in a Comedy Series going to Jim Parsons for Big Bang Theory (TV). Parsons, who trumped fellow nominees Alec Baldwin and Monk (TV)'s Tony Shaloub, thanked his fellow cast mates, his director Mark Cendrowski, writers, friends and family. Edie Falco scored a fourth Lead Actress Emmy for her role in Showtime's Nurse Jackie (TV). The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Winners! The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences held The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles and broadcast live coast-to-coast exclusively on NBC.

This year's Awards show was hosted by Jimmy Fallon, and celebrated some fresh faces and new programs such as Modern Family, which won best comedy over 30 Rock, which has held to that title for three consecutive years.

The night's biggest shocker winner was Bravo's Top Chef, who knocked out The Amazing Race from its seven-year winning streak.

But not all winning streaks are meant to be broken: Mad Men took home its third consecutive win for best drama.

2010 Primetime Emmy Awards Winners

The 2010 Emmy Awards took place at the Nokia Theater Live in Los Angeles last night. It was a huge night for the superb Mad Men and the comedy Modern Family, both of which picked up the main awards on the night.

“To our fans, we are so grateful, we are so thrilled that families are sitting down together to watch a television show, and we’re so happy that you have let us into your families,” said Steven Levitan, Modern Family executive producer said.

Man Men picked up is third award for Best Drama, with creator Matthew Weiner dashing to the stage to pick up the gong.

“I knew one day I would run somewhere and win a trophy,” He said.

The 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards falls on the perfect day in Hollywood with sunny skies and moderate summer temperatures for optimal red carpet sauntering.

Jimmy Fallon -- sans Roots, alas -- will bring his wacky and musical brand of comedy and perhaps get help from guest presenters as host for TV's biggest night.
