Both of Patrick Stewart's stints as Claudius have been opposite Time Lords from the TV show "Doctor Who" - his first production being opposite Derek Jacobi, who played The Master on Doctor Who, and the 2008 production opposite David Tennant, the tenth man to play The Doctor.
In many stage productions of Hamlet, there is a tradition where Ophelia's madness is conveyed in part by having her hair down, unkempt, and the character going barefoot. In this version, Hamlet is also barefoot with unkempt hair to denote madness.
Edward Bennett understudied the role of Hamlet throughout both the Stratford-upon-Avon and London stage productions. On 8th December 2008 he played Hamlet at a few hours notice when David Tennant had to pull out due to a back injury. He continued in the role, to great acclaim, until Tennant's return on January 3rd 2009.
