What do you call a Whopper in Spain? Clive Owen knows.
The "Killer Elite" star has shaved his moustache and is now walking the streets of Spain making Burger King look a lot cooler than it has any right to be. Owen is the latest celebrity to appear in a seemingly random foreign language commercial, following in the footsteps of Ben Stiller, Natalie Portman and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Showtime’s upcoming slate carries a slew of ambitious new series that run the gamut from comedy and comic books to the more tried-and-true genre of the crime drama. Now, John Wells, producer of the dysfunctional family drama Shameless, is looking to bring another overseas success to the network by adapting the award-winning Australian film Animal Kingdom.
Released in 2010, the film focuses on a family of career criminals, based on the notorious real-life Pettingill family. In Animal Kingdom, Jacki Weaver headed a fictionalized version of the family with Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Thing), Sullivan Stapleton (Strike Back) and Ben Mendelsohn (Knowing, Killer Elite), while Guy Pearce (upcoming: Ms One: Maximum Security) played the detective determined to bring them down.
The film was the directorial debut of David Michod (Hesher), and was ...

Owen would be playing the man who imprisons Josh Brolin's lead character in a nondescript room for 15 years and becomes the object of his former captive's revenge when the poor "Oldboy" is finally released. Christian Bale was once rumored for the part and Colin Firth recently turned it down.
Clive Owen would be excellent in this role -- and, let's face it, he needs a high-profile project and potential hit after stumbling around lately with the likes of "Killer Elite" (while "Intruders" can't seem to pin down a U.S. release date). Owen did some of his best-ever work under Lee's watch in "Inside Man" -- »

Featuring unstoppable action and a tremendous cast - including Dominic Purcell (Prison Break, Straw Dogs), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, Oz), Aden Young (Sniper, The Starter Wife) and Ben Mendelsohn (Trespass, Knowing) - »
Chuck actress Yvonne Strahovski is in final talks for I, Frankenstein, Stuart Beattie's adaptation of the comic book by Kevin Grevioux. Aaron Eckhart leads the cast as Frankenstein's classic monster, who in the present day goes by Adam and stands between humanity and the supernatural demons who would overtake them. Bill Nighy was previously announced as being in talks to play the villain, a demon prince determined to unlock the secrets of Frankenstein's reanimation. Strahovski is negotiating for the female lead, a scientist who's tricked by the demons into helping them create an undead army. Miranda Otto and Socratis Otto (no relation) also star. Strahovski recently starred in Killer Elite with Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert De Niro, and will next appear in My Mother's Curse with Seth Rogen, Barbra Streisand, and Adam Scott. I, Frankenstein is scheduled to begin shooting this winter in Australia. [The Hollywood Reporter ] After the jump, »

Only days after we learned that Bill Nighy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) is in negotiations to play the primary villain opposite Aaron Eckhart (Battle: Los Angeles) in Lakeshore Ent.'s I, Frankenstein adaptation and that Socratis Otto (Anyone You Want) had joined the cast as a minor villain, more casting news has surfaced. According to THR, Yvonne Strahovski (TV's Chuck, Killer Elite) is "in final negotiations" to play the female lead in the movie and Miranda Otto (In Her Skin) has signed on in a supporting role.

We have to admit, we had to look up to see if the NBC comedy "Chuck" was still on (for the record, it is). Anyway, it looks like one of the stars, Yvonne Strahovski, is making the big screen leap having taken a mostly thankless role in the mostly thankless "The Killer Elite," and now signing on to stitch together Aaron Eckhart's heart. Let us explain. »
Just yesterday Love Actually and Pirates of the Caribbean franchise star Bill Nighy joined the comic book adaptation of I, Frankenstein being directed by Stuart Beattie, of Tomorrow When the War Began, who also wrote the script based on a comic by Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of the Underworld franchise. Now Deadline has word that "Chuck" star Yvonne Strahovski, who hit the big screen earlier this year in Killer Elite, has landed the lead female role opposite Aaron Eckhart as the titular protagonist of the comic book adaptation. The stunning Australian actress will be playing his love interest, a beautiful and gifted scientist. In addition, THR reports Miranda Otto (Eowyn from The Lord of the Rings) has also joined the cast playing the queen of the gargoyles who wants to help Frankenstein. For those just joining us, the story follows Eckhart as a Frankenstein monster, who is being hunted by demons »

Yesterday, our own Cole Abaius reported on the possibility of Bill Nighy joining Stuart Beattie‘s I, Frankenstein as a demon, but before we get official word of Nighy going evil, Deadline Manchester reports that Yvonne Strahovski has signed on to play the female lead and principal love interest in the film. Best known for her work on television series Chuck, the role will continue Strahovski’s steady slip into more feature work (she recently co-starred in Killer Elite). Beattie wrote the script for the modern take on the Frankenstein’s monster tale, working off a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. Aaron Eckhart is on board to play the monster (which any nerd worth their salt knows is not actually named Frankenstein, that name comes from the monster’s creator Dr. Victor Frankenstein, so I am at a bit of a loss when it comes to the name of this project), who wavers between his more hideous »

While Scarlett Johansson will be making heads turn with her upcoming role in the surefire blockbuster, The Avengers, she’s opting to take the indie rout for her directorial debut. In an adaptation of long-lost Truman Capote novella Summer Crossing, Johansson will go behind the camera to direct from a screenplay written by New York playwright, Tristine Skyler. Summer Crossing follows an 18-year-old girl in post-World War II New York as she breaks free of the shackles of her well-to-do family and discovers her own identity and sexuality. Hit the jump for more on Summer Crossing. Variety reported on Johansson’s first project as a director. Summer Crossing will be produced by Oscar-winner Barry Spikings (The Deer Hunter) and executive produced by Peter D. Graves (Killer Elite) in association with trustee Alan Schwartz of the Truman Capote Literary Trust . In addition to The Avengers, Johansson can next be seen with »

In this week's "Even More" section there is a link to a Tom Cruise Blu-ray Collection, which includes Collateral, Days of Thunder, Minority Report, Top Gun and War of the Worlds for only $34.99. It's a good price and worth a look either for you or perhaps as a Christmas present for someone else. However, until November 17 you can buy it at Fry's for only $19.99! Get on it!
Also, I have two Criterion titles I'm recommending this week, but instead of using the Buy Now links next to each you may want to head over to Barnes and Noble where their 50% off sale is still on for I believe another week. Unless I am mistaken it ends on November 21. So, get to shopping!

Robert De Niro has been on auto-pilot for the last few years, recently appearing in Little Fockers, Machete, Limitless, Killer Elite and capping it all off with New Year’s Eve next month. In a bit of a career resurgence he actually has a few promising projects coming up, with David O. Russell‘s The Silver Linings Playbook, Rodrigo Cortes‘ Red Lights and Sean Penn‘s The Comedian. Another one that may fall into either category is Paul Weitz‘s Being Flynn.
The About a Boy and Little Fockers director’s next film was previously going under the same name as Nick Flynn‘s memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, but has since been changed to what you see today. The drama looks somewhat forced, but it may work better in the film, aside from the distracting, but wonderful Fleet Foxes track. Check it out below via Apple for »

Bashing Robert De Niro's recent choice of roles is a bit played out at this point, but the actor has done his defenders no favors by starring in films like 'Killer Elite' and 'New Year's Eve.' However, could the days of 'Fockers'-related insults be over? If the first trailer for 'Being Flynn' is any indication, then ... maybe! The new film from director Paul Weitz stars De Niro as the estranged father of a young writer (Paul Dano) who runs into his father at various homeless shelters around Boston. If that sounds familiar, but 'Being Flynn' doesn't, perhaps you remember this project from its original title: 'Another Bullshit Night in Suck City.'
