‘Riddick’ Trailer is Here!

15 May 2013 10:33 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Universal Pictures has released the trailer for “Riddick,” starring Vin Diesel.

The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film “Pitch Black” and 2004′s “The Chronicles of Riddick” reunites writer/director David Twohy (“A Perfect Getaway,” “The Fugitive”) and star Vin Diesel (the “Fast and Furious” franchise, “XXX”). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

Bill Johnson (left) and Jim Seibel (right) are officially launching Lotus Entertainment as a financing, production and international sales company at Cannes.

The execs formerly co-chaired Inferno Entertainment, which dissolved its Inferno International and Inferno Distribution earlier this year.

Los Angeles-based Lotus has hired a pair of Inferno Entertainment execs — former CAA agent Ara Keshishian and former Paramount and Captivate exec DJ Gugenheim, both as exec VP of production and development.

“Our goal is to find stories that we are truly passionate about and work with some of the world’s best producers, filmmakers and distributors to successfully bring those stories to a large global audience,” Johnson and Seibel said.

Inferno Intl. and Inferno Distribution filed for bankruptcy last August, citing a need to sort out legal disputes including a large judgment against the companies over the 2005 romantic comedy “Just Friends.”

Ben Mendelsohn: from soap star to Hollywood

5 April 2013 4:05 PM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

He started in Neighbours, made his name in Oz crime flick Animal Kingdom, turned up in Batman and now, as Hollywood's go-to sleazeball, is pulling heists with Ryan Gosling

"No, no, no – there's absolutely no problem. It's just one of those things, mate. I'd be very inclined to do exactly the same thing, and I know the subsequent fuckin' dread and all the other shit, so please, not at all."

Ben Mendelsohn had me at hello. An unexpectedly chilled-out hello, considering I'd phoned him an hour-and-a-half later than planned, slightly panicky, profusely sorry. Due to bleary-eyed, sleep-deprived email-reading, I'd got the time wrong, I'd got the day wrong, and would have been none the wiser had his publicist not contacted me to ask how the interview had gone. It's 8.30am in La and, luckily for me, not only is Mendelsohn at home in West Hollywood doing not a lot, he's »

David Twohy Talks about Riddick and Going Back to Its Roots

16 February 2013 9:00 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

It's been awhile since Vin Diesel has released any photos from his highly anticipated sci-fi film Riddick. So, here's an interview with Total Film in which director David Twohy talks about the 'R' rating, and what fans can expect to see in the franchise. He starts out by discussing how making an 'R' rated film is so much better than making a PG-13 film.
