This film is set in 2093 and takes place in the same universe as the 'Alien' movies. A group of explorers, including some archaeologists, are on an "undisclosed" mission. They arrive at a moon trillions of miles away from Earth. The team spot what they believe to be signs of civilization. They go to investigate and find more than just signs, they find conclusive evidence. But some of them have an ulterior motive for being there, including the Weyland Corporation. They believe that this is where the human race actually came from. Things soon turn from excitement to survival once inside their discovery. Written by

When Elizabeth has the alien "fetus" removed by using the "Pauling Med-Pod", she breaks the umbilical cord which is still internal, thereby leaving the "placenta" in her abdomen. This alone would probably kill her, causing her internal bleeding. However, as this was not a "traditional fetus" (as David described it), it is questionable as to whether a traditional placenta had even formed. Even if there was a placenta of some kind, it is still possible for women to have a "retained placenta" even after a C-section which can later be expelled from the body naturally or with the assistance of medication. Prometheus lived up to my expectations. I was satisfied with the movie and would recommend it to all Sci-fi fans. Please watch the movie with an open mind and don't make the mistake of comparing it to past Sci-fi movies. The special effects were excellent. Michael Fassbender as the android is the standout cast member.
There are some minor gripes. At two hours in length the movie seemed to be too short; it should have been about thirty minutes longer. A longer movie would have allowed for better character development. Some characters appeared to be superfluous and could have been omitted from the final script.
Overall I was happy with what I saw and I was mesmerized by the alien world that Ridley Scott created for his audience. Sci-fi is a genre that allows us to escape the drudgeries of our earthbound existence and wonder at what might be. Prometheus did it for me.
