Fun and inspiring
roni_saint26 November 2022
Truly motivating even In My 30s , not a big football fan .

Reminded me of the importance of not giving up . David words to the kids did make a difference but I wasn't sure about how he felt about doing this show . Sometimes it seems he talks just because he has too .

The impact on the kids is lovely and David talking to them from personal experience is,In my opinion, thought those kids a lot .

The 4th episode is truly special and I wish we had one more like it to truly appreciate the show and it's impact on the kids .

David there isn't much review here so if you are reading this I think you should do more things like this it's really inspiring to all surrounding the shows (including the coaches) .

Beckham's done right

I was surprised to see a half reality show involving David Beckham in Disney+ Hotstar. This 4 episode show was short and sweet. Nothing too fancy either, with cool composed David. I think there is room for improvements for this show and it would be awesome to hear if any of these academy players make it up to the big leagues. I hope they come out with another Season but with more drama. Loved them showing David Beckham's historical clips here and there.

Inspiring show but missing a bit of zest. Hopefully the directors, producers and actors come up with a mixer of all the right ingredients for the recipe of Season 2 that leave the viewers wanting more.

Scripted documentary
Rutger6224 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This feels like a scripted documentary. The boys are not always spontaneous in their reaction. Beckham is fake. Shots from Beckham visiting a boy in winter are followed by Beckham in his car discussing his visit "just made" with trees with leaves in the background. Other continuity errors similar to that. Beckham not being able to visit games for some reason but watching on his phone. Same shots reappearing over and over again.

Over all, this is not about Beckham saving a team, but Beckham acting and telling boys to work hard and respect their parents and love their family. Bwah. Beckham driving around London in his Masarati, having some perks organized like a visit to Wembley and boys overacting they all love it. The real heroes are the coaches: they are always there for their boys and they really do care.

Nice short reality docuseries

Save Our Squad is a nice easy watch that shows the game of football and behind the scenes in East London. Iconic David Beckham goes back to where it all began for him as a boy to inspire others who may one day follow his footsteps as player representing their country and making a success out of football.

I enjoyed this show, and the four episodes I felt could of been a few more episodes long with a little more depth into their family backgrounds. It was refreshing to watch on Disney Plus and a nice mini surprise package to find.

Inspiring, motivational and shows how to build as a team when things are tough. A good reminder of how to tackle football and in life.

Surprisingly heartwarming

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not a football fan but have always admired David Beckham. I gave this show a go reluctantly and then became totally invested in this series and the team.

For me, it wasn't about the football, but getting to know the boys and their families. It made my heart sing to see how their confidence grew and what a difference this then made to them and the team.

I also loved the coaches and their dedication both on and off the field. This series also shows the power of being surrounded by community and good solid role models that have your back no matter what.

I really hope that there is a season two.

More about David Beckham than football
morganfallon9 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The show is crafted from a great idea. Follow along a young group of footballers as they are struggling through a youth football league.

In the end however it feels as though you are watching a knight in shining armour (Beckham).

Most of the show ends up revolving around him and how he feels, not the intricacies of the young footballers lives, nor their training sessions. It doesn't even show many matches, only highlight from 3 or 4 played with dramatic music.

It comes across as hollow, and not even really entertaining.

The boys seem great, they grow on you, but considering the show is about the team, you really don't see much of them.

A chance missed.

Motivational series
tracell-7604227 October 2023
For me personally I loved this series. David Beckham is a beautiful person and how he motivates these kids is inspiring. He teaches them anything is possible. We all know David is rich but he doesn't seem stuck up or think he is better then anyone. He takes the time to really engage with the kids. The kids are just fantastic to watch as well. In this series you get to find out a little bit about each kids life and there struggles. I enjoyed seeing the kids bond and it showed how much they care for each other and how much they enjoy the football. The 2 coaches are also lovely and really care about the team. I absolutely loved it. 10 out of 10 for me.

A sham show
mmrgmngss9 April 2023
The whole show is a sham and the two coaches are liars! The club's safeguarding protocols are a joke, why? Well my son was injured last season, seriously, but this was conveniently airbrushed out of the show. My son is now facing 2 years out of a game he loves, he's been seriously let down by the club and 20-20 who filmed this show.

Another reason this club's safeguarding officer is a close friend of the club's owner, go figure! The club won't even give me the name of their insurer, the club's owner described as a father figure to the boys? Some father figure! My boy is now facing an ACL operation that I have to fund!
