After getting hooked on Hell's Kitchen and Master Chef I thought I'd check out this show because it seemed like it had potential to be a great show. The show is centered around Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey, a bakery owned and run by the Valastro family. The pilot seemed to start out great, the guys bakes amazing cakes, really. But then I started having this uncanny feeling on what was going on. And I'm sorry, after having watching the first season I have to say that this is as "caked on fake" and scripted as it gets. It's not even watchable at times because it's so obvious.. And it's sad, because I'm sure that this family/bakery could easily stand on their own feet without an annoying team of soap opera writers and producers behind them. It would be both more interesting and less cringe-worthy.
