The decision was to make the film in Ballarat, in the Australian state of Victoria, because it is known to have low lying fog in the mornings. Of course, when filming actually started, there was no fog to be seen at all.
Dawn Klingberg was only on the film for four days. Getting her into her ghoulish make-up took up to four hours to apply.
The film's original title was "The Banshee".
Only one shot in the film has the original shot of what the sky looked like during filming. The rest has all been treated in post-production.
The red car in which Claire tries to escape from the banshees actually belongs to director Brett Anstey.
