August 22nd boasts an eclectic array of home entertainment releases, as I can’t possibly think of two movies that are as opposite of each other as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Society, and yet both are coming home this Tuesday. Newcomer Jenia Tanaeva co-wrote screenplay and joins producer roster.

Harvey Keitel and Liam McIntyre have signed up to the romance See You Soon alongside newcomer Jenia Tanaeva.

Iuliana Tarnovetchi, Tanaeva (pictured) and Mike Cestari wrote the screenplay with revisions by Joe Ballarini about a Us football player who finds love after he suffers a career-threatening injury in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup.

Poppy Drayton, Oleg Taktarov, former Spain and Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol, and Larissa Malevannaya round out the key cast.

Commercials director David Mahmoudieh makes his feature directorial debut on See You Soon. Gabi Ilioiu and Tarnovetchi of Alien Film Entertainment produce alongside Tanaeva and Monella Kaplan for eMotion Entertainment. Alexander Mikhalskiy serves as executive producer.

Harvey Keitel, Liam McIntyre and newcomer Jenia Tanaeva are starring in the independent romantic drama “See You Soon,” currently filming in Europe and Russia.

David Mahmoudieh is making his feature directorial debut from a script co-written by Tanaeva and Mike Cestari and revisions by Joe Ballarini. Tanaeva is also producing with Monella Kaplan for eMotion Entertainment, with Alexander Mikhalskiy executive producing.

“See You Soon” follows a U.S. soccer star who, after suffering a career-threatening injury in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup, embarks on an unexpected journey of self-discovery and gives true love a chance. The film also stars “Downton Abbey” star Poppy Drayton, Oleg Taktarov, retired Spanish soccer star Carles Puyol, and Larissa Malevannaya.

Producer Gabi Ilioiu and Iuliana Tarnovetchi’s Alien Film Entertainment are handling the European production on location.

Katrina Law joins Sean Bean in The Oath

Katrina Law (Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Arrow) is the latest to join The Oath, Crackle’s new series starring former Game of Thrones actor Sean Bean. The series comes from Hawaii Five-o creator Joe Haplin and also stars Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Cory Hardrict (American Sniper) and Arlen Escarpeta (The Magicians).

Law will portray Karen Beach, “a police officer, and the sole female member of the Ravens cop gang, who has tendency to overcompensate by out-toughing the macho company she runs with and gets involved in a forbidden love affair with a member of a rival cop gang.”

The Oath is about a group of corrupt cops and sheds light on secret societies that are nearly impossible to join—only a select few make the cut – but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.

Billionaire Owen Glenn Boards Propaganda Film Debut Slate

Monaco-based billionaire businessman, Sir Owen Glenn has struck a funding partnership to invest in New Zealand’s Propaganda Film and to back its debut slate of movies.

Propaganda was launched in 2016 by New Zealand-based producer Murray Francis (“10,000 BC,” “The World’s Fastest Indian”.) Glenn, a New Zealand national, is coming in as a partner and will own 50% of the company.

The initial slate comprises three commercially-oriented films that will be shot in New Zealand making them eligible for the country’s 40% cash grant. Francis and Glenn will produce and finance. Propaganda will seek production partners and sales agents for its films at this month’s Cannes market.

'Wolf Creek' star Dustin Clare joins newly re-titled 'Pacific Rim: Uprising'

Aussie actor Dustin Clare has joined the newly retitled Pacific Rim: Uprising (previously Pacific Rim: Maelstrom) alongside John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.

Steven S. DeKnight is directing the project, with Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and Guillermo del Toro (the director of the original) producing alongside Boyega and Femi Oguns..

Cale Boyter is exec producing the Universal/Legendary pic, which will bow in theaters February 23 next year.

Clare appeared in Stan's recent Wolf Creek series. His other credits include All Saints, McLeod's Daughters, Underbelly, The Eye of the Storm and Goddess.

The actor is probably best known internationally for starring roles in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: War of the Damned. Starz's Spartacus franchise has form with Australians, with the late Andy Whitfield and Suicide Squad's Jai Courtney starring in the first season..
