Exclusive: James Tupper on Mastering Mystery With Hallmark and 'Big Little Lies'

25 May 2017 8:30 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

James Tupper's got a knack for mystery.

The 51-year-old actor, who gained notoriety on medical dramas like Mercy and Grey's Anatomy, seems to have hit his stride in the mystery genre with roles in Revenge and Big Little Lies.

Watch: James Tupper's Two Week Rule

Most recently, however, Tupper has transitioned from covering up crimes to solving them, with his latest role as an FBI agent working with an archaeologist (Courtney Thorne-Smith) to solve a murder in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' Site Unseen: An Emma Fielding Mystery.

"I think Hallmark is doing this really exciting thing right now, where they buy a series of books, they're books for young adults, or adolescents, and they're really fun Agatha Christie-style mysteries," the Canadian actor excitedly told Et over the phone earlier this month. "I actually signed on for three of them."

Though Site Unseen has yet to premiere, Tupper said he hopes to work on the next »

Dirty Dancing Star Colt Prattes Is About to Salsa Into Your Heart as Johnny

22 May 2017 3:20 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

It's a cold, hard fact that no one can replace the original Johnny Castle, Patrick Swayze, but they can put a new spin (literally) on the character. ABC's latest original film is a reboot of the 1987 romance Dirty Dancing, and though you're probably familiar with the new Baby, Abigail Breslin, you may not know much about the new Johnny, Colt Prattes. The newcomer has had small parts on the TV shows Mercy and Wiener & Wiener, but he's primarily a professional dancer. In fact, you may have seen him in Pink's "Try" video, impressively twirling her around with his defined-af muscles. No word on what Prattes has lined up after Dirty Dancing, but let's pray it doesn't require a shirt. »

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice gets a buddy cop-inspired fan-made trailer

1 May 2017 3:30 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The wacky Internet is utilizing its creativity again, this time with a fan-made trailer from Chief Brody Rules for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that envisions the blockbuster as a buddy cop action comedy in the same vein as classics such as Lethal Weapon.

Throughout the course of the three-minute trailer are footage and sound clips from many other films (some from the Dceu and some not), along with a lighthearted soundtrack that certainly switches up the tone from what Zack Snyder delivered with the DC blockbuster. Check out the silliness below…

Jay Baruchel praises Batman v Superman as “the world’s most expensive indie film”

Actor and comedian Jay Baruchel is currently doing interviews to promote his upcoming sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers, which is a project he directs and stars in.

During an interview with Joblo, Baruchel was put on the spot to discuss some recent films he has really enjoyed. In addition to mentioning Tom Ford’s noirish thriller Nocturnal Animals (which he described as “gorgeous and compelling”), he bravely brought up the critically destroyed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Baruchel praised the blockbuster, saying: “I’ve watched it about seven times… even when I saw the theatrical one and didn’t love it. In its weakest moment, it has more choice, style and commitment to it than the best moment in Captain America: Civil War. I can’t tell you what it’s about or who made it. ‘The Dinner’ Review: Steve Coogan and Richard Gere Are Enraged Siblings in Oren Moverman’s Intense Family Drama — Berlinale 2017

10 February 2017 10:30 AM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Oren Moverman is responsible for two of the most impressive American screenplays of the past 10 years, “I’m Not There.” and “Love & Mercy,” both of which turn ambitious approaches to personal stories into surprisingly accessible dramas. As a director, Moverman has shown a rougher edge.

His first two features, “The Messenger” and “Rampart,” were gritty, intimate stories of angry men screwed by the system that employs them (the military and the police force, respectively), while 2014’s “Time Out of Mind” took a similar approach to a man rejected by the system altogether (Richard Gere, playing a decrepit homeless man in New York). Moverman assembles these rickety dramas in piecemeal, gradually developing psychological tension out from the moments that form their lives, like a series of sparklers ignited one by one until they form a blazing whole.

His latest effort, “The Dinner,” is a firecracker from the start. While hobbled by »

Superman will “play a big part” in Justice League, confirms Zack Snyder

24 January 2017 1:40 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

To go along with the earlier Justice League image showing Batman, The Flash, Cyborg and Wonder Woman united and ready for battle, director and DC Extended Universe overseer Zack Snyder has made some comments in the print version of Empire regarding the role Superman that will play in the narrative.

“Superman does play a big part in this movie,” said Snyder. “His presence, and lack of presence, are big story points…”

Although he’s been absent from the marketing material so far, it would take a very, very gullible mind to believe that Superman would not have a physical presence in the film at all. Still, some official confirmation of Superman’s return and his importance to the plot is sure to be welcomed by fans of the Man of Steel.

Watch Jimmy Fallon playfully jab Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the 74th Golden Globes

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice continues to be the butt of many jokes, this time from Jimmy Fallon during his opening routine at last night’s 74th Golden Globes ceremony.

The joke came when Jimmy Fallon noticed Matt Damon in the audience, to which he delivered a zinger suggesting that Damon’s best acting role was telling Ben Affleck (the two are very good friends) that he liked Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Henry Cavill reveals awesome behind-the-scenes shot from Batman v Superman

5 January 2017 1:00 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

A new behind-the-scenes shot from the filming of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shows a furious Henry Cavill charging forward, presumably during the film’s fight scene between its two titular superheroes. Check it out below…

Cavill unveiled the picture to the whole world via his Instagram and Facebook and attached a humorous caption along with it that read: “Remembering a time while shooting BvS and they told me I wasn’t allowed my usual Salted Caramel Mochaccino with skinny coconut milk and whip… #NoMercy #NoExcuses #Superman.”

Despite the negative reviews directed toward the film, most of them took no issue with Cavill’s portrayal of the Man of Steel, which, considering how much scrutiny certain actors receive for their interpretations of classic comic book characters, is worth something. The case could even be made that Cavill hasn’t really had the proper material from Dawn of Justice and »

Zack Snyder cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice revealed

2 January 2017 1:00 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Zack Snyder may be the man behind the Dceu (for better or worse, depending on who you talk to), having already directed Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Justice League on the way, and apparently, he likes having a little fun on the sets of these blockbuster epics, inserting himself into the picture.

Cinematographer Larry Fong revealed via Twitter that during a scene in a fight club where Ben Affleck’s bat-hands pick up a cell phone mostly offscreen, the hands actually belong to Zack Snyder. No stranger to making a cameo in his own films, Snyder is also rumored to appear in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which opens in July.
