‘Young Guns’, ‘Major League’ & ‘Ace Ventura’ Reboots All On The Way

We’re getting word from the trade papers that plans to develop reboots for Young Guns, Major League and Ace Ventura are well underway at the rebranded Morgan Creek company, Morgan Creek Entertainment Group. According to Deadline, the company is making a big push across television, features and digital, and is keen to revive brands from their extensive back-catalogue, the aforementioned all fall within. The trade blog also mentions that there are also discussions with a showrunner for a Dead Ringers series reboot.

Deadline reports that McEg president David Robinson said that the Ace Ventura project will be “a mainstream theatrical production relaunch,” and very much not to a straight remake but a new film in the spirit of the original, “Because it’s episodic in nature, about a pet detective, it also lends itself to a traditional single-camera series franchise.” So, to TV it goes then?

Brad Pitt Is the Least Profitable Actor in Hollywood

Brad Pitt Is the Least Profitable Actor in Hollywood
It's hard to gauge who the most popular star in the world is, and by all accounts, that person is probably from India, not Hollywood. But there is no denying that Brad Pitt is one of the biggest names on the planet. And you'd expect that he'd turn more of a profit at the box office. But as it turns out, a new study shows he's the least profitable star in Hollywood.

He's not alone. A few other big name actors failed to turn a pretty penny when it came to their movies over the last thirty years. Analysts from PartyCasino, a unit of the Gvc gaming group, have done an intensive break down and study, which proves that Brad Pitt only brings in ten cents for every dollar spent on one of his movies. Coming in behind him is Johnny Depp, who only manages to pull in twenty cents for every dollar.

Emilio Estevez Is the Most Profitable Actor in Hollywood

Emilio Estevez Is the Most Profitable Actor in Hollywood
Hard to believe? Yes. But Emilio Estevez, who hasn't appeared in a movie since 2010's The Way, which he directed, is the most profitable actor in modern Hollywood. He has overshadowed Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., and even workaholic Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. So, how is this even possible? That's a good question.

Research has proven without a doubt that between the years 1980 and 2017, Emilio, brother to Charlie Sheen and son to Martin Sheen, has made more profitable movies than his big screen counterparts. Which is kind of amazing. The data comes from analysts at PartyCasino, a unit of the Gvc gaming group. They have intensely studied and broken down box office data from the past thirty years. And when the smoke cleared, it was Young Guns and Mighty Ducks star Estevez who stood as the king of Hollywood profitability. Perhaps he'll soon return to leading man status now that

Ariana Grande is bringing out her boyfriend, Mac Miller, for a surprise performance at her already star-studded One Love Manchester benefit concert on Sunday.

According to a set list obtained by Et, Grande and Miller are set to take the stage together at the end of the three hour concert. Miller previously canceled his scheduled performances over Memorial Day weekend at the Sasquatch Festival in Quincy, Washington, and Soundset in St. Paul, Minnesota, in wake of the bombing in Manchester following Grande's concert, which killed 22 people.

Take That, Robbie Williams, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Usher, Katy Perry, Coldplay, and the Black Eyed Peas are all set to perform, according to the set list.

Shortly after the Manchester bombing, Grande tearfully reunited with Miller in her hometown Boca Raton, Florida, where the two were snapped kissing and hugging in an emotional reunion.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Scores ‘The Hoff’ and Another Soundtrack Hit in ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 2’

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Scores ‘The Hoff’ and Another Soundtrack Hit in ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 2’
The mixtape-as-movie concept has proven a hitmaker for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which vaulted to the top of the box office with a $145 million domestic weekend haul based largely on the power of classic rock. The plot hinges on a Walkman-wearing intergalactic superhero, fond of his mom’s circa 1970s era classic rock.

Writer-director James Gunn makes no secret of the fact that he crafts the pacing of the story around songs he’s selected for his soundtracks, and uses music on the set to help the actors get their saving-the-universe-old-school groove on. “He films to score,” says the film’s composer Tyler Bates. “The cast wears earbuds that are digitally removed later, so they’re moving to the cadence of the music.”

Derived from the Marvel comic book series, 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” made $733 million worldwide, earning Gunn quite a bit more coin for Vol. 2’s sync licensing.

Tracks (2013) – The DVD Review

Sometimes a movie is worth waiting for. If you know anything about the production of motion pictures you may know that it can take years, sometimes decades, to get a film made. One such Hollywood story was the movie Jacob’s Ladder, the script for which became legendary as having been read by almost every producer, director and actor who works in the production of movies. When it finally did get made, well, if you’ve seen it, you probably know its pretty damn good.

In the 1980s I read Robyn Davidson’s book Tracks about her crossing the Australian Outback with camels starting at Alice Springs, the largest town in the outback. The journey was almost 2000 miles and was covered by a photographer from National Geographic, at Robyn Davidson’s request.

Her book was fascinating, and at the time,( this was in the 1980s,) I thought it would make a great movie.

Gabrielle Union Joins Emilio Estevez Movie ‘The Public’ (Exclusive)
Gabrielle Union has joined Alec Baldwin, Taylor Schilling, Jena Malone, Emilio Estevez and Che “Rhymefest” Smith in the ensemble dramedy “The Public,” Variety has learned exclusively. Estevez is directing the film from his own script.

Principal photography on the indie production will commence in mid-January in Cincinnati, Ohio. “The Public” centers around a standoff with police and library officials when library patrons — many of whom are homeless and mentally ill — stage a sit-in, turning the Cincinnati Public Library into an impromptu homeless shelter for one night during a cold snap.

Estevez says the story asks the question, “Who will care for those individuals who are unable to care for themselves?”
