Runaway, the rock video is a stop motion animation music video shot featuring Luis Cardenas, the gregarious drummer from the rock bank Renegade in one of his solo album releases. The video starts with Cardenas answering a phone saying "So that's it? It's over?" signifying the end of a relationship. Cardenas then strolls down the street twirling drum sticks singing the intro to the Del Shannon song by the same name. Cardenas stumbles upon a junkyard with a massive drum set inside (which is Cardenas' record setting set). As Cardenas begins to play the drums, animated dinosaurs emerge as his co-stars. Written by
Prior to the release of Luis Cardenas' solo album, Animal Instinct, that spawned the Runaway video, there was a widespread rumor that Cardenas was going to leave Renegade. During filming of the final scenes, Cardenas asked the director Tony Christopher to write in something that would signify that the band was continuing on. As a result, the other members of Renegade come running up to Luis and say "Look, we got the gig" and the unified band run off together, signifying the continuing nature of Renegade. See more »
