Taylor Kitsch Takes a Trip Down Memory Lane to Talk Friday Night Lights and His Former Costars

9 June 2016 12:15 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

It's been "years and years" since Taylor Kitsch reunited with his Friday Night Lights costars, and he can't wait to spend time with his former castmates this weekend. Thanks to Marriott Rewards, Kitsch is teaming up with Zach Gilford, Minka Kelly, and Aimee Teegarden to compete in Saturday's Spartan Race in Chicago, where the group will be tackling obstacles and, as Kitsch joked, possibly calling Kyle Chandler for a prerace pep talk, Coach Taylor style. Over the past few years, the 35-year-old actor has starred in movies like John Carter, Battleship, and Lone Survivor, and last year he was back on the small screen with True Detective. It was his breakout role as Fnl's Tim Riggins, though, that made him a household name, and to talk to Kitsch is to remember why his popular character is such a fan favorite. Like Riggins, Kitsch is charming and quick with the one-liners - which makes sense, »

26 May 2016 5:17 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

"We a big company, millions of moving parts... We all work very hard to ensure those moving parts are functioning..." Lionsgate has debuted a second trailer for Peter Berg's Deepwater Horizon, the disaster movie profiling the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The main focus is on Mark Wahlberg as one of the workers on the rig, along with his girlfriend played by Kate Hudson. The ensemble cast also includes Dylan O'Brien, Gina Rodriguez, John Malkovich, Kurt Russell, Ethan Suplee, and others. This certainly looks like a very patriotic, heroic Peter Berg movie, for better or worse. Here's the second official trailer for Peter Berg's Deepwater Horizon, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube: On April 20, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Intense First 'Deepwater Horizon' Trailer Shows the Right Way to Tease a Movie

23 March 2016 8:30 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

Earlier today we got our first look at some images from Deepwater Horizon, a new movie based on the 2014 disaster that saw the destruction of an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and the ongoing environmental catastrophe caused by millions of gallons of oil spewing into the ocean. Summit Entertainment wasted no time in following up those images with a trailer for the movie and wow. Seriously, wow. This is a great, great teaser trailer. Peter Berg may not be everyone's favorite filmmaker. Movies like Battleship make him a bit of an easy target. But Berg is at his absolute best when he's telling stories about everyday Americans just trying to get on with their lives, and Deepwater Horizon almost looks like what would happen if Friday Night Lights suddenly turned into a...

Watch: Mark Wahlberg Faces Man Made Disaster In The First Trailer For Peter Berg’s ‘Deepwater Horizon’

23 March 2016 9:01 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It’ll be interesting to see if Lionsgate’s “Deepwater Horizon” goes the route of the spectacular drama like “In The Heart Of The Sea” and "The Walk,” and if it can actually engage audiences in a way those films couldn’t. Originally a project J.C. Chandor was going to direct, the filmmaker eventually walked due to creative differences, presumably meaning Chandor wanted a drama and the studio wanted something much more epic and explosive. And it seems like the latter is what they probably got by tapping Peter Berg, known for muscular action dramas like “Lone Survivor” and “Battleship.” And the new trailer basically bears that out. Latest 'Hur' Remake Gets a Loud, Bombastic Trailer for the Fast and Furious Crowd

'Ben-Hur' 2016 with Jack Huston: Chariot race to the death. 'Ben-Hur' 2016 trailer: 'Gladiator' meets 'Fast Seven' meets 'Star Wars' meets… Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer have released the trailer for their 2016 Ben-Hur remake (or reboot or readaptation) – a.k.a. Fast and Furious A.D., as one wag called it in an online comment. Instead of grandiose spectacle featuring at its core a “human” story with Christian overtones, this chariot-and-sandals epic is being sold as Gladiator meets Fast Seven meets Spartacus: Blood and Sand meets Star Wars – with Morgan Freeman's Sheik Ilderim as the Roman Empire's dreadlocked version of Alec Guinness' Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi. Say what you will, the trailer-makers sure know their target audience. And that's not the same crowd that would go check out what's usually referred to in the U.S. media as “faith” (i.e., Christian) movies. One assumes that particular audience segment will be getting »

Battlestar Galactica film in development

11 February 2016 11:20 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

All this has happened before and all this will happen again thanks to a deal Universal has made to develop the long-gestating Battlestar Galactica film.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, producer Michael De Luca is teaming up with producers Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films to bring Battlestar Galactica to the big screen. Ever since the rebooted television series ended in 2009, Universal has been looking to bring the Battlestar franchise to the big screen, attaching Bryan Singer to direct at one point. He eventually left the project when it couldn’t get off the ground, but in 2014 it was said series creator Glen A. Larson was working on the project with Transcendence writer Jack Palgen. That project again fell through.

Currently, there is no writer on this adaptation of Battlestar; only the three producers have been named. De Luca has produced American History X, The Social Network and recently »
