Sarah Jane Morris Soars on to Body of Proof

11 December 2012 6:29 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Actress Sarah Jane Morris played Julia Walker on Brothers & Sisters once upon a time, but her story continues as she signs on for a guest spot on ABC’s Body of Proof.

Body of Proof follows Dana Delany as medical examiner Dr. Megan Hunt, who was once a star neurosurgeon until a car accident ended her career. Season three kicks off in February of 2013 and in that season’s 12th episode, Sarah Jane Morris will appear as a flight attendant. TV Line reported that her character’s name is Pamela Jacks and she’ll become key in the aftermath of an “airline tragedy”. I wonder if this episode was at all inspired by the recent Denzel Washington film, Flight.

In season three, adds dashing former Human Target actor, Mark Valley will join the cast, so makr your calendar for Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 10/9c. It will take the place of Private Practice »

CBS midseason: 'Rules of Engagement' and 'Golden Boy' debut, 'CSI: NY' ends early

6 December 2012 11:51 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

CBS has set its schedule for midseason, with one new series set to debut and veteran comedy "Rules of Engagement" returning to the schedule.

The new drama, "Golden Boy," will premiere at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the spot normally occupied by "Vegas." That's only a temporary change, though -- after two Tuesday airings, "Golden Boy" will move to Fridays at 9 starting March 8. "Vegas" then rejoins the Tuesday lineup on March 12.

"CSI: NY," meanwhile, will end its season on Feb. 22, meaning it will have an uninterrupted run of new episodes when it returns from its holiday hiatus in January.

"Golden Boy" follows the rise of a New York City detective (Theo James, "Bedlam," "Underworld: Awakening") who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the city's history -- though his ambition takes a toll on his personal life and professional relationships. Chi McBride ("Human Target," "Pushing Daisies") also stars as his veteran partner. »

Grab Your Calendars: Syfy Announces Winter Schedule

4 December 2012 4:00 PM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.

Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.

Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:

Syfy’S 2013 Winter Programming Highlighted By Series Premieres Of Ghost Mine, Robot Combat League, Stranded And Continuum Season Returns Of Hits Being Human, Face Off, Total Blackout, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl, Haunted Collector And Final Season Of Merlin

ABC Sets Premiere Date for Zero Hour

4 December 2012 3:00 PM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Conspiracies! Nazis! Creepy eyes! Cool old clocks! Even more than 666 Park Avenue – and we hope this isn’t a sign – we loved the pilot for ABC’s Zero Hour when we previewed it over the summer. We are So Hoping that they haven’t changed it, and that it will be really, really popular. We can’t make you like and watch it, but we might like you even better if you do.

So mark your calendars for the premiere day of our newest love, as Zero Hour makes its first appearance on Thursday, February 14 at 8/7c. Cynics will say that 8pm on Valentine’s Day is perfect for geeks and conspiracy theory nuts because they have no love lives, but we know better. What could be more romantic for geek and conspiracy theory nut couples than a new show to watch and dissect? Sounds like a little slice o’ heaven to us. »

Fox has ordered 13 episodes of a new animated comedy dubbed Murder Police, which the net says follows a “dedicated, but inept detective and his colleagues – some perverted, some corrupt, some just plain lazy – in a twisted city precinct.” The series from David A. Goodman (Family Guy) and Jason Ruiz will bow sometime during the 2013-14 season.

“David and Jason came to us with a really fresh take on law enforcement that we’ve never seen before,” said Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement. “With Murder Police, these guys are taking a staple genre of television – the cop show »

Janet Montgomery Finds 10 Things

2 December 2012 11:12 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Janet Montgomery isn’t having a lot of luck cracking Us telly leading status. Her role in the rebooted ensemble for action show Human Target didn’t get beyond a season and, more recently, her legal vehicle Made In Jersey was unceremoniously cancelled after six episodes. Still, her film career is still alight and she’s signed to star alongside Evan Rachel Wood in 10 Things I Hate About Life.Writer/director Gil Junger is squeezing a little more life out of the film (10 Things I Hate About You)  he brought to the world back 1999. This one, however, won’t be a direct sequel or a remake, like the TV version; it’s more channeling the themes of boy-meets-girl, and without the Shakespearian undertones this time around.Wood will play a young woman who meets a guy right as they’re both attempting to commit suicide. Starz Casts Black Sails Pirates

16 November 2012 2:23 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Who doesn’t like a good pirate adventure? Starz is a fan. The network has ordered episodes of Black Sails, to be delivered by Jon Steinberg and Michael Bay. Today we learned two new actors have been cast. They are Zach McGowan and Luke Arnold.

Black Sails bypassed those uncertain waters where a series is just a pilot and no one knows if it will be picked up or not. Starz immediately asked for eight episodes.

The show is set 20 years before the events depicted in Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island, explained Deadline. The show’s lead character is Flint, a savvy pirate. He and his new shipmate John Silver are trying to survive adventures on New Providence Island. And here’s fair warning. It may look like a paradise, but the isle hides other pirates, whores, thieves and more.

British actor Toby Stephens is Captain Flint. »

'Walking Dead' composer to score 'DaVinci' series

Walking Dead composer Bear McCreary has been hired to write the score for Starz upcoming historical action series Da Vinci’s Demons.

Starz put out a press release making this announcement and McCreary may be the only composer working in television today that has enough of a fan base to earn such attention. McCreary’s dramatic and theatrical-quality scoring of Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica earned him major cult following despite starting the gig when he was only 24 years old. He then went to Fox’s Human Target where his work was similarly strong, yet he left the show before its budget-cut second season (McCreary, »

Arrow Targets His Big Bad Nemesis

7 November 2012 3:27 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

This just in, Oliver Queen will suffer from a bad case of Vertigo and he won’t be alone. Starling City will tremble in the wake of Arrow‘s new big bad.

The gritty, new, comic book-inspired series on the CW has been steadily stealing our attention. Whether star, Stephen Amell is vaulting over obstacles like a man, half cheetah, half Olympian, or we’re reading buzz-worthy articles about the introduction of The Huntress to the show, this series seems to be on the right track.

But no true hero can conduct himself with an arch nemesis. During season one, TV Line suggests, that particular holy terror will modeled after the DC Comics character, Vertigo. He won’t be your grandma’s super villain either.

Because the series struggles to keep their material up to date and grounded in reality, this version of Vertigo will under go some heavy preening. »
