Moses Added to The Killing

Mark Moses is no stranger to drama after hanging around with the ladies of Wisteria Lane on Desperate Housewives but he’ll soon get to be on the right side of the law when he guest stars on AMC’s The Killing.

Moses, who plays Paul Young on Desperate Housewives, is returning to AMC for at least eight episodes of a major story arc in Season 2 of The Killing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He’ll play Lt. Carlson, a detective assigned to investigate Rosie’s death when he joins the Seattle police department. While there’s no official word on it at the moment, the mention of appearing in “at least” eight episodes hints that Carlson could be hanging around Seattle for even longer as a recurring character. Currently, Moses is wrapping up the final season of ABC’s Housewives and he’ll also »

Is Fringe In Its Final Season? Studio Boss Surveys the Far-Out Series' Future

21 November 2011 4:48 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Peter Bishop might want to think about not existing again, because the ratings for Fringe are getting kinda scary — and not in a cool translucent skin, third-arm-sticking-out-of-my-collided-selves’-chest kind of way. And yet another Peter — Warner Bros. TV president Peter Roth — says it’s too early for fans of the far-out series to freak out.

During its first season, when it aired on Tuesdays (sometimes leading out of a little show called American Idol), Fringe averaged 10 million total viewers and was known to score a 4.0 rating, if not higher, with the coveted 18-49 crowd. But in the show’s third year, »

The Punisher TV Series is coming to the Fox Network

21 October 2011 10:53 AM, PDT | Film-Book | See recent Film-Book news »

The Punisher TV Adaptation is coming to the Fox Network. Marvel‘s The Punisher TV show, TV series, whatever you wish to call it, is coming to the Fox Network. The first The Punisher movie had a fair amount of cheese but at least The Punisher was the serial killer he was in the comic book. The Thomas Jane The Punisher and The Punisher: War Zone both sucked so I was not looking forward to seeing another The Punisher film. This TV series is cool news but also unfortunate news. Its cool because the storylines of The Punisher will get explored but how can a show like this possibly be on Fox? Its too violent. This show would be great if it were on Fox’s FX Network. Look how well The Shield did on that network.

I already do not like the way the series is being described: »

Marvel Developing The Punisher as a TV Series

21 October 2011 6:39 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

After another successful summer blockbuster season, Marvel is continuing to branch out with some of their comic book properties and pursue other opportunities on the small screen as well as the big screen. Last year we heard that they were setting up a new Incredible Hulk TV series with Guillermo del Toro listed among the producers, and although that project appears to be moving somewhat slowly, now they've got another series on the go over at Fox. According to Deadline, the network just committed to a pilot for The Punisher, a weekly series based on the ultra-violent vigilante anti-hero who kills bad guys in cold blood. The show is being set up by former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero. The series is being developed as an hour-long procedural that revolves around Frank Castle, a New York City police detective who moonlights as a costumed vigilante in his off-hours. It's unclear »

Fox Picks Up Pilot for Marvel’s The Punisher

21 October 2011 4:00 AM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

It’s always great news when a network picks up a comic series for development into a television series, and we have news of the latest: Fox has picked up Marvel comic The Punisher, with Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds) as executive producer along with Marvel, to be developed by ABC Studios.

Deadline broke the story, and reports this about the project:

The Punisher is described as an hour-long procedural with a Marvel signature and a new take on one of Marvel’s more iconic characters, Frank Castle, a rising star detective with the NYC Police Department who moonlights as the vigilante Punisher seeking justice for those the system has failed.

We’re really interested to see what happens with this on a number of levels. They can’t change the name of the main character, but another detective with the name of “Castle” could be problematic. And will they be »

Geekend Round-Up Part 2: Twilight Zone, Tarzan, Zorro, Jurassic Park 4

17 October 2011 10:01 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

After a flurry of speculation - which included the likes of Christopher Nolan and Michael Bay - Warner Brothers has reportedly settled on Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves for its new journey into The Twilight Zone.

Deadline reports that negotiations should be under way next week, with the intention of getting the cameras rolling by summer 2012.

The script for this new film based on the classic TV show was penned by Jason Rothenberg (Body Public), who says it's "one big science-fiction action movie with a single freestanding story that is linked to the original series mainly in that it shares that familiarly eerie feel."

The previous big-screen adaptation in 1983 was an anthology comprising stories by four different directors including Steven Spielberg.

This project falls on an already-full plate for Reeves, who's set to helm This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein as well as the adaptation »

Zorro Reboot May Be Titled The Forging Of Zorro

12 October 2011 7:56 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Things seem to be moving forward for the Zorro reboot. Just last week we reported that Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (Human Target, Charlie’s Angels TV series) had been hired to pen the screenplay for the film, and now it looks like it has a title. What Culture reports that Sony has registered a number of domains related to the masked vigilante, using the titles The Forging of Zorro and Zorro: The Legend Begins. It sure sounds like the title of the film will end up being one of these, but they essentially get the same message across: this is Zorro Begins. The origin pic will be based on the 2005 Isabel Allende novel Zorro, which centers on the young Zorro who witnesses the brutal injustices dealt to Native Americans. The young man then becomes a pupil of a fencing master and joins a secret underground resistance movement, paving »

Another Zorro Reboot in the Works

7 October 2011 6:17 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Looks like Zorro is heading back to the big screen, and this time around, it will not be Antonio Banderas behind the mask. According to Deadline, Sony is in the process of setting up another re-imagining of the Spanish outlaw based on the 2005 novel Zorro by Isabel Allende. The book is an origin story that is also written as a mock biography, apparently treating the character as a real historical figure, and even making reference to many existing stories including the last feature film The Mask of Zorro. Does this mean the movie will be shot as a mockumentary? Probably not, but it might be a cool idea. At any rate, Sony is insisting that since it is based on this book, it will Not be a remake. Of course it won't. Writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia have been hired to pen the script, taking them out of their »

Sony Hires Writers For All New Zorro Reboot

Sony Pictures have announced that they're preparing a reboot of the classic sword-swinging hero, Zorro, and have hired two writers in order to pen the script.

Deadline got the scoop on this one, that Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, more noted for their TV series scripts (such as Jericho and Human Target), have been brought on board to bring Zorro back to the big screen.  Wouldn't you know it...it's going to be an origin tale to boot.

I feel torn on this one.  I love Zorro.  He's a traditional kind of hero, almost like a Batman just set in the early 1800s, and he's just as awesome.  The guy carries a sword and a whip to fight evil; that's just cool.  I also really enjoyed the Antonio Banderas movies, and thought they were fun and adventurous.  On the other hand though...I'm really tired of origin stories.

As a child he also witnesses the brutal injustices dealt Native Americans by European settlers and begins to feel the inner conflict of his dual heritage. At the age of sixteen, Diego is sent to Barcelona to be educated. Spain is chafing under the corruption of Napoleonic rule, and Diego, following the example of his celebrated fencing master, »
