‘Community’ Stars Joel McHale, Jim Rash Reunite for Outrageous ‘Lip Sync Battle’ (Video)

28 April 2016 10:29 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Jim Rash really misses his “Community” co-star Joel McHale, and we mean he really misses him. McHale’s disbarred lawyer Jeff Winger and Rash’s Dean Craig Pelton both bid farewell to the former NBC comedy in June when it ended its run on Yahoo! Screen. Fortunately, the comedy actors had a happy reunion when they went from work colleagues to rivals on Thursday’s installment of “Lip Sync Battle,” with McHale kicking off the show with a bouncy rendition of Imagine Dragons’ “I Bet My Life.” Also Read: Katharine McPhee Shakes Her Booty at Jason Derulo on 'Lip Sync Battle »

Russo Brothers: 'Civil War' Directors Reveal How Marvel Makes It Possible For Indie Filmmakers To Create Superhero Movies

28 April 2016 2:19 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Anthony and Joe Russo, collectively known as the Russo brothers, have made a name for themselves by directing Marvel big-budget films like “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War.” As the filmmakers get ready to dive deeper into the comic-book universe, they talked to New York Magazine about how Marvel makes it possible for indie directors to helm big box-office superhero pictures.  The duo started off when they self-financed the crime film “Pieces” for $35,000 and caught the attention of Steven Soderbergh at the Slamdance Film Festival in 1997. After 2002’s “Welcome to Collinwood,” “You, Me and Dupree” and a couple of episodes of “Arrested Development” and “Community,” the brothers also garnered attention from Marvel president Kevin Feige.  “They are equal parts visionaries and pragmatists,” says Feige of the Russos. “In my opinion, that’s a high compliment.” Read More: Review: 'Captain America: Civil War' Shows the. »

Joel McHale Channels Björk on Lip Sync Battle

25 April 2016 12:28 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It looks like a Community reunion on this Thursday's episode of Lip Sync Battle! In a preview for the latest duel between celebrities on the Spike hit show, Joel McHale hilariously channels the eccentric Icelandic singer Björk for his rendition of her song "It's Oh So Quiet." McHale dons the famed yellow dress and a brunette wig for an all-out performance of the 1995 hit, which includes trumpets, dancing showgirls, and of course, men in scuba suits. The former host of E!'s The Soup is certainly not afraid to go all out in the crazy performance of the song, as he mimes along with the music and mimicks some of the same moves seen in Björk's classic music video. He even manages to get »

Last week, Lip Sync Battle gave us the epic Marvel match-up between Hayley Atwell and Clark Gregg, and now, this Thursday, we’ll get another TV star showdown. However, this week’s battle we’ll be between two former co-stars: Joel McHale and Jim Rash, both of whom were series-regular cast members on the beloved sitcom Community. And from the short but entertaining sneak peek we have below, I think it’s safe to say that this week’s Lip Sync Battle is going to be “streets ahead” of its predecessors. So what can we expect from McHale and Rash when the two face off this week? Well, even though we

Relax, 'Veep' fans: The new producer didn't screw up the show

21 April 2016 12:58 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

One of the running gags in the new season of Veep involves Selina's daughter Catherine trying to film a documentary about her mother's work, and constantly being shooed out of the Oval Office because she's just captured an unflattering moment from America's first female president. "Catherine, do not use any of the vulgar parts," Selina eventually warns her. "But that's, like, all of it," Catherine points out. So, no, Veep fans, you don't have to worry about the Emmy-winning HBO comedy transforming into a radically different show in season 5 (which debuts Sunday at 10:30), even though creator Armando Iannucci has moved on to other projects, replaced by comedy veteran — and Veep newbie — David Mandel. This isn't going to be the gas leak season of Community: the four episodes I've seen feel very much like the show Iannucci was making, not only in the way they continue the cliffhanger of »

Win Passes To The Advance Screening Of Keanu In St. Louis

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, a.k.a. the hugely popular comedy duo Key & Peele, star in New Line Cinema’s action comedy Keanu.  The two play Clarence and Rell, cousins who live in the city but are far from streetwise. When Rell’s beloved kitten, Keanu, is catnapped, the hopelessly straight-laced pair must impersonate ruthless killers in order to infiltrate a street gang and retrieve the purloined feline. But the incredibly adorable kitten becomes so coveted that the fight over his custody creates a gang war, forcing our two unwitting heroes to take the law into their own hands.

Peter Atencio (“Key and Peele,” “The Last Man on Earth”) directed the film from a script written by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens (“Key and Peele,” “Community”). Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Peter Principato, Paul Young, and Joel Zadak produced the film, with Ben Ormand serving as executive producer.

Interview: Joe & Anthony Russo Talk The Marvel "Artist Collective," Adding Spider-Man To 'Civil War,' And Much More

12 April 2016 9:15 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Primarily known for their work on non-blockbuster TV shows like “Community” and “Arrested Development,” Anthony and Joe Russo were hired to direct “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” for Marvel, and the decision seemingly came out of left field. TV directors with no action movie experience to take on a big Marvel tentpole? Not only did the Russos convince the skeptics, but they knocked ‘Winter Solider’ out of the park, granting further legitimacy to Marvel’s desire to make seemingly off-kilter but collaborative choices. The brothers essentially took over Joss Whedon’s role as Marvel’s in-house consigliere —not bad for their first time at bat on a major studio picture. TV Review – Love Season One

Love – Season One

Starring Paul Rust, Gillian Jacobs, Claudia O’Doherty, Tracie Thomas, Andy Dick and Jordan Rock.

Synopsis:

A program that follows a couple who must navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment and other things they were hoping to avoid.

I got turned off from Love before I even bothered to watch the trailer. I knew all I needed to know about it, in my opinion, and that was the fact that it was produced by Judd Apatow. Apatow, who has been involved in some outstanding works of comedy like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Anchorman, has also produced some of my least favourite films ever; namely, Seth Rogan movies. I don’t really have a problem with Seth Rogen, per se, or in fact with Apatow (except perhaps his exhaustingly mechanical use of the hot girl stereotype, which incidentally surfaces in Love – but more on that later), I just really, »

Martin McDonagh’s ‘Three Billboards’ Adds Peter Dinklage and More; Benicio Del Toro Joins ‘The Corporation’

Right before production kicks off, Martin McDonagh‘s highly anticipated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has improved a remarkably impressive ensemble. The Wrap report on the additions of Peter Dinklage, John Hawkes, and Manchester By the Sea‘s Lucas Hedges, who are to play, in order: a man fancying the picture’s lead (Frances McDormand); said lead’s ex-husband; and said lead’s son.

As previously reported, Three Billboards concerns “a 50-year-old woman whose daughter is murdered and she goes to war with the police in her home town, because she thinks they are more interested in torturing black people than getting justice.” Revealed in the newest update is a bit more about the plot: to shame Ebbing’s police, she “pays for three local billboards lambasting law enforcement officials and goading them into action.” Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell portray the sheriff and “hot-headed protégé,” respectively, while Caleb Landry Jones »
