A former lawyer attends a community college when it is discovered he faked his bachelor degree. In an attempt to get with a student in his Spanish class he forms a Spanish study group. To his surprise more people attend the study group and the group of misfits form an unlikely community.

After five seasons, NBC canceled "Community" in May 2014. Sony, the show's production owner, was involved in talks with Hulu to renew the show for its Sixth Season. Talks with Hulu collapsed, however, but Yahoo! purchased a 13-episode order and renewed the show in June 2014 for a Sixth Season. Harmon said in a July 2014 San Diego Comic Con panel: "Community Season Six - now you're watching the way you used to watch, only now it's legal," jokingly referring to how many in its audience watched the show illegally on their computers. "Community" aired new episodes exclusively on the online streaming site, Yahoo! Screen, in March 2015. See more
The Colorado Bar Association automatically disbars anyone who lies about having a bachelor's degree for a minimum of eight years, not the conditional four-year probationary period Jeff is given to obtain said degree. Further, reinstatement to the bar after that period would be highly unlikely given his previous dishonesty. See more
