Storyline

Handsome, romantic, sexy gentile Charlie enjoys his honeymoon with liberal-Jewish marriage counselor Ava. It's cut short when her parents Bradley and Betty, who always seemed the perfect couple, suddenly border on divorce over an old affair and poorly matched expectations. Worse, in turn they invite themselves to move in and drive the newly-weds crazy. Ethics prevent Ava from taking them on as clients and the colleagues she refers to prove hopelessly inept. Meanwhile Charlie's impulsive buddy Gerber, the eternal bachelor party animal, has married Polish green-card-chaser Kasia. Written by KGF Vissers

Quotes

Ava: Okay... okay Betty, we're making some, some progress. I want you both to close your eyes... take a deep breath, and let's try and reconnect... with some of those feelings you had when you first decided to get married.
Betty: Ava, this Berkeley bullshit isn't going to work on me.
Ava: Mom!
Betty: I'm sorry darling... but I'm not going to take marital advice from my twenty-eight year old newlywed daughter!
Ava: I'm a professional!
Betty: And you're a hopeless romantic. You've been watching Gone With the Wind every Thanksgiving...

Boring
28 December 2011 | by See all my reviews

Kellan Lutz's character is charming and likable but the same cannot be said about Mandy Moore's character. Ava is obnoxious and prideful who thinks that because she is now a marriage psychologist she knows all about marriage. Another flat character is Ava's younger sister. She is unprofessional and although they put her for comedic relief, she does not succeed. The sister is supposed to be the young wise one but the lines that they give her are too predictable. I found the plot boring, foreseeable, and unrealistic. I just did not like it but that is not to say it did not have some good scenes. In Mandy Moore's defense, her acting was fine but her lines distasteful/disagreeable. The emotions/actions she puts into her parents relationship are more of child not wanting their parents' divorce instead of an adult who can understand that sometimes relationships just do not work out.
