Just a brief note to wish all of our readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone here at Flickering Myth, and to say thank you for supporting the site over the past year.
We'll be revealing our "Top 10 Movies of 2011" on New Year's Eve, but like us you'll likely be casting your eye towards 2012's cinematic slate by now, so to help you plan your viewing here's a selection of potential highlights to look out for in the coming year (sorted roughly by order of arrival)...
Underworld Awakening (dir. Mans Marlind, Bjorn Stein)
As the year draws to a close, Warner Bros. is beginning to look forward, as they’ve provided a few new images and synopses for choice options in their 2012 slate. This crop, only a small portion of their offerings for the next twelve months, consists of Bullet to the Head, Rock of Ages, Project X, and The Apparition. Nothing exhibited here is a big revelation for those who’ve been following the films for a few months — although I did learn that a movie titled “The Apparition” is coming out — but a new picture or two never hurt anybody. Now, let’s get down to business.
Up above you can see the picture for Bullet; you can read the specifics below.
In theaters on April 13
Director: Walter Hill
Writers: Screenplay by Alessandro Camon
Producer: Joel Silver, »

Warner Bros. has released new images and official synopses for director Nima Nourizadeh's Project X, Walter Hill's Bullet to the Head, Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages, and Todd Lincoln's The Apparition. While we've already seen an extremely funny trailer for Project X (which was produced by Todd Phillips) and a mediocre first trailer for Rock of Ages, WB has yet to release any footage from Bullet to the Head (which stars a shirtless Sylvester Stallone) and The Apparition (which was originally scheduled for release last year). With these first images being released, I'd imagine we'll be getting the first trailers very soon. As a big fan of Walter Hill (48 Hours, Brewster's Millions, The Warriors, The Driver), I'm really hoping Bullet to the Head is awesome. Hit the jump for more. The cast of Breaking Dawn Part 1 stopped in San Francisco as part of their promotional tour last week and we sat down with Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, and Charlie Bewley, who plays Demetri, to chat about the film. With only one installment of the franchise left after Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters on Friday, the actors are already looking towards the future. Ashley talked about her upcoming roles alongside Miley Cyrus in Lol and Jennifer Garner in Butter, while Charlie shared details on his romantic part in Like Crazy and almost being cast in The Vampire Diaries. Ashley on her fans seeing her in other roles: "I think Lol is really great, it's a completely different character than Alice. She's kind of a bad girl a little bit but it's a high school film so it's still relatable. It was a fun one to do, I think they'll like it a lot. »

After many rumors and much hoopla, Matt Damon is finally lining up his directorial debut.
Variety has learned that Damon and "The Office" star John Krasinski have co-written a currently untitled script that Damon will now helm. The idea originated between Krasinski and "Away We Go" writer Dave Eggers, and then Damon came on board. The film would follow a salesman who reevaluates his life after moving to a small town, with Damon playing the salesman. The flick is currently set up at Warner Bros, and should start shooting soon on the east coast.

This weekend, Ashley Greene ("Alice Cullen") hit up Las Vegas for the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM, on-hand as a presenter (for the Rascall Flats) for the show. She's been all over the place lately, hasn't she? Presumably, it's because she's done with production on all of the projects she has on the way right now. Butter, The Apparition, Lol, and, of course, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 all feature her and have yet to be released to theaters. She was recently cast in a new project, The Boom Boom Room, but no word yet on when that will go into production. Photos of Greene at the »
Stuart Paul is now adapting the alien thriller graphic novel "The Nye Incidents." Paul is both a screenwriter and a comic book writer. "Nye," Whitley Strieber and Craig Spector, first hit the scene in 2009. Todd Lincoln ( The Apparition ) signed up to direct the adaptation and he is still on board. Earlier this year, "Nye" took a leap from Dark Castle to Rko. With Paul on the project, development will pick up a modicum of steam. Shock spoke to Lincoln in-depth about the upcoming film. You can read our interview here . »
Screenwriter and comic book writer Stuart Paul has been tapped to adapt The Nye Incidents, the comic book co-created by Communion author Whitley Strieber, says Heat Vision. The project is set up at Rko, with Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) attached to direct. Lincoln is also producing with Daniel Alter. "Set in the world of alien abductees, the Devil Due's comic centers on a seen-it-all and logical medical examiner whose faith in the rational is shattered when she runs afoul a brutal murder of a supposed alien abductee. The case puts her on the path chasing a serial killer working in the alien abductee community who may or may not be human." Lincoln and Alter previously teamed up on The Apparition, a supernatural horror movie starring Ashley Green and Sebastian Stan; the movie is due out next year. »
Greene, like Lutz, has a lot going on, promotion-wise, as her film Butter is being featured at the Toronto International Film Festival. She is not, however, expected to attend the showcase as of yet. Her appearance yesterday in New York furthers the probability that she's won't be in Toronto for the festival.
A couple of her other finished movies, Lol and The Apparition, are still in the air as far as theatrical release goes. No dates have been set. Same for Butter. It should be interesting to see what happens for Ashley Greene if »
Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale and Sofia Vergara have been rumoured to be attached to the Danger Girl movie adaptation. Based on J Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell's comic, which debuted from WildStorm Productions in 1998, Danger Girl follows the adventures of three female secret agents. The story follows renowned archaeologist and adventurer Abbey Chase as she is recruited by the super-secret spy organization, Danger Girl. Back in April of last year, we brought you the news that director Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) was set to helm the big-screen adaptation of the WildStorm comic book Danger Girl, created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, the comic centers on a group of scantily clad female secret agents battling villains across the globe.
Now, according to TrackingBoard, Kate Beckinsale (Underworld: Awakening), Milla Jovovich (Faces in the Crowd), and Sofía Vergara (New Year’s Eve, Modern Family) are reportedly attached to star in the big-screen adaptation.
Chris Bender and Jc Spink of the production company Benderspink have reportedly been shopping the project to studios with the three actresses attached to star, presumably as the three main characters in the comic, Abbey Chase, Natalia Kassle, and Sydney Savage.
According to ThePlaylist, the agency representing the actresses (Wme) has said that the tracking boards information about the three being attached »

File this one under rumor for now, but word on the street is (and by street, I mean the highly accurate interwebs) that the feature film version of Danger Girl now has three very good-looking women attached to star. Latino Review reports (via tracking boards) that Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich and Sofia Vergara are attached to the adaptation of the Wildstorm comic book series Danger Girl from J. Scott Campbell. Benderspink is apparently shopping the rights to the project, which is described as Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark, with the team element of Mission: Impossible thrown in for good measure. Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) is supposedly attached to direct. The casting seems a bit too “teenage boy’s fantasy” to be true, so I’m reluctant to report this as solid fact at the moment. Then again, it could also turn out to be spot-on (egg, meet »
