Storyline

IN THE MIX: THE NEW NORMALwill explore the ways teens have reacted to and dealt with the impact of September 11th. THE NEW NORMAL is a powerful collection of documentaries in which teens relay personal stories about the day of the attacks; discuss important residual issues such as stereotyping and diversity; interview well-known journalists and activists; and engage in heated group discussions. The young adults who share the spotlight in THE NEW NORMAL come from an array of backgrounds and places. Jamie, a Long Island teenager, talks about coping with the death of her stepfather, a New York City firefighter. California and Colorado high schoolers share their thoughts about September 11th and its far-reaching effects. Roksana, a 16-year-old Muslim girl, organizes a workshop designed to promote awareness and dispel commonly held myths.
